Might help to point out you can get the takomos in head only so you can put your fitted shafts in them.I know lack of fitting for takomos is a big talking point but the fact you can order just the heads at an even cheaper price is huge.
So how do you know the heads and shafts perform well together? You still have to buy shafts, grips, pay a club builder to build them, swing weight them and make sure they are consistent through the set. Head only might sound like a good idea but it opens a can of worms for many and won’t work out much cheaper.
@@soloking2141 I dont think it is fair, your original comment was fair but Iains isn't. @@soloking2141 agreed. Ultimately shaft is king, my last fitting in feb the shaft was nailed down the. We went through a range of heads. The final 3 weee negligible and the fitter said I should pick which I preferred as there was no performance difference (forged tec, apex pro and i230)
In the Takomo you can also have "as standard" a combo set CB/MB (that's what I've got in the bag). That's great because who needs "cavity help" in a PW or a 9i, really; where loft helps massively, and who can handle toe-ing a 4i MB on a cold January morning? Other than that, it's worth noting that the 301 offer a rare thing these days: normal lofts so that you don't have to re-thing the rest of the bag when you change your irons!
any half decent iron set at this level has normal lofts….. the takomos are junk clubs. subpar performance and feel. plus the only offer one shaft, and since it’s not one i use, getting the proper shafts means i’d save money just buying pings and getting better shafts off the bat
@@Captainchaos14 Well "any half decent set" bar at least 70% of the market (32° 7i is becoming the norm if you'd paid attention to the recent trends). As for the "junk", "subpar performance and feel", I beg to differ and I'm not alone on that... But what do I know, I've only played them for more than a year, and can only compare them to what I've played before : Mizuno mp5, Bridgestone J38 CB, Miura 1957, Titleist 710 CB... Wouldn't say that I saw any difference in performance and feel is somewhat between the MP5 and the Miuras. Ping, except maybe recently with the blueprint, have always been harsh, hard, feeling crap... Now, sure the website only offers two or three shaft choices and that may not be what you "need"... But you can buy the heads and have them shafted by your local club maker (or do it yourself). @@francoisdesmoulins-lebeaul4273 sorry that your feel is so off, and that you don’t do research. the only irons like these that jack lofts down are srixons. pings are 34, titleist is 34, taylormade is 33 in the new bc, 34 in the mc, cobra is 34, callaways are 34…. plenty of better options. even if i just bought heads and shafts to build myself, i save maybe 300$. at that point, i might as well look into better sticks. i switched to the blueprint s and t’s and the difference has been night and day.

Aesthetics: "angular" look probably very acceptable to many. The DeLorean, the Countache, Cybertruck, et al have traditionally created polarized lovers and haters, yes?
301 cb (cavity back blade) not meant for high handicappers. 301s are meant for low handicappers. High handicappers should be using the 101 or 101t. Sorry but this is just wrong.
The ZX7 is probably the most underrated player’s iron out there, but the top line is horrendous. To describe it as looking “bladey” at address is baffling
Hey Peter, love seeing you play! We truly are the most famous clubs on the internet (at least in our own opinion) and are taking over the game! 🔥 We really appreciate the feedback.
Yeah, I’ve no doubt they’re good clubs but I went for P790’s in the end. The Takomo’s were cheaper but once I’d added the additions I wanted in grip, length and lie and then calculated import duties there wasn’t enough of a saving to push the button on a club I’d never hit.
I don’t understand why golfers care at all about club aesthetics and sound. Surely the only things that matter are performance based? I just don’t understand as a new player why it’s ever mentioned in reviews when it’s ultimately a tool to helps enable the next shot or place the ball in the hole🤷🏼♂️
Yea the Takomo's are cheaper right now, until the bill is due on all these RUclips creators deals needing to be paid. And then they will just be as much as any other club I'm sure.
I’m probably in the minority here, but I could care less what my clubs look like. My main objective is to hit them well. I have a friend who is all about the looks of his clubs so he owns super slick blades that he can’t hit for shit. I think the quality of shot is way more impressive than the quality of club you are using.
Only 30% of golfers who bother to have a handicap have one under 10. However, most golfers I play with don't bother to even carry one. So the number of golfers who are regularly breaking 80 is way way under 30%.
Agreed I played blades for years and never improved beyond a 7 hcp My short game especially putting is dire but and I've been known to go 7 off the tee
30% of golfers achieve a sub 10 handicap? What a hilarious and obviously wrong statistic. If you're a sub-10 cap I guarantee you're at least in the 95th percentile, if not 99th. USGA is probably looking at percentages of golfers who have an official handicap. That'll inherently skew the numbers to good golfers and completely ignores the vast majority of weekend hackers that don't even bother keeping a handicap nor a proper score. I just looked up the USGA stats. It puts the distribution peak around a 10-12 handicap. Considering that as "average" is funny. I bet an average golf score is around 100-110
good point. in my golf league of guys that worked for a utility, i was playing public courses as a 10 handicap and i was in the top 10-20% players in the league.
Yeah, averag score for all golfers is 102 to 105 I believe. I've heard 1% of golfers are scratch but I'm not sure about that. Average D1 Men's score in 2021 was 73.61.

Aesthetics: "angular" look probably very acceptable to many. The DeLorean, the Countache, Cybertruck, et al have traditionally created polarized lovers and haters, yes?
@1:50 did you blade it? lol!
Hi Peter, your accent is more if a London one. Sounds like you maybe been privately educated. I am always amazed how you can hit a 7 iron 190+
😂😂😂😂 London
I assume the creators with Takomo have been fitted to them unlike the general public.
Lumps and ridges in places they ought not be.......reminds me of myself
The Takoma 301s aren't really meant for low handicappers. The 101 or 101ts are more for the lower handicap. Forgiving and distance.
301 cb (cavity back blade) not meant for high handicappers. 301s are meant for low handicappers. High handicappers should be using the 101 or 101t. Sorry but this is just wrong.
@@joelchapman4705Right right
The ZX7 is probably the most underrated player’s iron out there, but the top line is horrendous. To describe it as looking “bladey” at address is baffling
my zx7 mkII irons are $$$$$$$$$$$$
New srixon irons coming soon👀
Hey Peter, love seeing you play! We truly are the most famous clubs on the internet (at least in our own opinion) and are taking over the game! 🔥 We really appreciate the feedback.
I felt this wonderful feeling in my mind, body and soul when she said “I prefer kislux
Takomo are good I had the 101t but don’t be fooled by the price. Once shipped to the uk add on £120 to the price in import duties. 😳😳
The new zxi have far more shelf appeal
No Titleist irons in this category is criminal , had srixons they just don’t compare to my T100 irons , 6 handicap
Big price, Please keep these irons in a safe place after your round...
No Mizuno 🙈 what’s going Peter ?? Quality comes at a price.
They don't look that bad Pete! You have too much choices😅
New Level 480-MC’s. Your welcome
Yea the Takomo's are cheaper right now, until the bill is due on all these RUclips creators deals needing to be paid. And then they will just be as much as any other club I'm sure.
The only reason why Tacomo is compelling is pure price.
New srixons en route zxi ...they look the same 🤣🤣🤣
weeeeee 🕶
P7mc look ugly to me compared to the Zx7's
The first model of the P7MCs were perfect. Beautiful clubs
@@dan8085I agree. I prefer the first model, they look great... They went backwards in aesthetics per my personal taste
@@huddwah I still have my set because if my current gamers fall through, I know I have a reliable set to turn back to
I am not the golfer described in the beginning.
F150? No sir.
Misleading title. What irons you can play is dependent on your balls striking ability not your handicap.
Agreed
I played blades for years and never improved beyond a 7 hcp
My short game especially putting is dire but and I've been known to go 7 off the tee
Why don’t you have a Mancunian accent?
Not from Manchester lol - Preston!, about 40mins North of Manchester
I’ve always heard that 30% of golfers break 100! Not as common as media makes out
good point. in my golf league of guys that worked for a utility, i was playing public courses as a 10 handicap and i was in the top 10-20% players in the league.
Yeah, averag score for all golfers is 102 to 105 I believe. I've heard 1% of golfers are scratch but I'm not sure about that. Average D1 Men's score in 2021 was 73.61.
I think it means overall since it says ever achieve.
