- update from a video made 4 years ago with the hybrids vs the JL c5, video filmed with the exact same camera as 4yrs ago. you may notice the loose tweeters in the box, yes i have two pair of these. one installed, one here. bought the store out of this tweeter when they closed during the covs. if you pull up this video and the other in two windows and go back and forth the difference is pretty apparent. also, one note to tame the hybrid 6.5 woofer if you use it passive create a zobel and a simple 6db xover @ 1500hz will put it 3db down at 2250hz which is where the tweeters come on in this case. this woofer is famous for a 2khz peak which can be tamed by simply crossing lower on a mild slope like i mention or if you're really good a specific notch filter may work, would have to test and listen to get it right as all the theoretical stuff goes out the window the second it goes in a car. response curve of this tweeter is excellent as can be seen here dynaudiodata.b...

id kill to spend a day learning from a guy like you, I'm fairly young and have so many questions that I need hands on experience to answer.
i started this hobby around age 12. lived next to a guy who ran a speaker store out of his house and later was one of the guys at phoenix gold. the short story is let your ears lead you. what matters is how it sounds. experiment with drivers, crossover designs and placement. what the speaker is mounted in also matters. there are good forums like diyaudio.com you can learn quite a lot from. be suspicious of people offering speaker kits and "upgrades" they may be better, they may not be but sound is what you're after. not specific measurements on paper. if they measurements improve the sound, cool. sometimes they don't. cheap speakers with well designed crossovers can measure rather good and still sound cheap when you put the power down. part of it is the driver material. part is the thd ramping up with power and another part is those 1w measurements are rather useless at 100w if the driver behaves completely different under power.
Hi. Can i switch in these md102's into my morel hybrid component setup as dynaudio tweeter is 8ohm and morel tweeter is 6ohm? Thanks
Md102 is about 6 ohms @2200hz. Use a 5.6 cap and .40mh coil on the 102 and a .9mh coil and 15uf cap on the 6.5 hybrid woofer. That sums close to flat with a slight 2db drop @2100hz. The hybrid woofer is around 5.5ohms @ 1300hz. It's hard to say how well a factory crossover would work designed for something else. Most the time not very good. You need an impedance sweep to even design a textbook crossover properly and a mic measurement in door to do it perfect. Auto hybrid sweep isn't available but the hybrid 634nd is. Best guess more or less

I lost my JL C5 650 crossovers and I want to make them myself!
The inductors are multitap and I have no idea what is their value!
Can you tell me what are the values at each setting of woofer or atleast when set at low value.
It would also help if you could share the value of tweeter inductor!

unfortunately i can't since i no longer have that set of components. you can buy those crossovers separately or if you had the channels run them active. you could also create a textbook crossover but to do that right you would need an impedance curve on the tweeter at least. if you knew the resistance of that at 3500hz you could fab a crossover for that and experiment with coil values on the woofer until it blends well. you would also have to create an lpad for the tweeter in order to match the output and the value of that can vary depending on where the tweeter is placed. finding another set of crossovers would be easiest but you may be able to improve the passive setup with enough experimenting. i certainly did on my current setup but my god it took a lot of hours of listening and tinkering
