Love you guys diy technology. Give a Indian some scrap he will make the world in his shed for shits and giggles. Would love to visit the industrial parts of India.
Your work is really good, but man, working in gloves during grinding and polishing is REALLY unsafe. My grandfather lost his fingers right the same way. The glove caught on the mechanism and wound around it in a matter of seconds, which led to the loss of 2 fingers (one of which was impossible to recover). So, please, stay safe.
woah, i had no clue? if its seriously dangerous and not just a freak accident, that needs to be said more... since commonly gloves are basic safety equipment. i usually flinch seeing people working without gloves in these kinds of videos, but now i know, i guess!
@@brutalbunny gloves are good safety equipment when moving parts aren't involved. They might protect your hands from heat, but it's much much better to just have a quench ready and take it slow. It can get really really nasty. Cuts and burns are no problem for me but if you get your hand caught in machines like this it'll never be the same again. Please stay safe
Good job 👏 Please, I want to understand the process of polishing : what is the green material you used ( and if there are other materials can be used ) and what is the type of brush/ disc you used for polishing in time 11:05 ? Does this process is equivalent to the nickel plating process ? And does it sill shining ever or may rust by time ? Thank you
Not the creator but I can answer these. The disc is called a buffing wheel. It's made of cotton or felt and you "charge" it with a buffing compound which is what the green stuff was. The buffing compound looks like tripoli to me but I could be wrong. The compound is essentially just really really tiny grits of some kind of abrasive mixed up into a clay-like solid paste thing
And nickel plating involves using acid and electricity to literally bond a thin layer of nickel to the surface of another metal so it's entirely different than polishing
La verdad que no es lindo, pero al menos, es complicado.... Me gusta ver como cuida sus delicadas manos con guantes.... Los herreros rusos trabajan a mano desnuda sobre hierro y acero...... Eso marca quien es quien.....👍
I think heating up the iron object and quenching it in motor oil will prevent rust. Not too hot. About hot frying pan hot. The object will be a bluish color.
He was clearly working out minor imperfections in the surface of the scrap steel as the project moved through the various stages of completion. I can tell you from personal experience that any time you are working with scrap/repurposed metal, there are little pits, dings and dents of varying depths and sizes. Some prove much more difficult to work out than others. With the desired result being a polished, almost mirror finish on this piece, the use of different levels of abrasive sanding, starting with the most aggressive grit and working down to a fine grit before a final polish would be the best way to achieve said effect.

Gloves with a rotator machine?
Really nice work there, I myself have been experimenting with iron, how do you prevent it from rusting? Or do you just make these for content?

great video! there is a problem i don't understand is why sanding ( 8:35 ) and then polishing ( 11:05 ) ?
