If you think about it, Richard already met Locke in 1954 when Locke was time traveling, he was there at the hospital right after Locke was born, and then met him again when Locke was five years old. Jack also told Richard in 1977 not to give up on him. So Richard has known Locke already for a very long time. And he also knows during this scene that Locke will become the leader of the Others and start traveling through time. It makes it more interesting to watch this scene if you remember that.
Ceviz 1954 interaction with Locke on the island already happened to Richard; it just hasn't happened to this 2004 Locke. Just like 1977 island interactions already occurred to Richard but not to Jack yet.
@@SuCKeRPunCH187 Richard is aware that Locke WILL time travel to the past because (1) In 1954 Locke told him how he came to the island on a plane in 2004 etc - which means Locke has yet to time travel so this is the first time for him meeting Richard. and (2) Richard lived that event in 1954 but Locke has yet to like 1954 island interaction.
Great actor, that scene with the ghost of his wife and Hurley, can't be easy to look straight through someone stood right next to you as if they are not there but he is convincing
It's crazy to think that the Others were able to figure out the identify of the con artist that "killed" Sawyer's parents 30 years ago and were able to track him down and lickety split him over to their island in the middle of the ocean.
In hindsight, THIS was ALL part of the LONG CON to get Ben to resent John enough (for replacing Ben as leader of the Others) to kill Locke so that MiB could use Locke as the loophole to kill Jacob so that Jack (who is NOT bound by the you can't kill each other rule) can KILL MiB and end the Smoke Monster threat on Island and the Light going out everywhere threat on&off Island!
What do you mean by '' Jack (who is NOT bound by the you can't kill each other rule) can KILL MIB''? I thought Jack or anyone would be able to kill the MiB after shutting off the light/source.
@SymmetryOX no Jacob and MIB/his brother have a rule set upon each other by their mom who adopted them after she killed their original mom. She made it so no matter what Jacob couldn't kill MIB and MIB couldn't kill Jacob hence why MIB started trying to corrupt the people who came to the island to kill Jacob because they can he cannot
Even after the light/plug was pulled they still had that curse set upon them even though Jacob died ultimately by MIB through Ben. No matter what until one or the other dies the curse exists. I think that's why jacobs brother turned into the MIB because Jacob did that to him so it wouldn't cause death only suffering
Richard was the true leader of the others. Jacob made him that. If he wanted Ben out, all he had to do was replace him. The show runners just started making stuff up season 6 and this doesn't jive. Still upsets me
That wouldn't work - it defeats Jacob's plan that people should be good out of their own free will. Richard is just an emissary - Jacob doesn't want to be a puppet master.
Jacob needed Ben to become a tool for MiB as part of his long con. Also, Jacob wanted Richard to merely nudge people so that MiB's lies were the sole message they received. He still wanted them to choose who and what to believe. He didn't want them to simply obey instructions, which is what Jacob did re MiB not being able to leave the Island and staying away from people and becoming the Island's protector. He wanted people to exercise choice aka have free will and personal agency, even if that led to some truly tragic outcomes.
Well he did for about 2 minutes before the flashes started. And they accomplished everything John told them to none of them died under his leadership in ALL that time. Inspiring really.
That was very sad indeed 😞 One of the saddest moments of Lost... Imagine having a life where you can only grasp your dreams becoming true. This is indeed the fear of many of us. This situation happened to Locke a lot of times, like he was life's punchbag... 😢 RIP Locke, good boy.
But it interesting to think: Ben was also a "punchbag", perfectly manipulated by MiB. Locke was also manipulated by MiB, but there was a difference in the end, something I cannot define quite right at the moment. Maybe, someday ^^ The tv show of my life ✨❤️💝✨✨
Don’t you think it would have freaked Locke out if Richard said hi I’m Richard..I met you when you were a baby because you time travelled to the 50s and I’m immortal
@@badsports2684 okay, but why ben doesn't remember that sayid tried to kill him when he was a kid in 1977? Is it because when he was cured by richard the temple fucked his memory a little bit?
Ben killed his father so hes probably just a sick individual who thinks this is an unbeatable task that john can't "beat" him at proving ben is more dedicated or something twisted in his hjead.

Amazing, Richard already knew Locke was going to become leader at this point cause they had already met in 1954, so he's helping him now

I love Richard and his man bag.
I love the little hints in Richard's dialogue

It's way simpler than that lol Jackob knows and causes everything, and the others are HIS people
James looked for over 25 years for the identity of “Sawyer” and he never did until just after Richard and Locke did this. That’s the crazy part
It's so crazy that Richard has already met Locke. There's a reason Richard confides in him so easily.
