The only thing OP did wrong wasn't announcing in family chat and social media that her family USED her to fund their mother's vacation birthday, exclude her from the festivities and try to stick her on babysitting duties at home. Let them live THAT down. Good for you, OP!
She was so used at being a scapegoat, undeserving of her family's or anyone's love, that she just continued to be one, by not explaining the situation to other family members... Then again, her cousins should know better that what they expected of her was not right.

OP should have set the record straight. The non-involved family needs to know the truth and she probably has a lot of proof to support her claims. Her mother, father, sister and cousins who did this are monsters and they are NOT going to learn anything with no one but OP challenging their "truth". Also, OP should demand the money back plus interest. It would not even be petty on her part, just justice.
I am glad OP doesn't let herself get manipulated any longer or hurt by those monsters that have the audacity to throw around phrases like "family helps each other" while excluding their own family member from everything and using her like an atm. They are disgusting.

The fact that I feel like this will be me too soon. It's always been me babysitting my younger siblings during summer break, and me helping my mom with a work project because I'm artist. I happily agreed first, I never asked for siblings but I wanted to be a good big sister. And then they stopped caring about the fact that I was tired, and still a kid myself. I had homework she should have known needed tl be done and should have told me to work on it because I was a child with no real way of regulating my energy, but maybe I should have learned. Maybe if I was like my older brother when my siblings got here, annoyed and detached, they would have tried to find a babysitter harder. The problem is the fact that they know I'm a people pleaser, my mother has told me to set boundaries when I need space, but when I do they're overlooked. I cry regularly and tell myself I'm being selfish, I really don't think that, I don't think I do at least. But I've lied to myself so much that everything is my fault. I told one of my friends about the fact that if feels like I have several people in my head, one saying "screw it, just say no", the other saying "we all have a part in the family and this is yours. Your mom is just treating you how he mom treated her but a little better, it's not your fault", one is too tired and just thinks life isn't worth living if I live like this, and the other lies to everyone including myself and says it'll be fine. I should stop letting them walk all over me, but I still think it's my fault. Even while typing this I feel selfish, like I've painted my family in a bad light. They mean well sometimes, and every time I hate them we do real family things and I think that I can survive on the rare genuine affection they give me. But then I remeyhow we moved somewhere that I didn't want to go, but since "your older brother seemed ok, I thought you'd adapt". I didn't, I haven't, and the result is I want to go home, and it isn't where I am

Wow...her family is horrible. She doesn't need a family like that. They are awful people. I have had similar issues in the past. You can never do enough for them and they cannot do anything for you. She is better off this way...unless they grow up and become much better people. The ball is in their court.

Sounds like they were taking advantage of you. It’s unfair to expect you to babysit while excluding you from the trip. Setting boundaries is important, and you deserve better treatment from your family.
