I thought the recording was too fast.... catching hell playing along with it on guitar ....but I triple checked it with my cd players and the song is four minutes and eleven seconds.....man, these guys are hauling ass!!!
A layman's description of Iron Maiden's rhythm section: Steve has fallen off a cliff, and is dangling by a rope. Nicko is unconcerned, and simply cranks the winch that reels Steve back to safety and also back to the beat
Who fucking cares? At least he’s not some pretentious fucking virtuoso who has to play everything note-for-note perfectly, it feels like an actual person playing an actual instrument making actual music.

Fingerstyle can sound sloppy for sure. What always matters is in the mix, and after post production, like track and master compression. I mostly use a pick, but switch based on songs at times. Fingerstyle def sounds "sloppier" just because of things like fingerpads and different length nails...etc
Love how Iron Maiden are so loud that Steve's mic picks up the rest of the band lol
True
Steve Harris to me is the best cause I can actually fucking hear what he's playing.
Helps with that super-low action that makes strings slap just by plucking hard

the freaking cover on the vid looks sick
it sort of sound like horse hoof beats
That was the rhythm Steve Harris wanted to go for
hes using a galoping technique...basically hitting the strings 3 times with the third hit being stronger...that gives it that horse running like sound
I’ve been looking for this for ages
Usually the worse it sounds on its own, the better it suits the mix :)

Excelente!!!!
Is he playing with pick?? This sounds either like a pick or that Steve Harris has Therizinosaurus' claws. Either way I LOVE this sound!!!!
Never a pick. Never
LOL pick
There is fret clank because of low action, and also on studio records he says he uses his nails, but he can't live because they break.
Yessss
🐎💨
In case you ever feel stupid just remember some people in this comment section called this sloppy
I call BS
the bass master track has been on youtube for over 14 years ..
sloopy. Not accurate
He's very accurate, that's how it was meant to sound, the gallop sound and the clanking of the strings hitting the frets.
but nobody asked

Sloppy or not. Steve will always be an amazing composer and bass player
Sloppy.

So you're saying Steve motherfucking Harris is sloppy?
@CARTER JOHNSON You have no ears then.
