    Anyone think we'll ever see another 37+ ppg season? I know MJ has a 35 ppg season along with Kobe, but 37 is just ridiculous on 48% shooting. Very next season he scores 35 a game on 54% shooting with 6 assists 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks per. Simply amazing!

  • @andrewscott2951

    MJ never took a 3pt shot to score the 53 points. he scored using is midrange jumper and attacking the basket.

    • @jameslockman7664
      @jameslockman7664 9 лет назад +1

      +Andrew Scott Yeah you can't do that in today's league. He wouldn't be as efficient. You look at the midrange shooting players today and they're average. Joe Johnson and the like. He would need to develop a three point shot

    • @andrewscott2951
      @andrewscott2951 9 лет назад

      James Lockman My baw, I gotta disagree, when a player can create his own shot and move without the ball, why not pull up midrange ? I actually play ball at my community park, I pull up midrange more than any shot i take because that is my strongest part of my game. Defenders started to play me differently once i established an aggressive driving motion to the goal, they would leave me open to bait me in shooting wide open. What I am saying is the midrange jumpshot is a lost art in today's era of basketball. In order for a player to score 54 just of midrange shots, that player has to be in peak physical condition. He also has to be a decent ballhandler to create the necessary space to get the shot off. I think it is possible to score double digits in today's era of basketball using the midrange jumper. If players was able to do it back in the day, why wouldn't players be able to do it today ?

      @jameslockman7664 9 лет назад

      Tyler Southcott
      No it does matter because defenses clog the middle now so defenders can play tighter now

    • @jameslockman7664
      @jameslockman7664 9 лет назад +1

      Andrew Scott
      The thing is, he would still be good, but not 25 ppg good because the fact of the matter is, the mid range shot just isn't as efficient and with improved defense, he wouldn't be as good attacking the basket

    • @jameslockman7664
      @jameslockman7664 9 лет назад

      Tyler Southcott
      That's just not true. Defenses would rather give up a three than a layup. Small ball creates more space on the floor, but that doesn't mean help defense doesn't exist anymore

    OK, at damn near 40 years old, MJ averaged 20 ppg on 45% shooting. To some of the idiots in the comments section that think he wouldn't average at least 29 ppg. are either 12 years old, and don't know the game of basketball, or just plain brand new fans that haven't played basketball a day in their lives, or just never watched the NBA til Lebron and Kobe came into the league.

      +Jordan Hovind In 2006, Kobe scored 52 against the Jazz, he shot 19/26. In 2007, Kobe scored 50 against the Super Sonics, he shot 18/25. In 2002, Kobe scored 56 against Memphis and shot 21/34. The 17/41 that you mentioned is the worst that Kobe has ever shot to score 50 or more, and it's one of only 6 games in which he scored 50 but did not make at least half of his shots. If you're gonna mention his worst shooting games then mention his best ones as well. There is no need to demean Kobe in order to make MJ look better, he is the GOAT and his stats can stand on their own.

    Notice how MJ shot extremely well at high volume (34 fga), just like he did in the 1993 Finals and many other series.. Otoh, it's a statistical fact that Lebron isn't capable of good efficiency at high shot volume, since he's horrible at the additional midrange required of high volume shooting.. 27 shot attempts per game (the amount Lebron averaged in 2015 Playoffs) cannot be achieved on all 3-and-D - good midrange is needed to shoot well at this volume.. Accordingly, Lebron's career 37% midrange efficiency precludes him from ever shooting well at very high volumes - this is a statistical fact.
    In the Finals, there was no danger in letting Lebron shoot 39% at 33 fga, so there was no need to take the ball out of his hands to prevent the high volume.. Lebron's inability to have good efficiency at high volume allowed the Warriors to permit his secluded 1-on-1 clearouts all series long - it was part of their exploitative strategy.. They never double-teamed to take the ball out of his hands - no one has ever gotten such secluded clearouts, probably in history., So there's no excuse for Lebron's 39% shooting (other than him not being capable of good efficiency at high volume).
    Lebron's lack of midrange ability didn't just prevent him from good efficiency at high volumes and subsequent double-teams, but it prevents him from being as good in the 80's, when midrange was the primary option remaining in the absence of the 3-pointers necessary to make screen-roll/drive-and-kick mathematically worthwhile.
    These are just a small fraction of the many facts that make MJ far superior to Lebron.

    Unless LeBron get's at LEAST 3 more rings, which one of them he blew in the 2010 NBA Finals to be better than Kobe. Also, you have to be clutch to be the GOAT. And whether it's Kobe or MJ, LeBron isn't in the GOAT overall conversation because of lack of rings without a doubt and considered by a lot of people, isn't clutch or hasn't at least in the last 14 years shown it yet. Which both Kobe and MJ both are...CLUTCH!

      Najee Fareed Jordan made Pippen what he was through trial-by-fire. Alphas only respect strength and power. Pippen was a weak player mentally and physically his first few years and MJ had to FORCE him into either raising his level or going away. Thankfully, Pippen eventually did shed his pussified ways and became a stud. At that moment, the entire NBA became property of the Chicago Bulls, led by Michael "Air" Jordan.
