An aprila rs 125 or a cagiva mito 125 are much faster than these 300 they can even keep up with 600cc and they also cost nothing you can get a cagiva for like 800€
I think the Honda CBR 300r is the perfect starter bike/cruiser. I've passed a dude on a Ducati around turns before. People will try to convince you start with a larger bike, but you'll cheat yourself of gaining true skills. Small bikes build your confidence to a bigger bike in my opinion.
The thing is that 300cc-400cc bikes are really popular in Europe because we have those stupid A1,A2 and A license categories. Unless you are 24 years old you can only ride bikes that have under 48hp. Or you can get a bigger bike at 20 years old if you rode a small cc bike for at least 2 years.
The late great racer Gary Nixon's daily bike was a Ninja 250. If such a bike was enough for one of the greatest motorcycle racers of all time, then it's good enough for everyone
Started on a used $3k Ninja 300, upgraded to a used $4k FZ07. I NEEDED those years on that 300, so I can enjoy my 700 more safely now. There are still areas to improve, but at least now I have the torque to get up and out of dangers way when the time comes.
@@srdjanmatic7099 Hello, I'm Italian and I think that starts with 600/1000cc bike it's too dangerous. For drive over 48hp you must have more than 24 years old or 22 if you have the bike license
@@v1ncy982 Hi brother, i am from Balkan, we have exact same law here, 24 years old for full A or 2 years of A2 licence (A2 you can get from 18 here). I think 600 is way too much too, 400 is top limit for someone who never rode a bike (and 35kw ofc max)
If you’re a bigger bloke, say 5’11+, start on a 500cc. You’ll be able to control it no problem and aesthetically, your bike:person ratio is proportionate.
I had a CBR300R as my first bike (USA). Loved it. Acceleration and exhaust note sucked but otherwise it was great. Then I got an R6; heavy (hard to get used to leaning over), aggressive body position (hard to ride more than 1 hr), goes through tires 2x as fast, etc. It was stolen a few days ago but I don't really miss it. I'm getting another 300. 60 MPG, cheap maintenance, super easy to maintain and fix, awesome for track.
600cc super sport are the worst street bikes you can buy. Even I who enjoy and prefer the aggressive ergonomics I wouldn't ride r6 even if I get it for free. Thats the point of fast bike if it feels slow under 10k which you won't pass on the straight unless it's highway.
Bought the wrong bike, not enough experience, or realistically couldn’t afford it. I bet if you had an SV650 instead you would’ve had a much different opinion.
@@kannermw True. I could afford it but it was just slightly more than I wanted to pay for maintenance sometimes. The cost of repairs also made me more timid because I didn't want to drop it and fix it. Once I get a 300 again I'll take it to the track often and master it. Then I may try a 600cc gain later when I feel ready.
@@D3athduo If you go back to a 300 cc bike you might think WTH. Once you've tasted the adrenaline of power and acceleration it is hard to go back unless you're an old fart who just wants to keep riding and needs something a bit more tame and lighter weight for declining skills.
I'm probably late but you could also try something like CBR650R - it has like 90HP, looks sporty, sounds great and is pretty comfortable. The position is like between a CBR600RR and CBR300R, more sporty but still pretty straight.
From a CB300R owner's perspective, I agree to a certain extent. Hopefully I'll be able to get a CB650R for long journeys but around the city, around town, in&out of your moms house; the 300 has proven to be the one fit for the job. Greetings from Mexico
another CB300R here, power is ok if you dont ride like a squid, i do several 300+ km rides, not the most confortable experience possible but for the motorcycle itself is perfectly fine. i suggest +1 front sprocket because stock one is too short and stock speedometer is 10% optimistic, so with a +1 is only 2% off and cruising 80+ kmh is more relaxing
Spite, dont forget some people dont have height on their side! Im an adult that stands 5'6" in shoesies and at about 135 lbs in weight I need less power to push me down the road. I for one am glad there are a tonne of options for us shortys. Little bikes are not only great for newbs but many short people will only ever need smaller displacement bikes that fit them just right!
Your roads and traffic is good for a bike like 390. I have friends wo faced several issue with the 390 like the alloy bend. Coolant and engine oil mixing issue.
I have a 2020 yamaha R3. Im new to motorcycling. Had it for 1 month now. On the weekends I can spend 6 hours riding it on highways. Covering about 350kms with a few 5 minute breaks on the way. I actually feel no complaints. Passing speed is there. Control is good. Easy to handle. At this stage I have nothing to complain about so I dont know what you are on about Yammie 😆
Yammie's got a lot stupid videos. This one easily breaks top 5. I'm ooking at the streets in europe. Many people riding smaller engines with two wheels. Cause is enough. Love for motorcycles is about more than just power.
I watched this forever ago but now that I own a 300 and have rode it for a while. I have some reasons I love my cbr. It was cheap, I can ride it for at least 2 hours(that’s the longest trip I’ve taken) with problems with comfort, i can crank it to 90% of what it’s capable of and not kill myself, I have made a few mistakes that would’ve killed me on a bigger bike, and I can put it down or beat it up and not worry about destroying a expensive bike that I value a lot. Still want a 600 but I’m not going to be impatient
Going to be honest I’m going to ignore this whole video because it’s mainly about boring looks, being slow (it’s a beginner bike) experienced riders don’t want them 🤦🏽♂️ and the big 4 don’t cram them with tech, bells and whistles.. I wanna learn to ride properly and not die, I couldn’t give a shit if the power band doesn’t attempt to throw me off the back in the first year or 2
Wow I respect that! I started on ninja300 and after 1 years I was so hungry for something more powerful and went for s1000rr, usually I switch bikes every 1/2 years currently I own 2017 tuono 1100rr. It's so nice for you to be happy with one motorcycle for such a long time I wish I could do the same.
250 dual sports are fun off-road but not so much on the street unless you are just cruising around in town. Shifting is not fun when compared to brisk acceleration, deceleration, and cornering possible from a more powerful bike.
@@kannermw No. I started with a 125 and now got a duke 390. And I agree that a smaller bike can be more fun. The 125 is way too little, and you struggle keeping high speed. But otherwise, it is so light, the engine revs super high all the time like nothing, plus the clutch and the gear shift is so smooth and soft, you can spend the whole day changing gears. With the 300s the clutch and the gear shift gets stiffer and more tiering. And about cornering, you are completely wrong. A lighter bike corners way better and harder than a heavy one. So in the right roads a small bike can be way more fun than a powerful one. I would not go back to the 125 for a trip, but for certain roads, the 125 was more fun than the 390, specially when going downhill. Because the 390 can do the same with a lower rev, and without changing gears. With a more powerful bike, you need to force yourself to keep the revs high. Add that the fact that it is more tiering, and you are less likely to go hard and have the same fun. I can not imagine how much more boring it can be with a 600. I don't even want to know... The sweet spot is between 200 and 400 cc in my opinion.

I got a little Honda Cb300f and while I agree with most of what you say I can't get behind they aren't fun. My bike at top speed can just barely hit 100mph but its plenty for me right now. I love how slim and light the bike is how easy I can handle it and I love being able to ride it aggressively through the regular roads in my town. if it were a 600 it would be too fast to ride that aggressively. It's fine on the high way I agree you might have to be a little patient but There is plenty of people who have lots of fun on 300s. While they may not be your "forever bike" I love my bike and I'll never get rid of it even when I upgrade because it's my first and the memories I've already had on it will stay with my forever.
"A 300 doesn't have enough power." That's the whole point, you have to actually ride it to make it go. You paid for XXX cc motorcycle, shouldn't you use all the cc? The final episode on Yam's channel will be "You know what? Don't even buy a bike." I love my Ninja 300, but I purchased it for the sole purpose of having it as a beginner bike and once I can hone my skills then I'll upgrade.
So i just tried the clutchless upshift today on my bike. It jerked so hard, it caught me off guard. Have i done that with a 1000cc i would have flown over the car in front of me that was a mile away.
I will say I am intrigued by the idea of picking a real good 300/400 and keeping it around even well after you upgrade to a bigger bike just as something to throw around corners and wring the heck out of while still being cheap and easy to maintain, all without the scare factor of jumping straight into a 650 or a 900cc from a bicycle.
I currently ride a 2020 Ninja400 but have ridden the Honda CBR250rr and its a amazing bike for its displacement with all the bells and whistles of a bigger bike. I also got to see the Kawasaki zx25r in the flesh last weekend here in Japan and it sounded phenomenal. The new era of small displacement bikes are upon us and the West (primarily the US) are so hung up on size that they are gonna miss out lol.
Holy cow, THIS^^^^ !!! There are so many badass small displacement bikes, sport or otherwise, that manufacturers will probably never offer to the North American market simply because they aren't "man enough". Super annoying
Fair perspective. As a CB300F rider for 3 years, I am grateful for 300cc class of bikes. (I do think the TW200 at the Team Oregon class is the spawn of Satan though - It almost destroyed my interest in motorcycling forever) I never thought it would be my "forever" bike, but I just cant bring myself to get rid of it. As for fun? It's on par with a Toyota Corolla in acceleration, but the fun is in the corners. And a lot of fun it is.
For me, i own a 150cc now, but due to the crowded city i live in, i cant go bigger than 500cc. So 300 would be suitable for daily use, and wont be uncomfortable to use. The 300 im going for is the Benelli 302S. Small and suitable for traffic in Vietnam.

Ah well, probably stuck with the GSXR until suzuki finishes developing the parallel twin they're replacing the ol' V twin with.

Funny thing about this video being posted. I’ve had my eye on a BMW G 310 R for a while now. Seems to check all of the boxes when it comes to an “in-city” bike, which exactly what I plan on doing a majority of the time. Plus the backroads around here are better enjoyed going at a moderate pace (read: under 55 mph). So, for that (plus learning to ride as a noob) I personally think 300s are an excellent choice.
@bajacore. For the price the BMW is a pretty damn good bike and with ABS for added safety. Plus, not laden with the typical BMW gizmos that lower reliabilty and cost a bundle to fix.
@kannermw It seems teaming up with TVS was a good idea after all. Don’t know much about them, but being the largest motorcycle manufacturer in India (where there’s as many bikes as cars) has its merits. Plus, helps to keep costs down. I’m 90% sold on buying one. The only bike you could start with safely and is powerful enough for a beginner is "Super Duke 1290"
You simply cant explain that to Americans who start on 600/1000cc as 1st bike (they dont get restrictions as we in Europe)...
@@srdjanmatic7099 Hello, I'm Italian and I think that starts with 600/1000cc bike it's too dangerous. For drive over 48hp you must have more than 24 years old or 22 if you have the bike license

You were wise to start small and build up your skill level, be careful and have fun on the FZ07. On this issue Yammie Noob is full of it.

The position is like between a CBR600RR and CBR300R, more sporty but still pretty straight.

another CB300R here, power is ok if you dont ride like a squid, i do several 300+ km rides, not the most confortable experience possible but for the motorcycle itself is perfectly fine.
i suggest +1 front sprocket because stock one is too short and stock speedometer is 10% optimistic, so with a +1 is only 2% off and cruising 80+ kmh is more relaxing
Spite, dont forget some people dont have height on their side! Im an adult that stands 5'6" in shoesies and at about 135 lbs in weight I need less power to push me down the road.

Funny thing about this video being posted. I’ve had my eye on a BMW G 310 R for a while now. Seems to check all of the boxes when it comes to an “in-city” bike, which exactly what I plan on doing a majority of the time.

@@atem8101 You may feel they are milking views but nobody is forcing you guys to watch. They have a schedule of content creation that they stick to, some videos are much more interesting than others. They basically have to follow youtube's algorithm or they go back to their day jobs & then yay! No more YN.
Car & moto channels don't make huge income on youtube, when compared to other categories.
I bought a used R3 just to play on when I don't feel like riding my FJR 1300. It's a fun bike and a welcome change after you are riding such a beast!
Oh, not to mention Yammie also created a video on how 300s can keep up with 600s.
A little contradiction here?
Kawasaki Ninja H2 minimum or go home.
I will pass you on my 300 ..in traffic haha
I started on a 7 liter V8 swapped Busa
The reason 300 class sucks is it's missing about a liter.
Here I am 1 year later and I got a used 2017 Versys X300 ABS and I love it. I'm the second owner and It had a little over 6000 miles. It cruises at 75 on TX highways (60+mpg) with 3000 left to redline. It pulls from 4000 rpm. I wonder how you will feel when your 75 and I was 6'1 1/2" when I graduated in 65. I'm still 5'10" and 180 and I want to add a Grom to my stable. I can't ride a sport bike because of my back. I learned this on a Buell XB9R. I know I won't be around when you are 75, but I do wonder how you will feel then. 4 wheels move the body, 2 wheels move the soul. Peace✌
i am the first viewer lets go
Nobody cares 7 yo kid
Just bought a 2019 Duke 390 after not riding for 38yrs. I’m happy with it, The features and the weight sold me on it.
I’m 6’ 185 and I fit just fine on it. I have some physical problems so I can’t have a rip your arms off HP monster.
Thx Spite
