~Field Artist sketchbook
~Winsor & Newton primaries gouache set
~Kingart 1/2” angled flat, size 4 round and size 1 liner
~Artify size 9 & 11 round
~Scotch magic tape

my mum was having a bad day so her and i sat down and decided to do something relaxing together. i just bought some gouache and thought this would be a fun first try. my mum and i arent painters so there were a lot of giggles and "whaaaat? how did she do that??"s and, though our paintings certainly dont look as beautiful as yours, we had a lovely time following your tutorial and learning and experimenting. this totally turned our day around and i just wanted to thank you for making these videos and allowing people to learn and be inspired to create with you, no matter their level of experience. thank you for making us happier, i cant wait to follow more of your tutorials!

No one makes perfectly beautiful paintings their first few times.. in fact, you may not see improvement for the first 10-20 pieces. But if you stick with it, you WILL see improvement. My husband is an artist, and he informed me that literally everyone starts out making imperfect art. What separates good artists from mediocre is that the good artists KEPT going. Also, don't judge a piece until you are done with it. Every piece of art looks messy and weird until you are 100% done.. just keep going, you will get better!
Hello Ruth. This is the first easy to follow, calm, clearly instructed teaching on Gouache that I have ever heard. I had to paint something related to rain for my class and this really helped since I was out of ideas and I only had an hour to make it! I painted it on a canvas with acrylic paint, turned out fantastic! Tysm for this

this was fun to do! I'm still getting used to this medium so my picture is not as crisp as yours but I still love it nonetheless. I cant wait to try more and get better with gouache.

Such a great video!! I was able to do this with himi gouache and a white gel pen and mushroom washi tape! I was worried but this was so wonderful!

I love this tutorial! Gave me good results for the very first time in gouache! I'm going to paint it again more carefully now. I'd love it if you would give us a hint of the color mixing you do to get at each color you apply! I have a hard time with that.
