Yes to all points, except the last. Please, just let a camera be a non smart-thing. Not everything has to be connected to social media. I know, this will come eventually. But don't like it. I don't want to accept cookies on my back screen. I don't want to have TikTok or any other crap on my camera. I just want to shoot pics out in the field and don't want to think about posting, liking, connecting or so. This all can be done at home and that's where it should stay. Shoot outside, connect at home...

Yes to smaller cameras! That's more than half the reason I switched to Fuji X-series from Canon full frame back in 2018... I was so tired of lugging around all that glass up and down mountains. And quite frankly, I don't want to drag it around the streets of Europe either. Give me small cameras!

I'm with you...bring back the X70!!! But include a hotshoe optical viewfinder :-)
I also really dig Pixxi camera's philosophy: Let the phone do what it does best and let the camera do what it does best. Cameras are not going to beat phones at everything, we need to accept that instead of trying to fight with them. Camera manufacturers just need to leverage the strength of the camera and offload what is not it's strength to the phone. One of the key strengths of the camera that Fuji & Leica understand well is the tactile experience. Let's lean into that.

X70 is great and all, but I'd pay an insane amount for an updated X30. A pocketable camera with a modest normal zoom attached would be incredible!
The sensor was the weak point, anything above iso800 was a bit ropey, but I bet with newer sensor tech now they could achieve really good results at 1600, or even 3200!
Edit: I'd also pay silly money for a fast (1.4) 27mm.

I agree with you that they missed out in not having it available. I had the X100V two different times soon after release and sold it as it always felt extra in my bag. I was looking at getting it again, but with the prices blowing up, I picked up a 10 year old Sony RX1 (Full Frame 24mp, 35/f2) for $700 bucks and have been loving it. I've been pretty much Sony exclusive since the A7SIII released and it's amazing how small they were able to make the RX1. If you want to talk about missed opportunity, Sony has missed out by not making an MKIII of this FF power house.

I picked up a XT20 some time ago based in part on one of your videos. I was getting ready to head to Europe and was trying to decide which camera to take with me. I have a X100F and size wise that was at the top of the list. I've traveled with the X100F before and gotten great images with it but for some reason I didn't love it. On the other hand the first Fuji I bought many years back was a X30, a 12 MP camera with a 7.1-28.4 f2-2.8 lens. I loved that camera except for the sensor size. So I picked up a XT20 and used it with my 18-55 zoom for the trip. Worked out great. The only thing I'd add to that kit might be a fast prime like the 18 f2. I think that set up...FOR ME.... is a better choice than the X100 series. (except for that leaf shutter.....)

Hi Omar, I watch all your videos, but usually on my TV so can't post comments. I logged on to a PC to send my suggestion regarding shortage of small Fuji cameras. I addition to my XT5 and several lenses I also have an XS10, matching either one to suit the purpose.
The XS10 with the 27mm pancake lens really is pretty tiny and fits my jacket pocket. With its built-in flash and flippy screen it's an ideal "party" or street camera.
(I've used Pentax SLRs since the late '60s till very recently and still normally use full manual, but in a 'grab the shot in a hurry' situation the XS10's Full Auto setting has never let me down).

    2. FILM SIM MANAGEMENT: Up/download from the camera to PC. I want to have certain sets of them for certain occasions. We shouldn't have to share screen shots of our settings, it should be a sharable file.
    3. SILVER LENSES: I'd prefer silver lens. Sure it's just cosmetic, maybe helps with sunlight heat issues, but I like the look of silver lenses.
    4. POSTING FROM CAMERA: Absolutely a must, just to avoid the hassles.
    5. ELPH-LIKE: I'd love a pocket Fuji in that old Canon Elph size. I hear Fuji had something like that but I'm not familiar with pre XT-3 Fuji. I'd love a small companion Fuji. The X100 series is too big, too expensive. If it paired with the X-T5 to pick up all my settings from that and apply it to a the little bro even better to reduce the screen to nothing. Or let the phone app do the transfer and also function as the screen that isn't on the little bro. But, if it was less than XT3 quality I wouldn't be interested. Simple 22-75 mm zoom on it. $499.

More features like gps location and tracking to where we could find it if it’s stolen. Wouldn’t even be that hard something small like an Apple air tag. They have them on drones if powered on.

I wonder if the camera screen could work as a duplicate screen of a phone?
In this sense you see your Android gallery app on the camera rear screen. Instead of your phone camera folder you click on your 'external' camera folder. Pick images there, use exactly the same way as on your phone.
So in the background the phone would access images from the camera as required, while at the same time it projects it's own screen/user interface to the LCD of the camera, much like an 'external touch screen'.

The reduction in size/weight of the x-s20 is what appeals to me as someone with an x-t30 and x-t4. The x-t4 is definitely smaller and lighter than my old dslr but still a decent weight with a lens attached compared to the x-t30 although some of that is what makes it feel like a quality camera. There’s a sweet spot for me in size as I have reasonably large hands and anything less than the x-t30 would feel incredibly small as I prefer a larger grip. Wouldn’t say no to a little pocketable x100v sized camera though 😂 maybe I need a small, flat lens for the x-t30 and that would be perfect - if I could just decide on a focal length!!

Did you know that in order to adjust shutter speed on Leica camera in 1/3 increments like on pretty much every digital camera in the world you need to use two dials??? As somebody who set my exposure completely manually for decades now, I am not going to touch this marvel of german engineering unless I am paid to suffer :) Here is an idea you never heard before. High resolution sensor allows to simulate shift lens easily. Just turn camera in portrait orientation and crop top or bottom of the image. But nobody offers masks to frame this way in camera. Same thing (stealing from leica deficiencies), make markings for cropping in different focal length. For example, if I put gf45mm on, let me mark what part of frame is going to be equivalent of 63mm or something. And make it option to have a full screen with frame lines, or zoom into "new focal" length. Easy changes that make cameras more fun to use.

    • @thebitterfig9903
      @thebitterfig9903 Год назад +1

There's so much lost potential with in-camera cropping. My personal bugbear is that Fuji cameras other than GFX don't have TX-1 65:24 crops built in. They made the damn XPan for Hasselblad in the first place, but won't put it in their APS-C cameras?
But yeah, a similar-to-shift crop effect would be sweet. Or even just leaving the crop in the center of the frame, to add that rangefinder-style "see more than you shoot" vibe to the EVF.
Crops like this are all things that can be done in post, but being able to do them in camera makes it a lot easier to compose the shots.

What are the things that I think is that all of the Fujifilm camera to take a very similar photo? It doesn’t really matter too much what you own. If you put a 27 mm lens on a Fujifilm body and then line them all up and took Shay 10 photos with 10 different cameras you would get very similar results so what we’re talking about. Here is style and fashion sense over substance and I get that people want to be stealthy and they want a camera to look a certain way. But at the end of the day, nearly all of the Fuji film cameras, take very similar photos and by the way that is a good thing not a bad thing, I own an XT5 But previous to that around the S 10 and I love that little camera as well and I’m actually thinking I might re-buy another one as a backup camera. At the end of the day with Fuji you get a very similar Cameron a matter what you buy in terms of how the photos you gonna turn out and at the end of the day we take photos for photos if that makes sense I hope that makes sense. Yeah I know some cool kids want to look cool on the street with their camera and for people to notice them and maybe for people to come up to me go or is that an X100V and all of a sudden they are gushing over that camera I get it….

The main missed opportunity is just by failing to meet demand for the X100V. Grab market share while the hype is hot, even if the demand is not for the preferred flagship. When the hype dies down, that's when special editions and X100V successors come into play, and ensure that X100V owners looking to upgrade are enticed by the actual Fujifilm flagships at that point.

A bit of news is that Fujifilm has discontinued the X-E4 with no signs of a replacement on their website. Also, to make your camera work more like your phone means working from the computational photography end of the spectrum and that will take quite a bit of R&D to make it work for serious photographers. Consider how all the current manufacturers have trouble powering the cameras they make now. And let’s not forget the problems they still have with overheating. How much are you willing to pay for your “unicorn” camera? I guarantee it wouldn’t be cheap.

Give me a light weight tough body with a fixed lens like the CL Minolta. Lens choice - 55 mm 1.8 . I bet that surprised you lol. 55 mm is my favourite focal length followed by 135mm . It is why I shoot 30 and 60 mm on MFT on a light body . The kit zoom is handy - aren’t they all?
The wide angle on my phone is good and can do most things .
In an ideal world I want a camera that is maintained and updated for me at a nominal cost . In short - sustainable photography and very green .

I'm pretty sure this a supply chain issue. Fuji is dependent on Sony for making its sensors, and is a relatively small customer for them. And the Xtrans is quite bespoke and unlike the normal bayer sensors used by the rest of the industry. Even if they wanted to come out with special editions or new models, I'm not sure they have sufficient capacity to meet demand right now.

If I'm thinking up a wild camera to make, a full-frame compact akin to the x100 line, with a 45 or 50mm f/1.7 lens, leaf shutter and built in flash. It'd be the portrait compact, or the digital version of a lot of the classic fixed-lens rangefinders like Yashica Electro, Konica Auto S2, or Canon QL G-iii. Far shallower depth of field than any other fixed-lens camera on the market. I'm not generally FF obsessed, but the one spot where that sensor size really has a huge advantage is in bright-aperture lenses close to the standard focal length. Leaning into that with something like a 50mm f/1.7, when paired with a fill flash and leaf shutter, just opens up so much shallow DOF options, portraits even when backlit at golden hour for the influencer set, but also such a camera would fulfill any Henri Cartier-Bresson fantasies of nerds like us.
But like, just having a next iteration of the x70 and having more stock for their existing and recently discontinued cameras (alas the X-E4) would go a long way.

The problem is that the Fujifilm used camera market has been disrupted and won't be fixed until there's a new X100 series at a lower price tag then what X100V was sold for but Fujifilm being Fujifilm, will release the next one a few hundred dollors up. Yes, they could release a variant of both XE4 and X100V in graphite or whatever but even that move won't fix the used camera prices. Damage has been done already.

A manual lens with old schools distance markers would be even better. Will get the in-focus shot faster than any AF system, camera or phone.
The big part of Fuji is classic (or retro) UI and design. Putting a smartphone interface at the heart of it like some seem to want to do would just make the brand a pastiche. Like the cheapest knock-off version of a Leica you can find on Wish where looks are more important than soul.
I like that the app lets you save different versions of the camera how you set it up for different purposes, or just to be able to save the film Sims the Fuji way. That's a good use of technology keeping the soul of Fuji. I'd like to see more touches like that. Subtle use of technology to enhance not take over the experience.
