A month back they quoted me 17.5K for screen & battery replacement. However Samsung is replacing both of them free since last two weeks. They will keep the phone, inspect it for physical and water damage, and if it passes you get both component replace. All legal authorized service centers are supposed to offer you this service, as Samsung is paying them, unless they want to get the free parts from Samsung and charge you at the same time ! I got my repair done after 10 days of submitting the phone but most got it within a week.
I too started having this issue all of a sudden this morning on my S20+ (late Aug22) and that's how I turned up here. Could you please tell me if at the service centre we need to specifically tell them something in order to get a free screen replacement? And is it applicable to all service centres in India?
Got the exact problem. Submitted my phone in aug 19 in service center. They said they will inspect and if company approves it, will get a free replacement. On the same day at 8pm, got one message saying something like: 'Dear Customer, part is requested for service request......'. Not sure if it means that my device passed inspection and me get free replacement 😐😐
How rare that there are thousands of customers experiencing the same issue. This is clearly a manufacturer issue, flagship phone are made to lasts for years hardware wise, they should also cover such issues specially if there are no any physical damage on the device
I am observing the similar problem since this morning. I just picked up my phone and suddenly noticed this green vertical line. I assumed on the similar lines that this could be because of some software update and finally landed watching this video. You are absolutely right. This is completely unacceptable from a global brand like Samsung.
Thank you so much for bringing light on this issue. I have a Samsung galaxy S20 plus. Before even 6 months after buying, the screen suddenly switched off while I had the phone in my hands after a software update and there was a green line on it. Even when I went to my local Samsung Service Centre they denied my claim that it didn't get physically damaged and put the blame on me that I was the one who had damaged it and they did not fix it even when I still had the warranty. After a couple weeks another line had appeared. I went on Samsung's website and under the S20 plus topic there was nothing but complaints about the exact issue I have. Samsung had not responded to any of them and acted like they didn't exist. I went on youtube that same day to search up if any youtubers were talking about it but alas there was only one person and he said that youtube had shadow banned his channel because he informs people of these type of issues that tech companies just slip under the rug. Again thank you for making a video about this. Edit: I just saw the pinned comment and am not able to get that in my country nor do I have enough time to send my phone to India so that maybe I might be able to fix it. Thanks Samsung you just lost a loyal customer.
@@miraclegeorge1935 yup but it came back right after, got 1 line on the farthest side of my screen so I wasn't distracting but I was using the phone went he screen randomly started glitching ended up getting a s22
I had the same experience with my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. A green line just suddenly appeared, and now the screen has several green lines already. I had it checked with their customer service early on, but the lady who attended me said that the unit needs screen replacement that would cost PhP16,500. I wasn't able to have the screen replaced, and now it has several green lines already.
No drop no physical damage or whateverso, vertical line just pop out after warrant ends. Well done. This is what we get after paying so much the phone. 👏👏👏
I bought my s20 plus on day one from best buy, got the azure blue. Had it for 2 years and It came out of my pocket one day and the glass shattered... got it fixed from an authorized repair shop. Now a year after the fix, I have two green lines. Pretty awesome...
I personally went through this issues twice with my S20+. Once after 6 months of purchase of device and the second time after a year subsequent to the first time. Fortunately, both the time Samsung service center replaced it for free (1st time it was under warranty & 2nd time they mentioned that if my device gets an approval from their head office once it passes few tests, they would give free replacement; which they did!). However, it is surprising and disheartening to know that a lot of customers were asked to pay over 15K for an issue caused by the device itself. Now, I'm in a fix whether to upgrade my S20+ to S22+ (using their trade in policy) because I feel this display issue might come up in the future with the S20+. One of the reason that's holding me back from buying the new S22+ is that it is not the first Samsung device to have this display issue, older S series phones used to get the pink/green lines, probably not as prevalent as S20+. Another reason is that, in one of your videos : "Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus comparison with S21+ & S20+" , you had mentioned that S22+ is not a great upgrade if you're coming from S20+ or S21+. Let me know your thoughts on this upgrade (if it is :p), considering the reduced price at which I can get the S22+ using the trade in offer.
I was going to get the S22+ during the festive sale as I was getting a good exchange deal via Samsung. Before I could do anything my S20+ screen clonked off. After enough research I found out the truth and now I've lost confidence to upgrade to S22+. Sadly other brands are offering very less for the S20+ as I think they also are aware of the issues. The same issue has been reported in OP 8T phones after software update. Samsung has huge QC issues that's for sure. They've even officially acknowledged the S22 Ultra flickering issue.
@@achilles64 Same here! Since S20+ had this issue with its display, I too am not confident to upgrade to S22+ ( even though I couldn't find anything seriously wrong with that phone as of now, probably in the future something might creep in like what happened with S20+). But like you said, other online markets aren't giving good exchange deals for S20+ (even Samsung has already reduced it's exchange value for S20+ , which is a bummer 🥲) Hopefully, Samsung really up their game when it comes to QC, otherwise it's going to affect their brand!
@@antonygvalavi is your phone currently under warranty, or is samsung offering replacements regardless of the warranty status of the product? Also could you please educate me a bit more on their 'trade in' policy? Not familiar with it
@@shubhamsinghstar123 My phone was out of warranty the second time I went to replace the screen. The trade in policy is basically their exchange policy. You just need to visit their website, select the new device you want and there should be an option to add your current device up for exchanging. Once you add your current device, Samsung will show how much you will receive for that device. At checkout, the exchange value would be shown as a discount that would be reduced from the new device price. That's pretty much it! Hope that helps!
@shub you will get free replacement for display and battery both till december 2022. Juz go to nearest samsung service centre and explain the issue clearly and educate them about ur awareness on the s20+ issue that is widespread. Dont worry about ur phone being out of warrenty. If they deny juz threaten them that u will take the issue to consumer court also ur gonna take the issue to samsung social media team and upfrontly take them on twitter. Samsung is paying service centres to replace parts. And s20+ is one of their flagship so samsungs reputation on line
Apparently the display doesn't need any replacement. The flex connector of the display is the issue and there are countless videos showing screens working perfectly after changing the flex cable. Right from S20 series to S22 have this issue.
@@sandeepkhopade just want to add, the reason is most service centers will replace components fully as one of their marketing technique to sell spare parts for example when one of the ic in the mobo of a laptop is broken, almost all customer service will give you the offer to replace one mobo and that's the only thing all brand, the solution is going to the maintenance shop and ask them to fix that specific component
I have had same problem with my Samsung S20 +, which has not suffered any damage, and the response of the Samsung Technical Service in Barcelona, Spain is to replace the screen with a cost of € 250, and the new screen will have a warranty of only 3 months. Incredible.
I was a hardcore samsung fanboy until this issue occurred. I was absolutely appalled the way the customer care team handled my issue. Now i moved to iphone reluctantly as besides s series iphone is the only alternative option. Even though i miss my samsung camera and ease of android, but i know iphone is never going to disappoint me with its performance and hardware.
Exactly on the same boat. I´ve rocked iphones for some times. Now I´m giving S20 a chance. But I´m really worried and if something like this happens I´ll go back and never gonna grab any Samsung again.
i dropped my s20 and cracked the bottom left bit, i was fine running it for about 6 months until green line appeared, and because of that crack samsung declined any free repairs or even compensation, switched to an iphone 11 pro max now
@@jcsk8 a lot of you are plain stupid. This is not a Samsung problem, this is the problem of any manufacturer which uses OLED screen like Tecno, LG, Apple, OnePlus, Oppo, vivo, Huawei, Xiaomi, realme, Poco, honor, Asus, Infinix..... It's the AMOLED technology which is the problem, it's not enough mature and durable to replace IPS, which is unlikely to happen. A lot of you love deep blacks, then enjoy the deepest black with the green lines and burn ins as bonuses 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same things happen to me as well. I got this Note 20 Ultra 5G in Sri Lanka in 2021. a few months after Samsung launched this phone, it was super expensive here, when almost the warranty period is over as same in you video, kind of Grey wavy appearance on my display and it stood up to few days, I couldn't be able to use my phone at the time, I struggled a lot during those few days as I am working as a doctor I needed my phone to be with me all the times. A few days after it disappeared then again at around in one month it appeared and this time it lasted for a month. I have no any Samsung service centre nearby and I don't know what to do now. I was waiting and I did some adjustments in the colour, the brightness and the display tones in the settings to get some view out of the Grey wavy Screen. I used the phone terribly during that period with grey screen and my colleagues were laughing at it (it was definitely at Samsung). around one month after it dissappeared and then after few days I got a green vertical line on the right side of my phone, the next morning I got another one on the same side then next month I got another one on the middle. (there were no more physical damage or drop during these period) I opted to use Samsung phones after using the iPhones for a very long time, even I was arguing with my family members about Samsung phones saying samsung phones capabilities. then this has happened to me, and all are laughing at me. I have now decided that I will never ever buy a Samsung product in future. Its total waste of money pYing huge amount of money to use one and half year? "Samsung" you have to develop your hardwares, never sell undergrade electronics to public. Guys, Is there any international law against it? Please somebody let me know.😊 I want to ask Samsung a question, how can thousands of mobile phones can get same issues at the same time in your high spec mobile phones? you cannot simply deny saying it as physical damage, it's not at all. Samsung you have to look into this issues otherwise you will face very serious consequences in Smartphone marketing.
From the Philippines i've got same problem with my S20+ (which i bought out of my retirement pay and very well taken cared like a jewel for i know it will be hard for me to get a new one) that started an hour ago. I tried looking for answers until i found your video. Thank yor for sharing your experience.
This is the same issue that happened with my Galaxy Note 8. It started with a green line then it multiplied. It happened to be the same vertical lines. I didn't bother to bring it to the service center as it is already out of the manufacturer's warranty. My phone doesn't have any cracks at all and to this day, everything is working smoothly it's just that the green lines are terrible. I ended up using it only as a spare phone now. Software updates and TS I've done did not fix it. I guess @Samsung should address this since many customers are having the same issue with the same exact scenario.
Hi! To have it fixed we've got to pay 17k up to replace the screen, they wont admit that something is wrong with the unit. My option is to wait for it to black out totally before i discard or replace it while keeping my files on a separate device.🙂
@@iamkalisia hi. May I know the current status of your phone? Did you have it fix sa service center po? Encountered the green line issue just today. And samsung agent told me that charges will apply because its out of warranty. My s21 ultra is only 18 months old
I bought S20+ to me and my wife two years ago. At the beginning of this summer my wife's phone had this issue. We had no choice but to pay for the screen replacement. A day after replacement, the vertical green line appeared on my phone too! Couldn't believe the odds it could happen to us both and within so short time period.
Yep!same as happening to my Samsung S21 Ultra 5G When I woke up this morning it was okay so I've charged it after 30mins I opened it and there was a green light appeared. Which is confusing given that it was just fine when I charged it..
I am getting same green vertical line since afternoon today. Initially it started with one vertical line and by evening there are 2 vertical lines. Neither this phone was dropped nor had any contact with water or liquid. Out of blue i am suddenly getting this green lines. This S20 Plus is my 6th Samsung phone in my family. I am going to go to service station soon. If they ask me shell out full money for replacement of svreen then i am sure to switch to iPhone mostly. Money is not a problem but problem is brand is taking customer for granted. Let Samsung be next Nokia if attitude remains same.
I think the S20 Series is really problematic in terms of screen issues. Mine had green screen RIGHT AFTER the warranty ends. I can see/read some of the texts, but, it looks like it's melting so it's really hard to do so. What's really disappointing is I never dropped it. And then let's talk about the COST OF REPAIR-you could buy a new mid-range phone 🤦🏽♀️ So never again with Samsung
I was about to buy this phone, but not anymore, not even a Samsung. If an user is gonna pay their expensive costs, should have at least a proper technical support from the brand when facing this no sense issues which are clearly factory faults. Thank you for the video ❤️
What we expect from purchasing a flagship level smartphone is a longer lifetime or durability. that's not the case for samsung, as it is immediately broken after warranty ends.
As an old Samsung fan, I was also recruited by the s20+ and gave me a vertical pink line. I called the customer service repair center and asked for 1600 RMB. Some time ago, the back glue was automatically degummed. I am glad that I repaired it.
I got it fixed from the service center for free. Mine was out of warranty and samsung team will check for any physical damages or water damages. If everything passes you will get a free display change.
Maniyan, you are definitely lucky or a set of new instructions have gone from Samsung India customer service team to service centers. I am super happy for you bro!
Iam also facing the same issue right now bro.. green line in display.. Iam from pondicherry.. can u post me place of service center u got replacement.. it useful for me to spoke in my service place
i've used samsung phones for so long but this problem occurred after i upgraded s21 plus ultra... the phone was just fine, no damage... i've been taking care of it so well but just after 2 years then the green line suddenly appeared from no where while i was using the phone and after few minutes i received new firmware update.. so i just updated my phone but the line still was there but after few minutes the line gone then the next day the line reappeared... my phone always getting too hot after the new update ( few updates back before the current update).. my samsung s8 still working fine without any issues... so i guess this is the marketing strategy to make us to buy new phone constantly...
I have got the similar issue since yesterday and hence landed up to watch this video. Thanks for this video and user comments which helped me to stay calm as this issue is not only with my S22+ device. I have visited Samsung Service centre today and they kept my phone after initial inspection. They would confirm on this in 5-7 days time and based on approval from Samsung they would do it free of cost else I have to pay.... let's see fingers crossed.
Having a similar problem. A few days ago, a thin green line appeared on my S20 Plus, it started out very faint and barely unnoticeable, also when I turned the screen off and on, it went away, but very soon it just kept getting brighter and more noticeable, until it got to the point like in the video. I'm definitely done with samsung, I think I might actually switch to an iPhone, or to a Google Pixel at least.
it's happening in Bangladesh as well. Samsung just announced they will replace displays for free if it is purchased from any Samsung authorized shops here, even if it's out of warranty.
Mine literally just did this same thing but at the bottom of the screen. Mine is an A15 that I just recently bought. I think I'm still in the warranty period. I was typing a text and it just appeared! Freaked out! So glad to know there are apparently a lot of others with this issue! Gonna make sure everything is backed up RIGHT NOW!! Like you, I don't want to lose any of my information and such!! Thanks for posting! Sorry you had such an ordeal!!
Facing the same issue just now and glad someone talking regarding this. Will tweet with mention shortly :) Im also a big fan of Samsung but this hurts.
I feel you. Watching your video with a green line and frustrated that this samsung phone has given me no peace throughout my ownership. Just right before this was an audio issue and I could not take work calls like a normal human being. The cost of repair is unjustified, I've never damaged it. Many years advocating for Samsung, I'm out!
I've got a similar issue on my S20 ultra post july update There are faint horizontal white lines visible all over the display which can be observed all the time irrespective of the content that's being displayed (easily visible with white backgrounds). even after August patch display still shows these lines. rest of phone functions normally. Done all kind of settings/formatting options. Device is nearly 2 yr old no scratches or dent or water damage randomly appeared which I've noticed particularly after july update. This seems to be the early stages of white screen problem. Glad to see some people's have got their display replaced free of cost. Will be visiting service center by the end of this month 🤞. This is my first android phone after using ios (4 iphones) for the past 9 years. Bought only for the quality of the samsung's display. TBH it's better than my previous iphones but i haven't got any reliablity issues on ios. I've also recommended lots my friends and family to get Samsung devices only for the display which is working fine for them😅. My Next device ios or android depends on Samsung service center.🤞🤞🤞
My S20+ issue started after August security patch. I noticed fine flickering on my calculator app with white background. A few days after that the display went nuts. So be prepared for what's coming. Back up data and get ready to fight.
@@achilles64 yeah screen had gone green after August patch. Luckily I've took backup and configured both link to windows and dex. Did reset, cleared cache and even dowgraded to June patch using Odin , nothing worked. Samsung service center guy denied my request for the FOC screen replacement as it's only available for s20+ and only for green vertical line problem. 17k for new replacement. Customer care is a complete joke can't get a proper reply, only generic answers. couldn't raise a complaint only taken as a request and they cancel request stating it's out of policy. Gave up and switched to my old beater for a peace of mind. Got a quote from local repair shop which can fix this problem by doing flex bonding with the same display for 6k. Will do that in the coming month and probably sell it. Totally frustrated and disappointed with the kind of customer service for a premium product. Even RUclipsrs aren't getting a proper reply for the battery problems in older stored samsung as we speak.
@@nasuruddinnaufal7658 Yes.. I wonder if the battery issue is connected with the bad screens. As I've read they are replacing both the screen and the battery in approved cases. If the screen is faulty then why touch the battery?
@@achilles64 yup all the FOC Replacement includes both battery and screen with the frame and also there a slight gap developed in rear panel near camera module. I guess everything is connected. By the time when my screen gone green the phone was running a bit hot than normal. Did you get the free replacement for your s20+ for green screen or did they reject yours stating only for vertical screen?
@@nasuruddinnaufal7658 Phone was running quite hot after the update. I went to the service center where they straight away told new screen for 16k. After that I researched and found all this. I tagged Samsung in a twitter post and they asked for my contact details. Let's see
I also have a similar problem. Pink vertical line appeared from no where on my Samsung Galaxy S20 plus. The service person said the same things told to you. I am at a loss now.
Same here for my S20+, it started 1 green vertical line and then another line added. Very disappointing. I invested to this phone because I thought it has a quality that I can rely on for years.
Along the same lines...my Note20 ultra fell from the counter after i nudged it with my elbow. It wasnt a particularly hard fall. No physical damage. However, the screen went out. I was able to massage the screen back on but the touch screen was out. Also i did have some green pixels across my phone too, after the fall. Side note, i did not have a protector on my phone but ultimately, im convinced theres a defect in the way the screen and touch are designed. Im currently enjoying my first iphone. There is a lesson here.
This is the same issue that happened with my Galaxy Note 8. It started with a green line then it multiplied. It happened to be in the same position as yours. I didn't bother to bring it to the service center as it is already out of the manufacturer's warranty. Software updates and TS I've done did not fix it. I guess @Samsung should address this since many customers are having the same issue with the same exact scenario.
If you ever unfortunately bought Samsung and willing to raise a complaint do it over samsung community, you'll find much more issues which are going to occur in your phone before hand because there are numerous people faced the same issue and it occurs like a cascade of events in this device
Are you still using that phone? I have a S10 and there is a green line since 1-2 months ago. Now I have a pink line too since 1 week ago. I wonder how long I can use the phone before screen gets more affected. Did it worsen over time?
Same issue with my Note 20 Ultra, it went flickering then turns white screen. This happens a few weeks after the update came out. I bought it to Samsung Service and advised the screen needs to be replaced. I truly believe this problem was due to system patches on new updates causing to destroy the lcd connector or the screen itself. Now I decided to switch to other brand after being a Samsung user for years 😢
I've had similar issues with Samsung's customer service, which is a major reason why I'm considering switching to Apple. Thanks for sharing the helpful video! It’s great for anyone who’s trying to decide between Samsung and other brands.
This happened to my S9 about for days following my last available system update. It really looks like deliberate sabotage by Samsung to encourage users to replace their phones. And is seems like a massive fraud issue being ignored
Im from Philippines ,same thing happen to my samsung s 22 ultra . Out of nowhere one green line appear on my phone screen. I been using this for almost 3 years , hoping this problem should reach Samsung officials !
I also own a Samsung M52 5G which I bought on 30/10/2021 and suddenly on 2nd January 2024 a green line appeared in the screen. I am using the mobile very carefully and it is in brand new condition. No physical damage. I took it to the service center but they are asking for change of Display on chargeable basis. I complained to the customer service center they are telling that it is out of warranty of 1 year. Have I bought this costly phone from a reputed company to use only 1 year? Then better go for cheaper phone use 1 year and change. What is the use of buying from a reputed company. I am still fighting for a free replacement of the display. Other companies can take the responsibility and change free of cost, then why not Samsung. They have to accept their fault and give free display replacement.
I woke up to check my phone (samsung galaxy S20+ ) this morning. I was shocked to see the vertical green line as you described. When I went to sleep last night my phone functions normally nothing i did to say it caused the issue. To find out on the internet it is a common problem with so many people, now I believe the samsung company did play a part on this so people will spend more money on their samsung products. Im yet to find out how to resolve this problem before I even considering to spend money...
Me too dear, mine started 2 months back with a single line, but as I write to you right now, I have seven lines on the screen. They keep adding. Just after the second line, I met 3 different technicians, and all of them are telling me 150,000fcfa (Cameroon currency) to change the screen
Same issue with me no phone damage. I Kept phone on charging without any issues and after 30 mins of charge when I take my phone back it was having pink vertical line. I visited nearest service center and tried to convince them there was no physical damage. But the staff was rude and was bleeding on me that you have misused phone and that can be only solved by 18k rupees as of now.. what a solution and support provided by Samsung.
Well your right, it is a hardware issue. And it occurs after warranty and update. Do you think they are updating the firmware to really get this kind of issue on the screen?
just had mine rn, this phone was given to me as a gift for christmas and today I got the vertical green line. With how samsung works I can already assure myself that talking to their agents wouldn't fare much substance, idk why this green line appeared I never dropped or had my phone go through sum rigorous things
Just walked into our recording studio this morning, booted up my Samsung S20+ to prep for shorts next Monday and I had EXACTLY this same green line on the screen. Had the phone for 2 years now, no issues, no damage, no nothing. It just sits in the studio on an OSMO 4 all day long and this happened. 😭
Yo same here. My phone had its 2 years anniversary just on Feb this year. After an update, roughly a month or 2 ago, my phone suddenly has a green line. Literally in the middle of the day while I was working. Fine in the morning. After lunch, BAAAM. Seems like this happened to many phones that just passed the 2 years mark. How is this coincidental anymore
Just a few days ago a single purple line appeared on my S20 ultra 5g device. After 3 or 4 days another single purple line appeared next to it. This is very disappointing for me because before 2023 started I also experienced that some kind of a white noise on my screen. My solution for that was to familiarize my screen buttons so that I can play a video from gallery and wait for the screen to be normal again. After a new software update the problem just disappeared. But now, this purple line appeared. I'm more disappointed with Samsung after watching this video. Disappointing 😞 Now, I'm thinking about checking other Android phones like POCO. 🤔
Hi, nice to hear am not the only sucker stuck with 10 green lines on my crappy S20 plus. The replacement screen here in Mexico, costs about the same as the phone itself, totally ridiculous.
This has just appeared in the exact same spot on my S20+ while I was in bed watching RUclips. At first it disappeared when I closed the app and went away for 20 minutes or so but now it's back and won't go away...
Youre review was 1 to 1 on the spot. I had the same exact same issue and i escalated it in the exact same way and i got no help from Samsung whatsoever. They insisted that it was due to physical damage. Sigh.
The Samsung S10+ of my Sister was stored in for 1 year in a room that has perfect storing temperature and humidity conditions. When we left there, the screen was perfect, now has one green line in the middle of screen.
Started facing these issues out of nowhere... The green and pink lines have emerged out of nowhere... Not a single damage on the phone... Updated the phone and suddenly next morning during breakfast there are green lines and then after couple of hours the pink ones also have started coming!!! If Samsung wants to retain its customer they need to be giving free services to these kind of issues wherein its not only a single person with this issue but many of them round the world!!! Does Samsung care about its customers?? How much should a customer throw money for repairs? and repairs for issues that are actually by Samsung and not an individual fault!!
it was happen to me same like u. I used samsung note 20 ultra. after 3 years no more warranty for this issue. Its happen a week after i updated my phone. Say no to SAMSUNG after this. #samsungscam
I have a samsung S20 plus and i keep on getting line after line meaning i now have 3 lines 2 green 1 pink and its really annoying that i payed 1 Thousand pounds for my s20 plus for this to happen.
i just found this video over a Google search about Samsung Greenline. at my s23 which i bought in April of 2023 i just have the slightly blurry text scanning problem but nothing else. since the s24 comes with Exynos in Europe again i will go with the Asus Rog Phone 8 in the next month. after far more than 10 years of Samsung phones, tablets, TVs and kitchen devices i finally leaving the Samsung camp. i just read about the corruption issues and other things which i don't wanna talk about here. i'm definitely done with this company.
5 days back I have the same problem a pink line in the center of my screen in my samsung s20 plus phone. After software update just happened before 2 days, the problem occures. I have contacted with the samsung team but they were polietly refused to do any help as the warranty period is already over and suggested to go to samsung care for screen replacement.
Hello Brother, I had this issue started in June with 1 Green line followed by 2 more green lines within 3 weeks. And today the 4th vertical line showed up and its pink line this time. Approached Samsung SC and received their template response. The lines appeared out of nowhere when i was using the phone plugged on for charging.
Hi Melhi, sorry to hear that. You should call up Samsung Customer Care once and speak to them. Some people are sharing, that their phones got repaired without cost.
Sigh. I'm glad to have found this comment section. So I just put my Note 20 ultra on charge and was just watching a movie and relaxing, but I go to pick it up and there's a green line. The phone hasn't fallen down or anything. This is kind of frustrating but at least the screen still works.
Samsung and other Android phones are experiencing display issues with green lines, which are believed to be caused by Android OS updates. While some companies have replaced affected devices, Samsung has reportedly ignored its customers. People who spent over $1800 to buy the S23 model were also left without assistance. It's concerning that an update from them is damaging RGB display LEDs, and they are not addressing the users' concerns. Consider avoiding Samsung.
Hi, thank you for the video. Turned up here because I too started having this issue on my S20+ all of a sudden this morning (vertical green line close to the centre). No physical damage that I can think of. Unfortunately even my extended warranty expired just a month back. I am currently in the process of relocating so I unfortunately don't even have time to take it to a service cntre immediately and would need to wait a couple of weeks at least. Could you tell me, how long your screen lasted before it turned fully white/static-like? And do you know if others who had the green line issue also faced your issue of the screen going completely white, or if their screen just kept having the green line only? I want to try so that this screen keeps this way at least for a month more so then I'll have time to take it to the service centre - really hoping that it doesn't die on me too soon.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. I cannot be sure about others, but from my first green line to it going completely white, there was 2.5 months of a difference. Just travel carefully, which means have a backup of any important information also available with you in another form, printed or on your laptop etc. One of the biggest hurdle for me was looking for numbers even if I had access to other phones around me. So keep important contacts in some form available with you. Just in case the phone screen goes total white, you don't find yourself in a similar situation like me.
@@TechTakeaway thank you for the info! May I also ask, how long has it been since your screen replacement, and is the new display working fine? I am concerned that even if I get my screen replaced, if the issue might just recur and then I'd need a replacement again... At least thankfully, I use two phones, so I have my other phone (a mid-range Samsung) as back-up in case this one goes out too soon... Which would still be sad as so far I was really loving the quality of this flagship phone, and getting it repaired seems will cost quite a bit (and as my luck would have it, even my extended warranty expired just last month). Let's hope this lasts for a while, and maybe, hopefully, Samsung releases some sort of a fux for this soon, instead if turning a complete deaf ear!
@@cutepurplestar bro my note 10 lite goes the same after updating the first white line then after 4 days I realise there are stains on the right corner where the white line is available and it's increasing day by day like vibgyor I was planning to upgrade on s22ultra but now I changed my thoughts as after 2 years may same issue with them also
Same thing happened to me on s7 edge way back 2017… I bought the phone 2016 it has 1 year warranty then I had same green line 3 days before the warranty would expire..after few hours of having the green line.. the screen turned black.. I had it repaired for free since it was within the warranty… but after few months of using… I sold the unit and had an upgrade to note 9 then it happened again but my phone fell from my bed thats why there was a green line had to replace the screen like it was super expensive… after that I tried few android phones then switched to iphone no more samsung for me… hehe
Same issue on my S20+. Now i have total of 5 lines on my screen. First 2 already turned white and the other 3 are still green. Almost every month i get 1 addition green line. Thanks samsung GREAT COSTUMER SERVICE now i need to change brand!.
I experience the same issue with my Samsung S20+ just recently. A single green line on screen pop up a week ago. Today another line pop up. I've been using this phone almost three years now. I've never drop my phone. I rarely took my phone out of the case. According to your experience.... i feel like I'll never get my phone fixed. Getting a new phone probably the best solution. #frustratedguy
I have same experience with my Note 20 ultra 5g. Out of nowhere, the screen just developed green line, this is like after 6 months of using it. Like a month after the first line appeared, a second line showed up on the screen. I don't have such amount to change the screen, so I kept on using it like that. But I won't use a Samsung phone anymore.
2 yrs back i bought s22. Now I'm facing pink line in s22. Customer care told they won't repair it free of cost. They are charging me almost 20k. From now in i will not buy Samsung phones. Disappointed with such a big brand.
Had exactly same problem as yours. Two green vertical lines. I'm still using it with these lines. Samsung should have replaced the screen free of charge as it is a manufacturing defect
This is the exact reason why I switched to Apple, back in 2020 I bought the Note 20 Ultra 5g it only lasted about a year when this issue started to appear, after seeing the green line, I immediately did my research and found out that this is a common issue on galaxy 20 series, I did not even bother with the warranty because I think that it might re-occur again even if I had it fixed since this is a common issue, with that in mind, I can't afford to lose access to my phone since I mostly use it for mobile banking and communicating with my clients, so I just got myself an Iphone and sold my defective Note 20 in the marketplace for a very cheap price, and it sucks because I was a solid Samsung user eversince the Galaxy s3 era, and never had any bad experience with my previous Samsung phones, infact my S10 5G still works up to this day even though the front and back glass are already cracked it still works fine.
I had it replaced during the warranty period and guess what: after sharply 1 year I've got same problem. No more Samsung for me. And this is not limited to only Samsung S20+... sadly.

Yeah, im from the Philippines & last night my samsung note 20 ultra popped a green vertical line. I believe many are experiencing this globally. DO NOT BUY HIGH-END SAMSUNG CELLPHONES ANYMORE SINCE IT ONLY LAST FOR 3 YEARS.
I have also noticed two straight lines in my Galaxy A71, though still not that visible. I thought these green or pink line issues are just remote cases, but it seems that this is very common among Samsung phones.
The same thing is happening with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE right now. I just bought it 2 months ago and suddenly I see a pink line out of nowhere. It really angers me...
This is a hardware issue. Today i got green line on my s20+ out of nowhere then i took the screenshot and send it to another device on that screenshot there was no greenline.
Mine (S20+) must of have overheard me about upgrading soon and decided to pop a pink line out of nowhere with no physical damage, just a defective hardware. My old phone (S6) screen however still working to this day. I am not a person who breaks screens, never.
Just got this problem now with my samsung galaxy s21+. Any tips on how to fix this thing? I badly need my phone until my board exams this coming february. So disappointed with samsung, im a samsung user since 2010s.
Same issue since a month ago, I have a note 20 ultra, and it has one green line and two pink lines, it happened after a software update, and every Thursday, it appears a new line, Samsung just told me that I had to pay for the replacement which costs the same as a new phone. I was thinking of getting an S23 but after checking all the reviews with the most recent phones, I'm afraid to get a Samsung again. This is such a negative experience! 😢
My mom's S22 Ultra has the same issue. A vertical green line appeared out of nowhere. Prior to this, my mom bought her S22 Ultra by upgrading her S10 as offered by Samsung physical store as her screens features are fading in and out. Ang guess what? No physical damage. My mom was very careful with her phone and never stored it somewhere that's loaded. Seems like this is how they make money.
I'm from Indonesia and my Samsung s20+ has the same problem which is green line on the screen (come from nowhere) knowing how struggle you are when coming to the service center now I lost respect with this brand. thanks for the information.
I had a similar situation, my S20 plus has been working perfectly for 4 years not even a single scratch but earlier this year in January when i was boarding the plane from Karachi, Pakistan to Doha, Qatar this green line popped up and then soon a white line the phone has no physical damage whatsoever and the screen replacement costs more than than double of the phone itself
Same issue here a month ago but Samsung service centre Singapore did the swap for free just make sure no drop, water damage etc. Took a few days to replace but a brand new screen on cheers
Just today, about 2 hours ago, no drop or physical damage, Iv'e used my Note 20 Ultra a few hours before I charged it and put it on a desk. After my phone got fully charged, a green vertical line on the right side of the screen just popped out of nowhere.
the same thing happened to me several hours ago. I left my phone on the table and when I was about to use it, there was a vertical line on my screen. :(
I'm currently facing the same issue on my Note 20 Ultra. It appeared suddenly yesterday May 21, 2023, while I'm just scrolling on my TikTok. I invested a lot in this phone thinking that it would be worth it and sadly this happened.
Just got the green line a few days ago on my S20+ that's almost4 yrs old. Now its more white then green. Custom support is pushing hard core on getting a upgrade. Or i can send it in under insurance claim for $275 and they will send me a refurbished one. This is what we get after all that money for their FLAGSHIP Phone!!!
Now the screen replacement is Rs.18,600. Like you exactly mentioned it's not about the amount but the service response given. Lost a customer again, even I will never buy nor advocate anyone to purchase an Samsung phone
Thanks for sharing that Samrat. I am sure other viewers reading comments will benefit from this.
Which model you are having mr. Samrat? I am now facing the same issue in my S21 ultra and it's out of warranty. Please share the process in details.
@@bugbuggy3866 any update? My phone just got the line, I am planning to approach a service center tomorrow
I have the same issue with my Samsung S20+ now. No physical damage, had taken with utmost care.
same
How rare that there are thousands of customers experiencing the same issue.
And I just got this issue...
I got the same😔 completely out of nowhere 😫😫
Same here damn it! is it safe to use the device or needed a replacement asap?
what software version do you have in your s20+ since this issue appeared?

Same but I got one line green is irritating 😢

But like you said, other online markets aren't giving good exchange deals for S20+ (even Samsung has already reduced it's exchange value for S20+ , which is a bummer 🥲)
Hopefully, Samsung really up their game when it comes to QC, otherwise it's going to affect their brand!
No physical damage or water damage, vertical line just pop out after warranty ends. And now blank screen with green lines. Well done.
Apparently the display doesn't need any replacement. The flex connector of the display is the issue and there are countless videos showing screens working perfectly after changing the flex cable. Right from S20 series to S22 have this issue.
Surprising... Why Samsung is wasting their money on screen replacement?
@@sandeepkhopade just want to add, the reason is most service centers will replace components fully as one of their marketing technique to sell spare parts for example when one of the ic in the mobo of a laptop is broken, almost all customer service will give you the offer to replace one mobo and that's the only thing all brand, the solution is going to the maintenance shop and ask them to fix that specific component
How can I change the flex cable ?

@@florenceokhajaguan2558 It needs to be replaced by a competent technician
I know what you mean by missing the ease of android in general.
Exactly on the same boat. I´ve rocked iphones for some times. Now I´m giving S20 a chance. But I´m really worried and if something like this happens I´ll go back and never gonna grab any Samsung again.
Also happened to me
i dropped my s20 and cracked the bottom left bit, i was fine running it for about 6 months until green line appeared, and because of that crack samsung declined any free repairs or even compensation, switched to an iphone 11 pro max now
@@jcsk8 a lot of you are plain stupid.
Please somebody let me know.😊
I want to ask Samsung a question, how can thousands of mobile phones can get same issues at the same time in your high spec mobile phones? you cannot simply deny saying it as physical damage, it's not at all. Samsung you have to look into this issues otherwise you will face very serious consequences in Smartphone marketing.
Yeah i had the same problem...then i connect my device to another Samsung phone for 5mind then it go back to normal...then immediately i sell it.
Same issue happened to me to my Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra. 8 green lines appeared now. I hate Samsung

I tried looking for answers until i found your video. Thank yor for sharing your experience.
Same here, not I have 4 green lines and 1 white line. Samsung is pathetic to customer care.
Hey Teng. Any luck with getting it fixed sa service center? Mine just started. Like in the last hour.
Hi! To have it fixed we've got to pay 17k up to replace the screen, they wont admit that something is wrong with the unit. My option is to wait for it to black out totally before i discard or replace it while keeping my files on a separate device.🙂

I'm sorry to tell you that the vertical line will turn into a white screen in a few days! I have already paid for the screen

What we expect from purchasing a flagship level smartphone is a longer lifetime or durability. that's not the case for samsung, as it is immediately broken after warranty ends.
@@18octaner Exactly! Samsung said three OS upgrades and four security updates for this model, and the screen last between one to two years.

I have the same issue. So the sumsang company has designed that every Samsung phone would experience green lines after warranty lapse?
i've used samsung phones for so long but this problem occurred after i upgraded s21 plus ultra... the phone was just fine, no damage... i've been taking care of it so well but just after 2 years then the green line suddenly appeared from no where while i was using the phone and after few minutes i received new firmware update.. so i just updated my phone but the line still was there but after few minutes the line gone then the next day the line reappeared... my phone always getting too hot after the new update ( few updates back before the current update).. my samsung s8 still working fine without any issues... so i guess this is the marketing strategy to make us to buy new phone constantly...
I have got the similar issue since yesterday and hence landed up to watch this video. Thanks for this video and user comments which helped me to stay calm as this issue is not only with my S22+ device. I have visited Samsung Service centre today and they kept my phone after initial inspection. I've got a similar issue on my S20 ultra post july update
There are faint horizontal white lines visible all over the display which can be observed all the time irrespective of the content that's being displayed (easily visible with white backgrounds). even after August patch display still shows these lines. rest of phone functions normally.

Bro is green line on your s20+ expending on display?
Same here for my S20+, it started 1 green vertical line and then another line added. Very disappointing. I invested to this phone because I thought it has a quality that I can rely on for years.
Hi Share Ko Lang, have you shown it to the service centre?
Me also
Along the same lines...my Note20 ultra fell from the counter after i nudged it with my elbow.
@@shasha96613 yes it will multiply
And Yes I am facing the same issue because I didnt make any investigation prior to buy my S20+ but Thankyou for this video. Now I feel not alone.
Now I decided to switch to other brand after being a Samsung user for years 😢
Same a71 galaxy from inida
Same. I bought this last Feb 2022.. Just got this issue yesterday
My S20+ has the same issue green line, no damage to screen, or any scratches
same
I woke up to check my phone (samsung galaxy S20+ ) this morning.
Mine was S22+ with the same issue, no physical damage, a pink line just pop out
Same
same issu
Disappointing 😞
Now, I'm thinking about checking other Android phones like POCO.
Sigh.
Same here.
The Samsung S10+ of my Sister was stored in for 1 year in a room that has perfect storing temperature and humidity conditions. When we left there, the screen was perfect, now has one green line in the middle of screen.
I have same. Green line in middle of screen suddenly.
Seems even in warranty they may not cover screen issues. :(
same story here 😔, after an update my S20+ started to have lines.. now, my screen got at least 16 lines in it. pink, green and whites
Rainbows screen 😅🥲
same as mine
Mine started with 1 line in jan 2023,not it's 8 lines 😕
Started facing these issues out of nowhere... The green and pink lines have emerged out of nowhere... Not a single damage on the phone... Updated the phone and suddenly next morning during breakfast there are green lines and then after couple of hours the pink ones also have started coming!!! If Samsung wants to retain its customer they need to be giving free services to these kind of issues wherein its not only a single person with this issue but many of them round the world!!!
Does Samsung care about its customers?? How much should a customer throw money for repairs? and repairs for issues that are actually by Samsung and not an individual fault!!
I'm having same issue with my Samsung S20 plus phone.. 😢😢😢
Poor device quality
it was happen to me same like u.
Not me watching this with my S20+ phone with a green light on it 😭
Wanted to buy this phone I better go to iphone then 😅
5 days back I have the same problem a pink line in the center of my screen in my samsung s20 plus phone.
That what I have on my note 9..and I often experience total green white out on bottom half
Sigh. I'm glad to have found this comment section. So I just put my Note 20 ultra on charge and was just watching a movie and relaxing, but I go to pick it up and there's a green line. The phone hasn't fallen down or anything. This is kind of frustrating but at least the screen still works.
Same with mine.....
Any solution to this ..
From nigeria 😊
@PhebeOlatunbosun any solution I've got a similar issue
out of all the S series I think the S20 series is the only one heavily affected by this
S21 plus too 😢
Samsung and other Android phones are experiencing display issues with green lines, which are believed to be caused by Android OS updates.
@@cutepurplestar bro my note 10 lite goes the same after updating the first white line then after 4 days I realise there are stains on the right corner where the white line is available and it's increasing day by day like vibgyor I was planning to upgrade on s22ultra but now I changed my thoughts as after 2 years may same issue with them also
I also proud to be Samsung Green line club. And never back again to Sansung. Thanks
Exactly same problem here
Had exactly same problem as yours. Two green vertical lines. I'm still using it with these lines. Samsung should have replaced the screen free of charge as it is a manufacturing defect
I have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S21 5G
Exactly.. same phone same issue
Hey its not just the newest phones. I had a s8.... And it happened, eventually the WHOLE SCREEN (PHONE) DIED!
Seems like they did something during an update in that case Phillip. Else why would an S8 get affected.
Moral of the story is, don't buy samsung phones 😢
Wrong?

It happens to other brands as well, most that have OLED ones
It's not only Samsung this problem is in many brands smartphone like OnePlus, nothing,Motorola,Vivo, etc.
I'm from Indonesia
and my Samsung s20+ has the same problem which is green line on the screen (come from nowhere)
knowing how struggle you are when coming to the service center now I lost respect with this brand.
thanks for the information.
Same bro, came out of nowhere! What's the condition now?
Still 1 line but the green color changed to pink/purple.
Same her any solution
the same thing happened to me several hours ago. I left my phone on the table and when I was about to use it, there was a vertical line on my screen. :(
I'm currently facing the same issue on my Note 20 Ultra. It appeared suddenly yesterday May 21, 2023, while I'm just scrolling on my TikTok. I invested a lot in this phone thinking that it would be worth it and sadly this happened.
i too have officially joined the club. never had an iPhone but now i'm tempted 😤
I'm samsung user but i agree that you should speak up about this louder to prevent it to be happened later on their products
