First time using the shorething, caught 28 fish over 6 days. 20 snapper, 7 kahawai and one 92cm kingfish. I would consider that as an awsome result. Other results from fellow kontriki useres were zero on the same beach. The only difference was the shorething and I'm wrapped. Thanks to Paul Barnes I'm happy as.
Wow. That's a lot of machinery. Years ago I used to fish a similar method using a large balloon and a heavy duty paperclip. Only worked when the wind was blowing out to sea of course. Let it drift out, then a hard yank on the line would straighten out the clip and drop the baits into place.
To rewind the spool? You can adapt a power drill to do it but by hand is recommended as the correct tension on the hooks is crucial, you get a better feel doing it by hand.
+gregg ferns It's a lot simpler to just take it out with a kayak, plus get some exercise and fresh air. These things and all the gear are thousands of dollars in total.
Awesome, very impressive. Can you please advise what the cost for the whole unit? Keen of purchasing one, looking forward to hearing from you soon, thanks
Thats what i thought, thats way more fish than one family needs . And dont say i feed the whole neighborhood because thats the same excuse poachers use all over the world.
+wiggle and me cb the daily limit is is 7 per person at 30 cm but when this was taken it was 9 per at 27 cm so make sure when you say that sort of stuff you got the facts right ok mate
Aloha, so sorry to pass judgment, and I respect the idea because it's innovative, but definitely not practical, or effectively sufficient. Furthermore, it takes the fun out of "fishing" ....so I'd kindly ask you don't try to sell this contraption. Haha. I'd recommend you and others that are on this video, watch how we do fishing in Hawai'i, so you guys learn the more practical and less time consuming way....plus its funner. Aloha from Maui.😷🤙
+Chuck Cunningham Zero advantage, in fact a kayak is a lot less hassle faffing about...Heck of a lot cheaper too by kayak. Plus if line gets cut by a shark you can just paddle out and get the whole lot back if put a buoy on the end. These kontikis and all the gear cost the same as a small aluminium 13' runabout boat. It's a total waste of money. I've used a kayak many times paddling out 1-2km and caught hundreds over the years. Heck of a lot more fun too :) I actually used to do it via kayak when I was a commercial fisherman when I was just starting out at age 16 for a bit extra cash/fun when not on the boat doing 2000 hook sets. Used to put on about 200 hooks, not 25 (New Zealand legal amateur limit) - I was allowed as had a commercial licence, but the public on the beach always got pissy seeing x8 the number of hooks over the amateur limit coming in - had a few visits from the ministry of fisheries officers with dickheads complaining and watching us with their binoculars and grabbing for their phone. Maybe if they had come for a chat they wouldn't have wasted the fisheries officers time plus some embarrassment for themselves - idiots lol.... Fun times though!
The voice sounds familiar as does the name - is this the same DB who I worked with at Black and Decker/McCulloch Penrose in 1979? If so, GEEZ you was a skinny lil runty fulla back in the day mate - Hahahahaha!
This looks cool but can get the same effect from just surf casting without all the gear. I expected more of a haul from all the effort. Definitely a ton of thought went into the design and it appears to work.....more gimmicky than effective.
Here's the trouble mate, for most of us: WE don't live in areas of deserted beaches; most of us are chocker blocked with surfers, children, elbow to elbow people on ANY beach we can access. So, though a good system, we would be arrested for deploying it on any beach--I'm talking southern California or any place I could drive to really. Next, it is illegal to fish with more than one line at a time, that's the law most places
in terms of fishing alone we have for sure considered it. And yet, we all know how hard it is relocate what with immediate and extended family, friends and family unable to come along. But you look to have a good local--good for you.
Statement of fact, no effort to complain Bill, by the way, "I can't believe the idiots who use words like "whingeing" as if they can't write with standard English--what an idiot.
I reviewed it, and it appears correct. Can you actually give ONE example of an error, or are you just popping off without merit of fact? If not, then THAT is what I meant by "you are an idiot"

Parabéns prof Pardal Barnes. Nota DEZ... Vou tentar fazer igual... Abraços de pescador. 👍🇧🇷😎
This is another innovative way of fishing. Of course there are rooms for improvement but you must try it and learn from it. I enjoy the video.
That's a nice set up and a Very good catch....
How are you winching in the dropper line? What's the set-up? Are you attached to the anchor weights?
When I can get one
The 'return to base' capability of a drone would be a useful development for a Kontiki.
It’s possible but brings other risks like grounding on sandbars when returning.
I prefer drone fishing for those reasons.
What hooks do you use? Which ones are the best to hold the fish on a hook to prevent spitting?
wires you /
its a great technique for hunting have liked very much to how can l buy it like there are no in morocco . please help me
Is hand winding the only way to bring it in?
To rewind the spool? You can adapt a power drill to do it but by hand is recommended as the correct tension on the hooks is crucial, you get a better feel doing it by hand.
That is a serious amount of work to do ,even if you do get some fish at the end of it
+gregg ferns It's a lot simpler to just take it out with a kayak, plus get some exercise and fresh air. These things and all the gear are thousands of dollars in total.
How can you enjoy taking more than your fill, greedy man.
Dido.
Nice catch man!
Thanks
Rod `n line into the surf and sit on the beach with a beer or two...chill!
Hello good afternoon, have this equipment in Brazil? Was positive, where can I find it
Whats the tangle ratio? Im just thinking I want one but I hate spending time on untangling thanks Paul
One set in ten. Big kahawai are the usual cause of tangles
Olá boa tarde, tem esse equipamento no Brasil?se positivo, onde posso encontrá-lo
Good job man 👍 👍 👍
Are the fish ok?
what's the cost of a bait lunches
great job old man
Some of them looked undersize and ended up in your bin, is this right?
We don't just look at the catch and guess, we measure them if any look small.
Awesome, very impressive. Can you please advise what the cost for the whole unit? Keen of purchasing one, looking forward to hearing from you soon, thanks
Beautiful! !!

Don't uou have daily limits to stick to?
Thats what i thought, thats way more fish than one family needs . And dont say i feed the whole neighborhood because thats the same excuse poachers use all over the world.
wiggle and me cb i agree with you

What is the advantage over just taking the line out in a kayak like done if Florida, USA? Seems like it would be a lot less hassle. Just sayin.
Chuck Cunningham Not everyone has a kayak or wants to paddle the line out.

+Chuck Cunningham over here we have big surf and most of the time you can not paddle out so that why Kontiki are better
safer. You have a beer while you fish.
Are there any vids how this is done with a kayak? I would really love to see it.
very good
喜欢这么大这么平的沙滩,,而且还没什么人,,,钓鱼太爽了,
paul salam kenal
I’m just stick to the kontiki. Looks like a lot more messing around at the end with the shore thing. I can set my kontiki by my self
ser schöne fische.und gute sistem.

Cute but it sure takes all of the fun out of fishing.
sure it catches the fish but it takes the sport out of it...... guess its good if your hungry
thats all fine till a shark takes the catch and runs
Like
AAA I like
This looks boring as hell. Where is the fun of the fight? Where is the test of man’s wits and strength against his prey?
this is not a sport...
Exactly, we don’t condone sport fishing. We are all about getting our customers catching fish to feed their families.
RIDICULOUS...
Cool idea but this isn't recreational fishing anymore. I'll stick to a rod and reel.
Que día de pesca mas aburrido.............no tiene emoción alguna
Impressive, but this is not for me. To industrialised.
