  • Jeneen and her two children live in a tent community in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. The cause of their homelessness is high cost of living in Northern Canada, not wanting to burden relatives, and needing to be close to community services.
Often people ask "why don't their relatives help?", which I normally ask "how was your last Thanksgiving - drama free?". The point is more often than not living with a family member is rather uncomfortable. Imagine an "extra" family living with you indefinitely and without their own income! Rather quickly it becomes a burden, and most people these days just don't have the space and income to take care of another family.
Jeneen seems to be making the best of it, for now! This is not camping - it is homeless! And winter is fast approaching.
I do love her last wish.

    About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they’re on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as RUclips, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can’t ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation’s most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath - its founder - and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America’s homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.

Troy Davidson my heart aches for you. We were a hair away from being homeless and the stress was immense. I was sick and newly diagnosed with a disease and so was my daughter and my son was also having health issues. Being poor is hard work especially when you’re sick too! It’s constant dealing with this state facility and that state facility and food stamps and government help and trying to make sure you smile when you’re hurting for your kids so they don’t worry. It’s laundry Mats to do laundry so you have clean clothes and lots of crying 😢. Not knowing where you will land your head at night and who will hurt you or steal from you or hurt your kids. People are mean and judgemental. We lost everything when their dad left. Our home, our animals our security and I couldn’t work sick. I couldn’t leave a sick child with daycare nor afford daycare. It was awful but God is good because he humbled me so much. I’m thankful for everything I have. So God bless you and I hope you are doing well. Let’s pray for those who are suffering. Let’s wake people up and educate them more on how to help and not hurt. Bless you!!! 💕💕💕

I moved to Whitehorse in 2002 and there was a housing shortage then, especially for low income. It’s now 2021 and nothing has changed. Which begs the question...why would anyone go there knowing that there is a housing shortage? Unless you already have an arrangement in place.

Absolutely BS ego driven mentality. This is why I WILL NEVER give money to homeless people. Majority of them are there either by choice which is worse or due to the fundamental inability to recognize their own fault and the impact of their decisions. They will find every single fault with everything other than themselves however. This is why they will always remain homeless even if the government gave them everything.

@AllGuts NoGlory How is the system not working? The price of a house or an apartment in Whitehorse is astronomical because Yukon is literally in the middle of nowhere. Bringing food, clothes, gas, construction materials and so on is EXTREMELY expensive, which explains why renting an apartment there is very costly. On the other hand, I would have many questions for this woman (I still hope she now found somewhere to live…) 1) Why doesn't she apply for Canada's welfare programs? There are tons of financial programs to help people who can't find a job and people with children get even more money. This is in addition of the family allocations that every Canadian families can subscribe to. 2) Why did she leave Ontario to go to Yukon? Living in Ontario is 10 times cheaper than Yukon. 3) Why does she stay there if she can't afford an apartment? She could simply move to another province where apartments are much more cheaper. 4) If she really want to stay in Yukon, then I'm pretty sure that with Canada's welfare program she can find a way to improve her life standards.
Most homeless people in Canada aren't homeless because they don't have money, but because of other problems. Some have mental problems (like depressions, schizophrenia, etc.), some have drug addictions, some are illegal immigrants are aren't legally allowed to find a job and to apply to a welfare program. In the case of the woman in this video, I think she's simply misinformed… She could very easily improve her life quality, but she doesn't seem to know how.

    • @patrickgingras4882
      @patrickgingras4882 4 года назад

@JAXHDTV If you work and manage your money properly, why would you be homeless? On the other hand, if one day you have a very big problem which makes that you don't have enough money to survive, then their are ton of social programs to help you to get out of this bad situation.

@@patrickgingras4882 The main problem is the amount of trouble people have to go through in order to do even half of the stuff you mentioned.
Welfare in Ontario is brutal to acquire due to the amount of people committing ODSP and Welfare fraud.
Many changes have been implemented as a result.
I'm not entirely sure regarding pinpoint accurate details but many friends/ acquaintances have applied for it and less than 10 of them have received their checks. You have to go through a 4 or 6 month process... and they jerk you around.
Unless you have a bunch of kids to take care of... In which case you can receive about 600 to 800 dollars a month for each child in your legal care.
      Don't quote me on this...

People need March for demand better of our Government beauracracy's people falling through the cracks very disturbing too me . God Bless one and all be safe hope your situation changes no kids need be homeless and going hungry .My Grandma had eleven kids during great depression . She lived through great dust bowl too. Half time they lived in tents shacks they made it owned dairy farm later in life . All her kids did pretty good for themselves never we're homeless because of growing up tough . Think they made sure they were never in that position again .They all had families and nice homes so you can you just keep positive and things will change for the better .

@Deep Inside yet again deep inside sheep explains another truth of the world. Every rich person alive worked hard and honestly for their wealth. Not a single one of them inherited, or was lucky enough to be given that wealth. Every wealthy person made their capital by their own hard work. Society has contributed zero to this transfer. Not one highway, road, electrical, plumbing, financial, health care, or publicly funded infrastructure project helped to contribute to their financial hoarding? And to repay society for its support of wealth generation the rich force tax cuts for themselves at the expense of the working class. That's almost like charging your parents interest on the money they spent raising you. I'm going to go ahead and say you're not as well off deepinsidegoats as you believe?

Of course I’m sarcastic. I think her moving there with a one way bus ticket with her kids would probably be a better start. Not sure if Canadians need a visa for long term stay. If she did find some daycare for her kids and she had employment it’s doable. She doesn’t seem like she has any mental issues. And she looks healthy- as far as I can tell from the video, no drug use. I think it’s possible for her to succeed in Michigan.
