The best pair of slip joint pliers you can own. I purchased a set off of a jobber wagon years ago (Mac I think) for $60. Came with slip joint, needle nose, and side cutters.
I was wondering why if your using csst gas pipe would you still need the flexible gas pipe. We use steel pipe all the way to meter looks better, yet csst installs faster and proven to function just as good. Yet the flexible line is just a vibration damper, when using rigid steel pipe. Yet csst can handle vibration. Is it local code? Generac gives the option of using. Yet it does help with final connection
Hey bud hope your well. Good question, you & I know by code what ever is more stringent trumps. Saying that manufacture want us to use appliance hose. The only thing its redundant if your using csst. Although by code we need a drip pocket 🤫 so you will be rigid firm out of the appliance anyways, then steel line, followed by csst. The only way to get 100% confirmation is to contact Generac & see if its ok. If they say it is make sure you document time and who you talked to. Unless you already know the answer. Cheers.
I’m worried about a natural gas line I ran for a generac 24k generator. I ran a 1” pipe and the generator is like about 60’ away from the meter. The worst part is that they poured a sidewalk over the gas line. I have a feeling it will be fine but I’m still worried. I don’t even want to connect this thing, don’t have the experience working with generators, I just do plumbing.
Looks good. I am probably going to get a Generac 24KW. Do you know what is a fair price range to have a certified contractor run the gas line from the generator to the gas meter? It will be anywhere from 7--8 ft between the generator and my gas meter? What important question(s) should I ask the contractor when he is running the gas line? I live in GA.
Don't need a contractor just have to follow these directions and test with dish soap and water on the line when done to verify there are no small leaks.
@@HVACRNorth but because it's still on same run as house whatever run is the longest (one u just installed or one already installed) would need to used as the length for measuring your run correct??
At the time the manufacturer literature stated that the flex line can not be bent. Gas company did inspect & all was ok. Maybe I got away with it this time. I'll be looking in to that for sure. Thanks for the feedback
Absolutely... as long as you conform to local codes. Be aware local code will identify burial depth (typically at least 12 inches) and the pipe must be Polyethylene gas piping specifically engineered and certified for the underground environment. You cannot bury black pipe or galvanized as both will deteriorate over time.
Is a secondary regulator necessary before the unit. I'm using a 2# meter with an 85 ft. run between them. The installer put one in and my unit won't run.
Anything after the first reg won’t have enough pressure to open a second one so I’m assuming it’s not working because it’s not getting gas. I work for a different gas company though so our practice might be different from yours so this is really just my opinion
@@brandonmajor4789 as it turned out. The second regulator was needed. The plumber used a very cheap model that allowed excessive pressure to the generator while idle. The valve couldn't open against it to start unit.
I new someone would catch that. Of course you did lol ...oh yea Goodman and keepright(keeprite) lol dime a dozen. The crazy thing is i see them in many million dollar homes.
I suggest using a second wrench to stabilize the fixed side of the piping when torqueing down. Otherwise you risk breaking something.
Of course thanks.
Not just basic low baller adjustables but Knipex Pliers Wrench, big baller tools.
Your right lol

tbh it should be fine. i wouldn't sweat it.
@@HVACRNorth thanks man. I will keep my fingers crossed. They are going to test it on Tuesday.
@@ZR1Terror let me know
Electrician tested it out and it worked fine!!
I didn't think you were supposed to use CSST outside, just a question. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
NP, Yes for sure your aloud too. Make sure its supported & sleeved through an outside wall & your good;) . Thanks
Depends on state in which you are in. Same with the bushing used, I cannot pass inspection with a bush in. Depends on state.
What about you flood out what good is it setting on ground.. I have mine setting 7 feet off ground
my Personal is.
What is the brand name of the outdoor yellow flexible gas line?
Gastite bud

I thought you aren’t supposed to Teflon gas pipe, because it could clog
Nop aloud brother
What brand of pliers is that you're using. I've never seen a pair with no teeth! I'd like to grab a pair! Thanks
Knipex. They are the cats meow for everything, lol check them out. Cheers
I realize this may be a dumb question but why can’t you use the flexible line the whole way?
You can bud. Give homeowner options. In this case he wanted rigid. I feel rigid outside is ascetically more pleasing.
Is there a code for how many feet the Gas meter should be from the Generator? Thanks
yes depends on derestriction
How did u size it? Longest run method? If so did u the line in the house? To get Longest run
Ran from a dedicated line from Meter.

Hey use black lettering the blue is hard to see
Cool vid
only thing wrong here, the flex line has to go horizontal behind unit per manufacturer

*recommended* not required.
Can you bury that gas line? Our meter is out front and I don't want anybody fucking around with it.

Is there bunch of Goodman units up there in Canada like there is in U.S.? I thought Canadians knows better than buying that crap. Lol

Can I run 3/4 20 ft to unit? Or do I need 2 inch?
1 inch
Depends on BTU load and longest run on the house
No regulator needed?
No
Where's the regulator by the generator
doesn't need thanks
