arxcylide and nobody claimed otherwise. But this video IS about ballet so...
@@arxsaur bruh this video is literally about them

OMG 😂😂😂
Some people don't understand how hard it is to be a ballerina
Yes
I have a question, is a male Ballerina a Ballerino?
Antonia Irimescu ikr😟
@@erinhawkins6291 I don't think it is ballerino but I do think they should or do have another name.
@@erinhawkins6291 no :)) They are called ballet dancers. The term "ballerina" is used only for female dancers.
I think ballet feet are one of the most beautiful things ever. When people think of ballet, what usually comes to mind are their beautiful pointed feet. In reality, their feet look bony and rough outside their ballet shoes. For me, they look beautiful both in and out of their shoes. Their calluses represent their passion and hardwork for something they love. And I believe that is what true beauty is.
I absolutely love their feet so beautiful
coleen valiente 👏🏿👏🏿 beautifully said
Same
coleen valiente i
Totally agree! Ballet feet are ballet feet, inside and outside the shoes. You cannot gain beautiful arches and lines without your feet getting bony, it's a process.
I really have a problem with ballerinas feet. Everty time I see them jumping and pointing I just feel pain for their articulations. I always have the feeling they are going to break something.
Isa Patchouly haha yeah... good thing our feet are strong enough that that usually doesn't happen!
Isa Patchouly it feels like it sometimes
Isa Patchouly that’s why we train.
Isa Patchouly it’s actually really not scary if they know what there doing
It actually is not that bad...
Ballet dancers are the ultimate athletes. They do the extraordinary and make it look effortless. Thank you all for your dedication and sharing your skills with us.
Thank you! I rarely hear that so it was nice to see that someone thought that
True, but gymnasts do that too.
@Ks My comment is a reply to the original post, if you can't understand this simple exchange, then I can't do anything to help you.
@Ks-101they are saying ballet dancers are not the ultimate athlete because gymnasts do it as well...
Person: Do you do a sport?
Me: Yes.
Person: Okay what sport?
Me: Ballet!
Person: ..... **weird face**
I'm not here to stir trouble, and I definitely have a respect for the athletisism that it takes to be a ballet dancer (I'm pretty sure I couldn't in a million years) but wouldn't it be considered more of an art form than a sport? Cause if you look at almost any other sport, they have competition with cut and dry rules but with Ballet it's all interpretation and perspective
@@karleyswallowvocals One there are ballet competition as well as there are plenty of cut and dry rules to ballet which is what makes it so taxing. Two ballet is a spart, it's a mix of a sport and an art form making it kinda both.
@@karleyswallowvocals ballet is continuously competitive. You need to be the best, you need to strive to be the best. This doesn't mean you have to hate the other dancers or nescesarrily be jealous of them, but if you don't strive to be the best... You don't get anywhere.
You might not get graded on your performances (unless it's an exam in dance class... God I have some traumas of those 😂) but you simply don't get certain parts if you're not good enough. Which is also some sort of competition. I always thought this was the competition of ballet, and idk if it's considered a sport because of that, but there definitely is competition
Ballet is not a sport. Yes, it CAN be competitive, yes it takes athleticism, but it is an exceptionally physical performance art, not a sport. Ballet is no more of a sport for the same reason Tap Dancing isn't a sport.
@@kapokikkodragneel1505 The desire to strive to be the best applies to any skill someone is trying to master. By that logic, playing piano is a sport because there are piano competitions and all competitors are trying to be the best. Competitiveness is not the end all definition of a sport.
“Yeah, it takes time”.
The greatest lesson I’ve learned as an adult ballet beginner starting pointe shoes at 27 (now I’m 31). Learning how to dance on pointe shoes, yeah, it takes so much time. I don’t have “ballerina feet” : they’re quite flat, with a very strong ankle, which is great for jumps for example but really really difficult for being on pointe because I don’t have any flexibility. My leg muscles are the same, it is very hard for me to have long leg with lines, it takes me like 3 years to bend my knee correctly, and the work is not finished 😅 So I work and work and work and am very jealous about people who have “ballerina feet”, being on pointe without doing anything but just standing on 😅 But even if it takes time I love that, I see my own progression in every class and am very proud of that.
So if you want to do pointe shoes even with feet which are not made for this like mine, do if you want ! Even with all this work, the feeling is... wonderful. ☺️
It’s only took you four years? I’m 11 and started at age 7( took a break for 1 year due to leg injury) and only at grade 4
Rylene Sia she is older meaning her ankles are fully developed so she can go on pointe. If you’re not fully developed, injury is more likely upon other things. I went on pointe after 7 years of dance at the age 12-13. It depends how strong your ankles are and how your studio prepares you.
Your feet are actually perfect for en pointe. The funny thing is for like 200 years ballerinas were expected to be short and stocky and have very flat feet. When Anna Pavlova, the most famous ballerina in the world started everyone made fun of her because she was tall, willowy and had very arched feet. She was so embarrassed of her feet she asked people to leave it out of photos. Now, thanks to her it’s the beauty standard XD
@Brokeandlonelypotato My arches are slightly flat and my instep is near nonexistent, and it did make it harder to fully get on the platform, and it took ages to break in my first pair properly. On the positive side, they lasted me very long (so long in fact that I didn't ever get a second pair before quitting after graduating high school), and once I got strong enough to fully get on the platform I was very stable. My teacher once talked about what types of pointe shoes work well for different foot shapes, and apparently lower arches typically need a slightly lower and softer shank, while high arches need the support of a firmer shank - but I highly recommend getting professionally fitted, especially for your first pair.
You’re so lucky to have strong ankles ! Mine are really flexible, but not strong enough, and sometimes, when I do pointes, I fell bc of that...
this is so beautiful ,but where's the anatomy?
I'm still waiting for that as well. Two years later and still nothing 😂
The whole video was about their feet
When i was little i wanted to become a Ballerina but then i started growing to end up 181 cm and a size 10 in shoes needless to say it never happend
What? I have big feet too and I’m a ballerina
I'm 180 and i dance
SAME but I'm 175vm
What's that for a bad excuse
Beate Kelly trash excuse
Thank you for all you Dancers who have kindly and graciously answered the questions that us non-dancers have asked. Your work is appreciated.
Not only is ballet beautiful, it’s for the strong and determined.
ALWAYS lower your heel after a saute. And yes, the feet are crucial for dance!!!
Jay Tee YEEEEESSSSSSS I could practically see the space between his muscles and his bones shortening
It depends if they are very quick jumps you won’t have time to lower your entire foot
Oh really 😂😂😂😂
i was thinking the same thing omgg
Wow! Examples of jumping without going fully through the foot (putting the heel down) in a video about the importance of a dancer's feet!
Norma Mimosa i'm pretty sure he was not jumping, just rising the foot from the floor to show how it can move?
Myrtale Ellery still an incorrect movement, that can lead to serious injuries
ikr i was thinking the same thing omgggggggggggggggggg
It takes a lot of hard work, discipline, extended time & effort, focus, tolerance, passion, artistic desires, poise & grace so beautiful to watch every minute of it. It feels so divine & heavenly, it's magical! They are so pure & mesmerizing to watch, thank you so much for the joy ballerinas!
This is a person with a foot fetishes dream
Abou Yobi Eww.
Abou Yobi trust me, its not. 90% of ballerinas have 2 nails left, bloody toes and swollen ankles lol. Not a pretty sight, trust me my feet are in ice so often
Not necessarily. Most ballet dancers don't have very good looking feet because of working so hard.
nope.
More like a nightmare.
Hats off to all the ballet dancers out there. The most I’ve done is just choreographed dances in musicals I’ve been in. I can’t imagine.
The strength and control of ballet dancers mind/body connection is absolutely remarkable and has my total respect and admiration
Love the Australian Ballet!!!!
I thought those were a man’ feet but her passion and dedication shows through her feet
I also thought those were men's feet. 😯
Ballerina's feet have to be strong. They're rarely "feminine".
I love ballet! I think one of the most important things in it is the way the feet move, it just pulls the hole performance together right? (I do ballet)
I loved it. Very beautifully said and demonstrated. Thank u guys. I love dance. I love ballet and I love music. Watching or listening to either without the other is like eating hot soup with no spoon.
i really don’t know why i am here if i know ballerinas’ feet give me ANXIETY i’m really crying right now omfg i hate myself
what u lookin at they are indeed painful haha. But just as beauty is pain, art is pain too.
I found out that I have an interest in the shoes and feet of ballerinas. I personally would like to say I appreciate your beautiful art form.
I NEVER realized you needed só much strength to get on your toes like that!
Salute to all the Ballerinas out there! We are so proud that there are humans like you!
This is one of the most hardest dance yet it looks so delicate and gracefull
Lovely video. I don't think I will ever really appreciate ballet as an art as you take a person, keep them very fit and very thin, and put them onto their toes and over time it wrecks the appendages. It's absolutely amazing how anybody can do this fo ryears in a career. The fitness level must be incredible and the mental disicpline to keep it up through pain and the art of dance must be brobdignagian.
I have been doing ballet for the past 12 years in my life and let me tell you the pain is unbearable and it is the worst when the toenails fall off
1:50 I'm not doing ballet or any sort of dance, but I can totally understand this since I realized I have severe flat feet and had to do something to fix it to avoid injuring my knees. Btw, this is so beautiful!
I'm not a dancer, I just have flat feet. Doing exercises like these really help :)
Are they fixable?
My 14 yr old me who has cramps pretty much after every week of intensiv classes is laughing over here
I jist commented under the wrong vid.😂😂😂😂
Time to go to bed....
I can feel my feet getting ready to have muscle pulls just by watching these exercises.
0:29 what my bed sees at 3am
Very interesting. I learned a lot today. Thank you for sharing.
Their feet are so flexibile, strong and soft in the same time. Like look at that foot at 2:06, look at toes and all the muscles at they land. There's a kind of beauty in them that i can't find words for. Huge respect!
How do people with longer 2nd toes get on pointe?
I love ballet,it's my Life, it's something i can not take away, It's a very strong Sport but It's worth It💕💕
Me: “oh man! Ballet looks incredible! I hope I can accomplish this soon!”
Me after one ballet tutorial: “hahahahhaaaa.... At least I have my dreams to get there...”
Such precision.
Beautiful.
im sorry but THE TINY STRETCH BAND FOR HIS TOES IS FREAKING ADORABLE ITS LIKE A TINY WORKOUT
What an interesting and beautiful video, thank you!
Yep, many of the branches of the martial arts when trained properly take the same kind of focus.
My feet is hurting watching this
Ballet is so AMAZING, what I do is just get on my shoes and get on my toes EVERYY SINGLE DAY I DO IT
I'm in pain just watching, OMG!
This is so beautifully asthetic I love it
I've noticed that a lot of ballerinas actually have the Greek foot type where the second toe is longer than the first. Does this make it harder to be a ballerina? What is the ideal foot type for being a ballerina?
it almost looks like the big toe is squashed from standing on it so much
I am a ballerina, but i didn't get my pointe shoes yet, however, i have a greek foot too and i tried wearing pointe shoed twice, in both times i felt a little pain in my second toe, but my big toe hurt me the most, but i wasn't wearing toe pads so no wonder it hurt me so bad, however, it may make it a little bit difficult
Suzanna Kiraly I have been on en pointe for 4 years now, my second toe is longer than my big toe. I was also born flat footed, or I had a low arch. My feet itself makes it harder, and the ideal type is a longer big toe and higher arches. However, I am improving my arches and I have a decent arch! Having an arched food is definetely more easier, especially if you have the right shoes. (It’s also most desired to have a high arches foot for dance companies anyway) Also idk how it would feel to have my big toe longer since I still have that second toe longer lol
I was a dancer with Greek foot type and when I did pointe work the nail on my second toe took a beating! I’ve since learned that there are ways of padding your feet that can help and a different brand or style of pointe shoe could have helped. Check out ThePointeShop channel.
@@julietruffing1359 YEES, the pointe shop is AMAZING
I may have the ugliest feet, but I do the most beautiful and graceful postures ... thank you ballet 🩰
Can’t imagine the pain they experiencing from muscle cramps. Respect!!!!!
I can't imagine how painful their possible injuries are... Damn
0:37, Rose Titanic.
Lord!!!! Ballet is A-M-A-N-Z-I-N-G . I would like make it.
I love that they interviewed a male dancer
I started doing it 2 days ago i learned it today and now i can do it standing with a rod really helps in training the toes
That's very aesthetic! 🤤
Excellent video. Thanks!
Nice ballet moves it looks really good
Ballet is painful but worth it once you realised you done a beautiful thing....
For pointe work, I was blessed with Flintstone feet, rather square. My first three toes are exactly the same length and the fourth, not that much shorter. I’m so grateful I didn’t get my mother’s feet, lol!
Seems your foot type is what used to be preferred for ballerinas. I read this about Anna Pavlovna......."She had a challenging early experience since her body did not fit the era’s ideal for classical ballet. She had thin ankles, arched feet, and long limbs, unlike the small compact body preferred in those days".
Lizzie Beth I have high arches as well and I was incredibly flexible. X-rays reflect erosion in my hip joints. My chiropractor couldn’t quite understand until I told her I studied and taught ballet for two decades of my life. Is there a different type of foot preferred for ballerinas now?
@@cbpapp My apologies. I misunderstood your comment and thought your reference to Flintstone feet meant flat feet. 😂. I now see you were describing the shape of your feet.
I see so many comments from people worried about their flat feet or being told their feet are too flat for ballet. However, flat feet were once the preference for ballet. I've been researching this to get a better understanding of why there even is a foot preference but there's not a lot of information out there.
From what I gather, within the last century, high arches are preferred for ballet and this seems to be causing worries from people with flat feet. I was trying to be uplifting by referencing the past preference 😂.
I believe high insteps are also the preference nowadays as well. I never knew foot type was that big of a deal in ballet and gymnastics. When I see a ballerina or gymnast, my eyes are drawn to the body, lines and movements.
The odd thing is, the times my eyes are drawn to the feet, are when I see a male ballet dancer en point because it's so rare. Or when the dancer has high insteps because (and please don't be offended if this is your foot shape), high insteps look a bit odd to me.
For me it's all about the dancer's or gymnast's control of movements and their body type. I enjoy seeing a variety of body types. I don't have a favorite, just love seeing the diversity of human body types and how each person commands their own body.
Hi! Flat feet were once the preference? Wow, that is wild! I did not know that? The hands and feet are as important as the body. The hands and feet are included in the “line” you referred to. Let’s use arms as an example. There is a gentle curve from the top of the shoulder to the ends of the fingers, unless the fingers are extended for a specific pose, like in a tendu or arabesque to the back, for example. Feet are to be stretched aka pointed. In my very humble opinion, as an ex ballerina, I find a high arch aesthetically pleasing, as I believe was stated in the video. Aesthetics in ballet is equally as important as technique. So, you compared a flat foot and an arched foot pointed and you prefer the flat foot? I’m not offended at all. My feet were abused for years, but served me well doing what I sincerely loved.
I’m sooo glad I’m not that kind of artist...
My feet are very thankful for it...
WONDERFULLY HELPFUL!!!!!
Subscribed so fast after seeing this series...
I always put my foot on the toe incorrectly! Now I understand,🙂 thanks to you.❤️❤️❤️
When I see this I wanna dance
Wow..
dancers are so beautiful i really admire them
Watching this makes me sweaty 😂😂
Today I went to take a basic ballet class I didn’t have the leotard or the leggings for practice so I just wore lululemon pants and a shirt. I got there and they all were wearing there Leo’s and tights and I felt so intimidated (Idek why) so I just left. I think it’s bc they were all so much older then me. But I’m going to another class tomorrow but one with people of my age 😂.
Don't get discouraged love. Keep at and focus on having fun . If you leave insecurities and worry at the door and just lose yourself in the art I know that you'll be great. 😊
i got hella respect for ballerinas
i learned ballet, my foot's mentel nerve just tore yesterday. i had to perform a surgery. my ballet teacher told me im wrong, then i came up on youtube and find this! ballet is hard!!!
Ballet has always fascinated me and its my whole entire life's biggest regret that I couldn't be a Ballerina! I'm 18 and its way too late for that but it still is the most fascinating and graceful form of art and i adore it w all my heart!💜
Sana You might not be able to have a professional career as a dancer, but many studios offer adult ballet classes. If you want to take ballet, I would recommend looking into classes!
Jane M Aww that Is very Kind of you! Thank you! I will look forward to that! ❤
Not sure why all the fuss about arched feet being better......."She had a challenging early experience since her body did not fit the era’s ideal for classical ballet. She had thin ankles, arched feet, and long limbs, unlike the small compact body preferred in those days"......this was said about ballerina Anna Pavlovna.
LOVEEEE
I was a ballariena for 3 years and now before 2 years I learned the gymnastic it really hard to be learning different things .
this is beautiful
i looooove these vidssss
Ballet looks like a torcher for feet.
Ai love ballet💖💖
Woah, this cured my ballet slump
World's most finest art
Did someone just jump without putting their heels down
Wow. Shout out to all ballet dancers.
I wanted to be a ballerina so much when I was younger. I had ballet lessons on my school, it was too basic just for kids. I was poor, besides I'm black, the opposite of the other kids there. Then the dance instructor humiliated me so much cause I couldn't learn to do splits just like the other kids so she put me do do an exercise on the wall for like more than 15min. So I went out there. But on this réveillon night I listened a song and suddenly started to make ballet moves. I felt myself with the beautiful clothes and in a stage. So I'm so encouraged to start doing lessons again. I'm 21 now and I'm 1,74 meters. Is it a problem?
Day Covers No! You can still take up dance if you work hard!
With all sincerity does the Morton toe hurt your foot and does it negatively affect your ability to pointe? Thank you.
I was in ballet for nine years then an additional five years in Pointe. All of my strength is lower body. Pointe gave me cracked toenails.
I have danced on pointe many times because of school recitals, and I cannot tell you how jacked up my feet were.
So whenever I try to point my feet to much they dislocate....is this bad? Should I be worried?
Samantha Gonzalez You are just not used to it as ballerinas are trained to point their feet . I am not a ballerina but as a Chinese Dancer which is similar to ballet. We are trained too. Since I started Chinese dance really late like 13 I had to force myself to point my feet. It may cramp as we are not always doing it. But soon after a Long time of practice you will be used and comfortable with it! :)
look at those muscles!
I have a natural high arch in my feet and it can be painful sometimes. They purposely want that. Ouch.
Beautiful
Those perfect baby smooth heels!
I’m in ballet and point one day I jumped up and landed on my point in my shoes and broke 2 toes
:((((((
Sophi HD omg not fun
Oh no! That sucks!
I remember when I was younger that I couldn’t do a split or a straddle of any kind and I was the only one in my class that would be like a tower compared to everyone else when stretching. Now I can barely make my legs at a 90 degree angle. 🥲
how does a ballerina stand en pointe if the second toe is longer than the first?
Got cramps from watching this
Hello!
Have you got any video for practicing of isoleting one muscle from another one?
Балет - по сути эстетическое калечение людей. Равно, как и гимнастика

Ooooh I got tendonitis just from watching the heel not coming all the way back down
this is so aesthetically pleasing
The beauty of pain.
