    This was a fun one. Anything retro is Cool. I remember as a young teen drooling over the late 60s early 70s. Wishing when we finally got a license we could have one. Maybe even a Judge. Later in the 80s I got my hands on a very well cared for stock 68 Cutlass S. (Not the 442) but the rocket 350. Trust me it sounds a lot faster than it really was.

      That’s awesome! Yeah, I’ve always liked the GTO story and these modern ones which are where I have much more familiarity with them. 👍

    Paid 10K for a clean 62K mile 04 GTO a year ago and absolutely love it! Its a W40 car as well which is the cherry on top for me.

      As a recent 19yo, I wish I could find a prestige condition one for that cheap😂 10k would get you an 04 with like 150-160k

    When it came out, we knew it was going to be the last of its kind.
    Sedans were on the way out.
    Especially RWD, large and " relatively" affordable ones.
    Nostalgia is probably the only thing that makes this car attractive to anyone.

      I think you’re right about that! I really like these, but for the reason you mentioned, not because they’re the best handling or fastest cars around. Although I filmed this video a few months before making it public today I still remember it being quite fun and bringing me back to my LS1 TA days. 🤪

  • @Cavguy23

    Very good video. I'm currently on my second 04 GTO. Trunk space is smaller because they moved the gas tank from underneath to the trunk for U.S. safety standards. The exhaust is also routed to one side to follow the Monaro routing around the (missing) fuel tank.

    GM should have kept PONTIAC & dumped BUICK, when they were in bankruptcy reorganization back in 2009.
    PONTIAC was always the more exciting division compared to stodgy BUICK 😢😢😢

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  5 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely agree! Especially with how boring Buick has been since then in the U.S. although I know for a long time they did really well over seas and in one year recently I think they even sold 80% of all Buicks to China. But now that China has been doing really well to produce their own vehicles in these last few years I don’t see Buick sticking around much longer lol.

    • @davestadt49
      @davestadt49 5 месяцев назад

      Totally agree. Most Buicks are built in S.Korea & China. Only USA 🇺🇸 made BUICK is the Enclave😮

    My sister's father n law has an 05 GTO (a rebadged Holden Monaro from Australia) with the 400 HP 6.0L LS2 V8 in it with 400 Ibs of Torque and he loves it. The crazy thing is that my 2024 Nissan Titan with the 5.6L Endurance V8 in it has 400 HP as well as the 05-06 GTOs with the 6.0L LS2 V8 have but with 13 more Ibs of Torque.

      That’s awesome, the LS2 GTO is definitely the one to buy! Those Nissan trucks are pretty impressive, especially the first gen with that 5.6 back in the mid 2000’s. Thanks for watching!

    Fun cars and great highway cruisers. At the DA you test at it’s embarrassingly slow but at sea level they are pretty potent (mid 13s for the LS1 with 5ish 0 to 60 times and low 13s for the LS2 with high 4 0-60 times). 🍻

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  5 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely! And I filmed this several months ago when DA was lower than the 6-7k that it is now lol. My FBO LS1 TA did a best 0-60 of 5.5-5.6 and 1/4 about 13.9 @ 102 in around 3k DA. Thanks for watching!

      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  5 месяцев назад +1

      Haha that’s so amazing! I wish I could experience the cool NA cars that I’ve been able to drive at 0 or negative DA. They’re probably a completely different animal than I know them as. 😝

    • @S8ER
      @S8ER 5 месяцев назад

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 100% different. During the summer months DA floats between 2000 and 5000. The car is a complete dog and I hate driving it but once fall hits and we start getting negative DA it feels like a beast. I get why so many people turbo charge even if they don’t go aggressive with it. 3-4 psi on an LS1 would be more than good enough for me I think.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  5 месяцев назад +1

      That’s great insight! Yeah, our cars would always feel dogged down then. I can’t wait to drive something with a V8 at sea level lol. Heck, even the 2024 C8 I reviewed did a low 4 0-60…😅🤦‍♂️

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  5 месяцев назад

      You’re exactly right, on both points. I’ve actually driven three 04-06 GTOs now and unfortunately they’ve all been autos lol. Also, I actually filmed this video over 3 months ago and finally decided to make it public now, I’ve been slow to share it knowing the mic I had used didn’t accommodate the wind well. I now use a professional grade mic, but I should have ordered that one much earlier on. 🤷‍♂️😅 Thanks for watching!

    I have one of the cleanest modified 2004 gto. It has every single upgrade you can think of, basically its maxed out from top to bottom. Puts out 437rwhp. 43,000 miles. Its for sale, 25k firm. Its worth every penny, over 30k in upgrades alone. Serious buyers hit me up. I laugh at peoples gto postings for sale, nobody got one like mine.

      Nobody got one like yours? I have a 04 swapped with a built ls3 twin turbo making 1200hp and the body has 12k on it paint is mint aswell as the beautiful red interior

    • @ss8512
      @ss8512 2 месяца назад +1

      @@AshtonBlake-sd3go mine is the cleanest "stock build". Meaning original motor with every upgrade that a real gto owner knows what is done to the car. Basically it's everything you need and if you want to upgrade the motor with forced induction it's ready, example your motor. The only thing done to the motor is cnc stage3 243 heads fast 102 combo ligenfelter 100maf. Check it out on youtube, the original owner still has the videos of the car a "walk around" when he was selling it. Type in "1slogoat". Built t56 monster clutch, carbon driveshaft, all upgraded suspension the best aftermarket parts which in the video he dosent show the undercarriage. Some people like it stock with all the mods that's what I have. Everything was installed by a master mechanic at gm. What I'm trying to say is what every gto owner wants to do to a stock gto this car has it all and more. Everything but forced induction. I could easily buy a built lsx but I want that decision to be on the next owner. Btw I never said I had the fastest gto.
