Good comparison to know what you're getting. Honestly for the one time per year I need ice to last longer than 3 days, I'll save my$200 and buy 1 more 20 pound bag of ice to refill the igloo.
you are comparing a 90 qt to a 65qt, and on top of that comparing a $80 igloo to a $350 yeti. also not following the test as igloo performs. it is : A cooler is filled to 90% capacity with ice chilled to a temperature of 10 °F (-12 °C). Computers track the internal temperature continuously. The cooler lid stays closed throughout the test. The cooler sits in an oven with a constant* temperature of 90 °F (32 °C) and a humidity level of 85%. The test is concluded when the internal temperature reaches 40 °F (4 °C). The time time it takes to increase from 10 °F to 40 °F is the ice retention performance claim.
Different sizes of coolers but same amount of ice put in meant that the ice will have to cool more empty space whenever the cooler is opened. Not a fair comparison in my opinion
Thanks exactly what I was looking for. I bought this igloo but really wanted a yeti after owning a yeti tumbler. Haven't used the igloo taking it back and getting a Yeti. I can really use one for all the summer activities
Great Video! I've seen someone on RUclips use a $6.99 can of Injection foam with 2 small holes in the Igloo lid & filled it. A day later he basically did your same test and the Igloo worked better then the Yeti LOL.
The problem with these tests is they are just for marketing purposes. The whole point of getting an ice chest is to put stuff in it. Unless they are going to an Ice Retention Contest, literally nobody is going to be carrying 60lbs of ice in these things unless they don't plan to carry food. If you want an example of practical use someone needs to run a test of an ice cooler filled HALF with ice and HALF with food/drinks. Someone tell me how long ice will keep when loaded with food and in variable conditions like "travelling in the back of an AC controlled SUV" vs "sitting in the back of a blistering hot truck bed". It really all depends on one's use. For me...I have an SUV. My cooler is in it when travelling and it's nice and cool inside. 90% of the time I'm staying in a cabin or Air-BnB, so the cooler is inside in the kitchen or entry, not outside in the heat. So for my money, the Igloo is more than enough and a Yeti is overkill. If you're someone who is on a boat 8 hours in the hot sun, maybe a Yeti. I have the same Igloo and did the foam insulation as well as a sealing gasket ($10-$12). I fill mine with 3/4 ice and 30+ drinks and leave in on the back covered patio during summer swimming season (100+ degrees) and it keeps ice/drinks cold for 5-7 days easy. By day 7 it's mostly water, but freezing cold water with enough ice still cold drinks.
Its too bad you didn't fill the igloo cooler all the way with ice to have a fair comparison. The Yeti still almost certainly would have outperformed the igloo, but that's expected since it costs well over $200.00 more than the Igloo for a smaller cooler.
Should have weighed the water loss each day, no? The extra space in the igloo means it has to cool more space, so not a great comparison unless you did a percentage of ice
Does the Igloo Latitude have a hollow lid? Igloo has a new model called Ultra Marine 90 that is that same cooler! It says it’s commercial grade with an insulated lid so maybe they upgraded?

For the price difference the igaloo got my money buying one today

I mean who needs Ice 4 to 5 days most people use a cooler for a beach trip or 2-3 day camping teip

At 4 times the price…With the USA made Igloo, I’ll buy more ice and a lot more beer.
Thank you 🙏 so much for doing these videos. No one else does videos like these. Now I know which one to buy. 😅

@bluegrass Magee I totally believe that!!
You got a link to that video? $90 vs. $450 I’ll drill 2 holes
İt's just simple physics. The yeti has thicker walls-more insulation, igloo less retentionmore room to put stuff in.
You can get weather stripping that will fit in the groove on the lid of the igloo. I'm sure that would help it out.

Do you have more info on the gasket and foam insulation you did to it?
Ofcourse the Yeti is great but price is totally different between Igloos. For 4-5 day's traveling Igloo i enough good for good price.

He should have done a head-to-head with the igloo IMX or igloo leeward since they are mostly more durable

Make another test. Put a case of beer in each, then fill with ice as much as you can fit in each. Then see which case of beer stays cold for longer.
Would it hold ice if you filled it all the way with ice and didn’t drain it.
I found that leaving the water in, makes the ice melt faster.
yeah your not suppose to drain it much
This is not battle of the ice it is battle of price

It’s quite possible. This lid is hollow.
What's the size of the yeti?
