Started to learn wakeboarding a few weeks ago at age 64 by watching your videos. Now I feel like reborn and start to do tricks. You are awesome! Thanks bro
Thank you for this video Shaun! This is just what I needed to see!! I have been a lifelong slalom skier and I’ve been getting into wakeboarding for the last two seasons. This short-line, no ballast setup is pretty close to what it’s like riding behind my ski boat and it gives me a lot of inspiration. I know have a long way to go, but I can see now that there is no shortage of fun to be had even behind my boat! Your videos are the best! I help at a ski camp for a couple of weeks every summer and I show the kids your videos all the time because you give great instruction and examples. Thank you so much for all your effort, it’s worth it!
You are so good you piss me off 😆 I'm 63 and love slalom skiing and I have an original Murray Belmonte Hyperlite board with Split bindings. Anyway keep it going strong. Like your videos even if you make me look like a wimp. Good job Sean
Thanks for doing videos like this! It really helps me wrap my mind around trying new stuff out there. I'm 43 and it's getting to the point where when I fall I break instead of bend like when I was a teenager, but I still want to be out there, improving and having a blast.
Yeah, I love love slalom, thus have direct drive Malibu and always wakeboard with no weight. You are an inspiration - usually I go 19.5 on 60’ and following your tips for body alignment and jumping get decent air and distance. The hang time isn’t long tho, so tricks have to be pretty fast as you demo’d. My best rhythm is heelside surface 360 to heelside wake to wake 180 to toe side surface 360 and then toe side wake to wake 180. Still working on heel side wake to wake back roll but only rotate about 7/8 of turn and toe catches… maybe 18 and 50’ will get me a little more wake and time to complete (although you make it look easy :) ). We are blessed to enjoy this sport! Be safe…
Thanks to your incredible videos I have progressed more this year @49 than in the last 12 years combined. All about the “low risk high reward” riding trying to avoid succumbing to the “wakesufing temptation” my friends are luring me into 😉
Thanks for the videos. Lots of teaching moments. I’m a bigger guy at 6’4” 320. I ride a 150. Actually one of your boards. Just learning at a old age of 44. Trying to get my kids hooked on it.
Awesome video! Very encouraging! It’s the end of the summer here in upstate New York, but can’t wait to give this a try next summer! Keep up the great videos and thanks for being such a great role model!
Landed my first Toe side wake to wake this summer because of your videos. Will drop my speed ( was 21.5 / 65 feet and full ballast ) to this setting and try low impact high reward!!
I have watched so many of your video and honestly they have help me and my family. My only problem trying to source one of your JetPilot jackets here in Australia.
Great video! Loved the back to back ts3s. Me and my riding crew have been doing this a ton lately to work on our switch riding. So much fun. Request - Can you do a video on how to add grabs to basic inverts with these smaller wakes?
Ah! Summer has arrived. Boats been serviced, toys dusted off… I can’t wait to get back up on my board. Really enjoy your channel… you’ve thought me such. ( I still have the mental block on jumps…but I’ll get there ✌🏻🇿🇦Cape Town, South Africa
Love this video. Your board control is amazing. I have no idea how you get so much pop. I usually go at 65' and 19mph and get no where near that kind of pop. As always great video and thanks for sharing.
It looks like your wakes there are about like mine behind a 95 Malibu Sunsetter 21.5’ with 1000 pounds of ballast.? Do you have a feel for the comparison? (At the beginning of the summer I had no idea what Shaun Murray was doing these days. While my son was learning to wakeboard (and drive the boat to pull me!) I got out the original Detention, then was turned on to RUclips… I’m hooked. This kind of stuff is invaluable for beginner/intermediate riders and EXTREMELY entertaining and encouraging! I still think the part in Detention, after the “apple joke” where things get groovy with 180’s and grabs is awesome chill stuff!)
Hey Shaun, first off keep it coming my friend. Love to sit and learn from the best. Come out to Washington one of these days and we will take you out. So do you keep your boots loose in the upper section? You seem to lean quite a bit out of your boots....
Shaun, we got a Chaparral 186 ss brand new in 2000 and now, for a collapsible tower, waterskii world recommended lightning towers in Sac. Do you have a rec for us? Btw, thanks for all your work-we got detention on VHS back then (and a H/L Fluid 137 w/ 360 bindings) and I finally upgraded my board and am riding switch much more. Ended up with a rusty 2022 146 w/ teams.
Good question. I think that "technically" it's non stretch bc of the mainline part of the rope construction is non stretch, but my experience is that the line starts with some stretch and then tends to go away for the most part. Waterski lines stay dynamic (stretch) during most of their life. Most wake lines are non stretch, for those who are curious. Thanks for asking Travis ✌
Seeing this makes me want to go out on the water aswell!! I have a rib and not such a luxurious boat as you have. And the towing point is as high as the outboard engine... does that make it more difficult or different??
Cool thanks, been riding your 2021 Murray board 139 and just bought your 144 this year. Been hearing about bigger is better. The 144 is faster and lands butter.
@@Shaun.Murray yea I think we focus on jumping the wake too much, sadly we we winterized the boat this past weekend so I'll have to wait until next spring to try jumping just one wake. Thanks Shaun

50ft rope blind judge. Managing rope tension at this rope length for that trick is mental. Epic riding!!!!
Thanks Adam. I wasn't nervous at all 😉
His last trick? Falling! I've been perfecting that one for years!!!! Great video
🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
You’re such a legend ! I got to ride with you in 2013 in Ohio for a demo day you were so humble and cool to be around !!!!
🤜🏼💥🤛🏼 Good times!
Thanks for this video. I am 46 and I definitely don't like the risk as I did when I was younger. This sounds like a lot of fun.

Sorry just seeing this Jared but great to hear! Hopefully this past season allowed for some of these good times to happen!
I love this video since our boat doesn't have a balast (yamaha ar 195)! Great to see it's possible to still get some awesome air!
Thanks for the feedback! Too many people think you need a big expensive boat to have fun and get air, but def not the case. Enjoy your ride! ✌
This is one of my favorite videos! I appreciate the short line clinic……thank you!
Love the short line, lower mph, and small wake experience!!!
Same
Cant wait for some warm weather down here in OZ! That got me pumped up.
One of the greatest sets ive seen you do! Dang! Very nice
Thanks Nator!

Not a wimp Michael! If you're smiling while riding at some point, you're doing it right.
Thanks for sharing! Your helping me gain confidence to do tricks and not just ride. Love the idea of going short and riding slow.
definitely gonna try that butter slide to swith toe side wake approach. slick. was nervous for you a 4:48
I was kinda too

What brought you up to lake anna ? Great video ! Thanks for the pointers I am going to try this 50 ft line and also the 18 mph range.
Doing some coaching with a few different groups/families. Enjoy your ride! ✌

What do you think about wakeboarding on a jet ski. Is it still possible to land a lot of tricks?
Surface tricks
For sure can have fun and is actually a good thing to do. I just rode doubles w my 7 year old 2 days ago behind ours!

Not loose on top. Not super tight but def not loose. Sometimes those little buggers slide loose though after a lotta riding
Super cool! Great riding. 😉
Btw, you forgot to thank your driver! 🤣
I did in person but guess it didn't make the cut. Cameron was driving, so thanks Cam!

Is the progression series rope still non stretch?
Good question. Is that your G23 Paragon with no ballast? We all wish we could have that sweet of a ride.
Nope. Only a 21' boat.
Seeing this makes me want to go out on the water aswell!! I have a rib and not such a luxurious boat as you have. And the towing point is as high as the outboard engine... does that make it more difficult or different??
Tying a little lower isn't super tough riding but the higher you tie, the more upward the pull and the less you get pulled back down.
@@Shaun.Murray that's clear!! Thanks for your reply 😎😎
