    Normally the tow dollies won't fail, but the installation of the tow vehicle fails...

    Everyone has their own way to do their job, but as pleco652 said that's how I've personally done many of these. Winch the front of it on the deck then set back on the dolly. They almost had it right the second time, but they did at least get the job done. Not the prettiest but it was done

    I get this a lot, I lift the two front wheels up with a spreader on my spec lift then pull the dolly out side ways, put the car down and show the customer how to do it properly.

    Looks like a user error situation. Tow dolly works fine....Looks like the vehicle obviously wasn't strapped AND chained properly, so don't blame it on the dolly....

    Rule number #1. Never get in a pinch point. In this case a crush point. Always avoid putting your body or your limbs in harms way.

    We use this dollies all the time , you have to check and adjust straps every time you stop for gas because they always get loose , budget and Penske have better straps with locks that don’t allow it to come off

      roberto very true if these people who loaded the vehicle had used the safety chain that comes with the U-Haul dolly this wouldn’t happen!

    I only have this happen one time I had a scrap car on my dolly I wasn't Towing it far so why did not fully strap it down I had a tight enough to where it would not come off but when I stopped and went over the front but unlike this guy I got it back on Dolly myself with a floor jack and a steel rim without a tire but the moral of the story is make sure you have everything strapped down correctly lol

    had the same thing happen to my brothers 94 cadillac but we took the floor jack and lifted each side and put blocks under the wheel eventually we got it high enought the car rolled back onto the dolly maybe when loading it i should have stressed the importance of stopping to my brother as we pushed it on the dolly as he sat inside steering it

  • @dennisj.brault4774
    @dennisj.brault4774 7 лет назад +15

    First one needs to have a few pieces of wood, When I towed I always had wood on board. Then you Jack up each tire with a floor Jack. Use the control arm thus lifting the tire and not the body of the jeep. Then put the wood under the tire on both sides of the jeep. Then drive or wench the jeep off the trailer.

    Wow. Still trying to figure out how we end up in this position.
    Did the guy try & load the Jeep on the dolly without the dolly hooked up to a hitch & drive over the tire plate?
    Did he have it properly hooked up & did the Jeep move it self over the tire plate, while hooked up to a hitch, & than after the Jeep moved you dropped the dolly off the hitch?
    I know I rented one of these dolly's last year from U-Haul & moved a 69 El Camino & a 70 Chevelle about 30 miles. We had a couple issues getting situated, but was able to get things worked out. I ended up pulling both by the rear axle up on the dolly. Neither car was operable so what we had to do was use floor jacks, wood, & car stands to left the rear tires up 16" ground clearance, & than position the dolly under the tires, drop the car on the dolly, strap them down & off we went. Took about a total of 5 hours from picking up the dolly to dropping it back off & costs like $60.00. Well worth the money to move a couple of rides that need a lot of work.

      Phil's Midwest Classic Cars i think they just drove it without a car attached to the Jeep, how else could it have traveled two feet past the the wheels

  • @STILTSable
    @STILTSable 6 лет назад +1

    First of all you never should have unhooked the dolly from the car. You grab a chain and hook it to the back of the jeep and pull. I've accidently over shot a vehicle on a dolly several times. grab the axe jack from the back of the jeep and fully collapse it. Place in on the dolly under the jeep. Find a good spot to jack from. Use blocks from the tow trucks to bring the jack as close to the underside of the jeep as possible while fully collapsed. Jack the jeep up high enough to clear the front of the doll. put jeep in reverse and drive slowly. The jack should fall sideways and the jeep should clear the front of the dolly.

      Josh
      I own a towing company and have seen this happen to many times where people try saving money only to spend 5x more. When things go wrong, like trying to tow a full time 4x4 and messing up the trans, transfer case! That’s the reason people should consider having a professional do the job!

      You can, if you remember to pull the rear driveshaft, but who does that?

    • @buildthings79
      @buildthings79 7 лет назад +6

      WonderTwat Sure you can.. you just shift the transfer case into neutral and shift the transmission into neutral too just for good measure. The drive shaft will spin while driving but if its in neutral who cares. This is all if your driving a real 4x4. Not the push button shit on the dash.

    • @stephenhunter70
      @stephenhunter70 7 лет назад +3

      Depends on the transfer case, some do not have a "selectable" neutral. Jeeps included! Not that it matters that one appears to have been driven over the front of the dolly.
