Chevy Chase was treated like a joke. He wasn't my favourite, but I did feel bad for the way his character was written during his last season. Then why did they cast or hire Chase? They knew who he was the way Harmon treated him was also wrong and he wasn't wrong. Harmons writing became bad Chase was just pointing out what everyone was thinking. I'm just saying, Chase wasn't the only one behaving like an asshole.
Agony? I doubt it. It's a gig. Likely without having to deal with Dan's obsessiveness scripts actually got written on time and people had less stress. However, it came at the cost of the show's soul, which probably was saddening to some degree.

Face it, ALL of the characters got more exaggerated and/or boring in later seasons. The best dynamic was seasons 1 and 2 when Jeff was the 'hefe', Britta was his will they/won't they, Annie was the hottie who didn't know she was hot so she focused on her education, etc. The second they exaggerated Britta's "Britta-ness" and paired Annie with Jeff, the show turned to shit.
If you hate it so much it's pretty weird for you to be commenting on a video around Season 4 ? Also just no. Show was amazing from 1 - 3, went pretty much bad at 4 and the writers did everything they can to save the soul of show in 5&6. Instead she became a really flawed character who I know a lot of people relate to for hoe they wish they practised what they preached. Annie and Jeff was a much more hilarious pairing because of the actual tension there beyond the will they won't they for me

Even in the pilot her flaws were already established, and it only escalated throughout season 1 (like what she did to the corpse, or her refusal to wear sexy halloween costumes not because she truly doesn't care but because she always felt the need to make a statement). Her "progression" in the later seasons equated to turning her into a big joke. "Me so hungee, me so hungee" is one of her more memorable lines in the later seasons and it felt forced (this is not to say I didn't LOVE that episode). There's nothing wrong with a flawed character, it just has to feel organic. Annie got annoying in the later seasons because they exagerrated her sexiness. It was better when she was sexy "but didn't necessarily know it." That bottle episode with the pen is one of the best episodes of the show and it had ZERO "sexy Annie."
Actually she doesn't. All the cast members of Community really did enjoy each other's company outside of their work environment. Yvette actually always asked to do the DVD commentary with Alison. Sorry to burst your bubble

Community fans think the first 3 seasons were the best thing in the world. it was not. it was just a good TV show. and they say that season 4 was the worst because they want to show that they know that Dan wasn't the showrunner. it was as good as the previous seasons. the characters weren't radically different because they were always different depending in wich gimmicky episode they were in. season 5 and 6 lost half the original cast. they were trying so hard to live up to the originals, it was sad. I just watched on Netflix with no nostalgia glasses and it makes sense the low ratings at the time. they tried their best to alienate the audience with episodes where everyone is a lollipop or they're playing some children's game. I'm glad I watched but Community never reached the heights of The Office, Arrested Development, 30 Rock or even Parks and Recreation
