The Magic Ring // How to do the crochet Magic Ring // Starting a round

- The Magic Ring is used when working a round. One of two ways to work a round actually. The other way is the Chain 2 Method.
You will see the magic ring used when making projects such as a beanie, a ball, a stuffed animal or anything round or circular.
The Magic Ring gets it's name because you are able to make as many stitches as you need in the first round and then by pulling the tail you close the ring tightly so that there is little to no opening. It looks impossibly done afterwards, like magic.

Thank you! Now I have mastered the magic ring. You made it so easy. ❤️🧶❤️🧶
Hi Amy! Oh I am so glad I could be helpful! 😊🧡🧶
Hello tiffany. I love this method, because it closes up well.
Thank you for sharing, this tutorial I found was very helpful. You were very descriptive and good at teaching thank you
Thank you for the tutorial. Now is looks simple to make a magic ring
🧡🧡🧡
Excellent demonstration, I really think I can do this now!
Oh Yay! Give it a try and let me know what you think Jacki! 😊🧶🧡
I just saw this in another video and this has helped me so much more. Thanks for the instructional video. The one I originally saw just rushed through it.
You are so very welcome Dranette!! Glad my video could be helpful. Thank you so much for watching! 😊🧶🧡
Thank you!! You made it look so easy!
Just simply wanted to say thanks for taking the time to show us how to do the magic ring. Time for me to give it another try. Thanks!
You make things so much easier Tiffany. Thank you
I was just thinking the same thing!
Awe I am so happy that you think so. That is my whole goal! 😊🧶🧡
🧡🧡🧡
I use this many times rather than chain and slip stitch. It closes up so nicely. Thank you.
Cool!!! Thanks Tiffany!!
You are most welcome Harriet! Thanks for watching! 😊🧶🧡
Thank’s Tiffany, this looks like a very easy magic ring, almost given up all hope on doing them until I saw you tutorial.😍
Oh I am so happy I could create a tutorial that was helpful and do-able. The magic ring can appear complicated. But it does have some good benefits. 😊🧡🧶
Thank You so much for sharing this. I’ve always had a problem starting a magic ring. Now I get it because you made it so clear. 😃💖
So happy I could help!! 😊🧶🧡
Tiffany, I LOVE seeing people STILL using this technique! I have been using it for over 45 years!!! Great channel....I have been Subbed since the 2nd video!
Richard
Oh my gosh Hi Richard! I love hearing from people who have been with me from the beginning. Love and appreciate your support so incredibly much. Thank you so much for sticking with me on my RUclips journey and letting me be a part of your crochet experience. 🤗😊🧶🧡
Thank you Tiffany!! I’ve tried making the Magic Ring in the past, but some of the others never explained it like you just did! I will be trying that out tomorrow. We have a Wedding to go to and we’ll be driving to east Texas (which will be about 8 hours from where we live)!! It’s easier for me to crochet smaller projects while riding in a vehicle than trying to crochet a larger project!!
Thank you again, you’re a wonderful teacher & friend!
Norma Collins from Texas
Oh you are so welcome Norma! Glad my tutorial could be helpful! Have fun at the Wedding! And crocheting the 8 hours to get there. I agree with you. Crocheting in the car it's nice to accomplish quick little projects and give you that feeling of accomplishing something. 😊🧶🧡
I just learned the magic ring not long ago.
I always use the magic ring for my hats, a customer in Michaels show me how to make it.
Thanks!
Love it thank you 😊
You are most welcome Maritza!!😊🧡🧶
I had given up on learning the magic ring but you just might have changed that. I would always skip patterns using it because I just didn't get it but you just made it so clearly easy I'm excited to try again. Thank you!
Oh Thriftythreds1969 you are going to make me tear up. I am so glad my video could be helpful for you and give you hope on trying something that hasn't worked for you in the past. You totally got this! 😊🧶🧡
I usually double the magic ring to secure it better
Oh that's cool. Thanks for sharing how you do it. 😊🧶🧡
Thank you!!!
You are most welcome Theresa!! 😊🧡🧶
Hey Tiffany Hansen thanks you so much for the video today are you going to put up the stocking tutorial today and right now I am working on a blanket for a friend
Hi Samantha! Yep! My mini stocking tutorial goes live today! Hope you like it. 😊🧡🧶
I love the magic ring. Don't like the chain 4 style now.
I only use the magic ring. Doing the number of chains and going back into the first chain never works for me as I can’t seem to ever get it tightened.
Totally get it. Glad you found a way that works best for you! I think that's the hardest part, playing around with different techniques to see what feels the best for you. 😊🧶🧡
I used the magic ring on a 6ft. Wide double strand sc rug. 1st time I washed the rug the ring came open and I had to repair the rug. Never again.
Oh No! That's so sad. Totally understand why you would be turned off from the Magic Ring. I often favor the Chain 2 method myself or in the case of the rug maybe the chain 4 slip stitch circle because you are adding so many stitching inside the ring with bulky yarn. But yaaaaa, that's an unfortunate experience for sure.
I have the same thing happen to me and I’ve tried so many times
I have a hard time with this. I’m left handed
Hi Alison! I just posted a left handed version of the Magic Ring tutorial if you would like to check it out. I hope it is helpful for you. ruclips.net/video/I4is26t-1L0/видео.html
