I thought his last special before this one was really good. Way better than every thing he put out before. But this last one was just weak and it was also telling that he was trying to appease a specific type of crowd, like he has been doing with his podcast. It's kinda like getting laughs based on sympathy for the point you're making instead of it actually being funny. I do listen to his podcast still when he has someone interesting. The problem that became more and more prevalent though is that he had these insightful people on talking about stuff they know nothing about. Jorden Peterson is interesting around psychology questions but his broader societal views over and over are simply not. Brett Weinstein same story. The JRE is not an insightful podcast. It never was and Joe would be the first to tell you. It's a bit easy though to put so much BS into the world as the biggest podcast out there and don't care about any responsibility around validity of the things being said or having covered all bases around a subject. It's an easy excuse from Rogan to just say one shouldn't take him seriously when he only has certain people around a subject in his podcast and not others. And he kinda showed his carts around the elections. He's really going for the right wing crowd, I guess because this serves him better and makes more sense to him financially. Hopefully afterwards he'll get back to what he did initially, but I'm not sure if he can. Around comedy, it's really more about spending time with his friends when he talks about it. Certain comedians that aren't part of his little club will never be on. That's what I like about Chappele who doesn't do little clubs and simply hangs out with everyone, whether its Rogan or Trevor Noah. With Rogan it's not about comedy, it's more about making this case for comedy and how special he and his friends are. If it really was about comedy, he would lift up others as well.
The craft talk is cringe bar none, I don’t find Joe Rogan’s stand up funny but every now and then on the podcast he’ll make me laugh. Like a friend or a little less. Definitely talented dude in other areas but I don’t him funny or a good comic.
You’re wrong it isn’t hatred for Rogans comedy it’s hatred for the fact he tried to pass that turd off as comedy. Secondly Rogan isn’t middle of the road politically he’s a right wing conspiracy peddler.
