Chicago is legacy of songs and rock history. Different eras also provided sustainable songs over the airwaves for decades. We concern ourselves with our beloved aging bands and diminished original members but Chicago always delivers and may still be the best horn band that ever existed.

I still haven't got use to their new lead singer. Cetera snd Scheff were the Chicago I grew up with and love.

Thanks Joe! I've been a Chicago fan since the early 70's, and don't care for their sappy 80's songs so much. I finally saw the band during their Venetian residency in 2020, just before Covid shut things down. It sounds like their setlist was basically the same now, as I saw 4 years ago. It was a fantastic show! A highlight was to hear them play Ballet for a Girl in Buchanan (the last long set of songs before the intermission). They did an intermission when I saw them and it sounds like that's a standard for them these days. I wish there were more original members, but they've been around since the late 60's... I'm sorry to hear that Robert Lamb isn't singing as much, as when I saw them. But their energy and sound is still great, and the theater is fantastic! Thanks again, G.

Well, like you, I grew up in L.A., but I’m much older than you, so I’ve seen EVERY combination of musicians for Chicago, starting in 1972. I am partial to the older rock style that Terry Kath and Robert Lamm pioneered, but, I was just “ok” with the 80s and 90s ballads. Although “Look Away” is an all time fav.
Today’s lineup doesn’t compare at all with the energy of the original 7 guys (sat in front row at Aladdin Theater, Las Vegas, 1977), but a close second place was the Jason Scheff/Lou Pardini/Robert Lamm lineup of the 2010s.
You are right, that current show is fun, song list good, musicians VERY talented… just still feel a bit nostalgic for Terry Kath and Peter Cetera.

Just purchased tickets for the summer tour with Earth Wind & Fire, total bummer when I pulled up some recent set lists. If your performing 25 plus songs you should be able to squeeze in more than 4 80’s Chicago songs. I feel like they do it just to spite Peter but there’s no denying they were the bigger hits.

This current version hates 80s Chicago. And now with practically no original members, it’s just Lamm’s game to play. Sad.

They are SO MUCH MORE THAN TWO DIFFERENT BANDS. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT JUST A SAPPY BALLADS. Listen to all their ALL OF IT. You will hear a lot of R & B, Funk, blues, rock, so no they're not just the original band and then sappy just love songs.

Chicago is great 👍 …but 3 original members only left….. lead singer ok but….they have replaced the guitarist at least 3 times…. Ok show only because of their HITS keep them going.
I’ve only go if I get a free ticket they’re not worth paying for anymore too many substitute players now and they’re basically just going through the motions of playing the hits which we all love but it’s not worth my money to go see it unless it’s free

I have no doubt the music sounds good, and they play some wonderful songs, but it is not really "Chicago". Two members of the horn section (Pankow, Loughnane) and Lamm makes this more of a "tribute" band. This IMO is more an evening of "Chicago" music than seeing the band "Chicago". Even worse is that reviewer says Lamm does not sing much during the show so there is very little of the original voices of "Chicago". In the end, if you want to sit back and listen to some Chicago music, then show is probably great for you. If you wanted to say you saw the band "Chicago" than you missed that opportunity years ago.

I’ve seen Chicago over 100 times. (1984-2018). I’m 56. Like you I love Live Music. This assemble is a joke. I stop going to their concerts when they got rid of Coffey (singer after Jason Scheff) in favor of this Karaoke singer Neil. When Jason left, then Tris (drummer) then Keith (guitarist), then original founder Walt (Sax), I said good riddance. Honestly, you should listen to the Russian cover band that tours singing Chicago tunes.

The late great Laudir de Oliveira was the first percussionist and was added to the original 7 in 1974. It is not a recent thing.
