  • Today was just about having fun. Still in our Summer mode, catching fish on terrestrials and mayfly spinners. But then we end the day having some big fish fun on Spruce Creek, not the most technical fishing, but a BLAST fighting some giant trout.

    Scott, This was fun to watch, especially at the end! That last honey hole is what Fly fisherman dream about! Your Buddy did you right! Can't believe that large Rainbow went up the waterfall like that! You need to do an update video in that section again. I was on the edge of my seat! Well done buddy!

      Hi Dave! Actually, I did do another video there, in the Winter. The video is called Flyfishing for Giants using Nuttin Butt Lively Legz, check it out, it’s a good one! 👍🏻. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      Yeah, that part of Spruce is stocked with monsters by fishing resorts and guide services, that’s why 95% of Spruce is private, but still very beautiful water. I only fish there like once every other year just for fun. Thanks Brian for watching and commenting.

    Those barree bridge fish are well educated as far as dry flies go, especially that late in the season. You know you're good when you can trick 'em on top

      Robert Payne Hey Robert! Thank you brother. Summer is so tough and only the little dinks were feeding, but sometimes you gotta take what you can get. Now, I’m reserving a lot of Summertime fishing for the Delaware. Try to do a trip up there for a couple days, if you hook into anything over 14”, it’ll scream 10-20 yards off your reel and you’ll definitely go back for more, the strongest fish on the East Coast bar none. Although I would like to try and figure the J out in the Summer also. Dilemmas, dilemmas, lol.

      @@pawoodsnwater7551 Upper Delaware is definitely one of the top places I want to fish. I usually move down to the big Juniata during the height of the summer and throw streamers and poppers for smallies. Seems like no matter what you do you are relegated to small trout that time of year on the Little J and big smallmouth just appeal to me more, especially on poppers.

    Awesome video as usual! I was waiting for another Delaware video, my stomping grounds. Found Superman a few weeks back.
    That bad, should have been good Sulpher action in the afternoons on the upper where you fished last year?

      flyfishny Hey! Thank you! I'd love to do another Upper Delaware video but gotta find time to go up there for at least 2-3 days. Always takes me a good day to get a feel for the bug n fish activity, and I'm getting ready to go out to Montana soon, so maybe get up there late August or early September. Appreciate your comment. Tight Lines!

    Hi there. At the 29:50 mark, I assume this is Spruce Creek. If so, what section is this? Does not look like the George Harvey section at 29:50 Thanks!!!!

      SirJohnny9999 Hi Sir Johnny! This property is owned by my buddy, yes a private section, I can fish it after 5pm, he does lease it to a guiding service. Not too challenging but super fun!

    • @SirJohnny9999
      @SirJohnny9999 5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the reply. I did not recognize the water, and thought maybe you had found a piece of open water on Spruce Creek.
      I had the privilege of fishing the Spruce Creek Rod & Gun property a few years ago (won a Trout Unlimited raffle). The huge fish were definitely fun. However, I have to admit, I really like hitting the wild browns down in the Little Juniata. Also, a lot of local spring creeks in the Blair County area with wild browns.
      Enjoy watching your videos. Please post more.
      Tight Lines.

    Fished the river before most people new there were trout in it over fishing ruined the river thanks to the fish commission the big ones are pretty much wiped out there are some but it will never be what it used to be

      Jeff Cox I hear ya but still today a very good trout stream. When a good hatch is coming off, the amount of fish feeding is still quite impressive. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    have you ever fished the Penn State section of Spruce creek?

    • @pawoodsnwater7551
      @pawoodsnwater7551  7 лет назад

      VINCENT TANINIES Yep, that's what's featured in this video, it's the Penn State George Harvey section, about 1/2 mile in length, nice water, a little shallow, a decent section to fish during the weekdays when you might have it all to yourself.

    • @vincenttaninies5072
      @vincenttaninies5072 7 лет назад

      PA WOODS N WATER Humm, yah warm water, it's why I fished all year long where I fished. Van Campen's brook in Jersey. Took me years to figure out what was happening in there, but then it flowed into the big "D". Spawning was part of it. Hope you had a great time there. This was an awesome video, thanks.
