Love this song. I was a drug addict and more when introduced to this song. I felt his pain and his truth in it....loved it ever since. (3 yrs sober and still this song helps me out)
becca my friend, ( i say friend because i dont consider you an enemy) that is awesome. i went sober a month ago, no actually two. lets beat these bastards. my health is failing, and being an infj-a/ empath i get a mental ringer at times. but my friend i do hope youre still on the wagon.
Johnny was an awesome singer and songwriter who never got the recognition or airplay he deserved.he is a legend and should have been in the hall of fame years ago
You and I give him the credit he deserves. And I'm sure Mr. Paycheck would tell us it is all he needs. It's better to be loved by those who are moved and touched by his music than be a megastar. Know why? Because your love and my love for his music means more. So so much more
RIP MR. PAYCHECK........Thank you for this incredible song.....Radio seems to only play TAKE THIS JOB &........, you sang so many beautiful songs.......
Thanks for posting, AND including the lyrics, as well! Brings back memories of 29 years ago this time, when this song came out; I was 17 and BIG into country music, at the time(still am, actually.)You could often find me listening to what used to be "FM Z 107",the former country music station at the time, in my hometown of York,PA. I could go on FOREVER listing country songs that came out when I was in high school, especially ones from 1985-1987(my latter high school years, when I really got into country.)
I had a friend lost him on December 6th he played country music for years his name was Don Kennedy and this was one of his favorite songs we talked all the time and he would tell me I'm listening to the Old Violin again by Johnny Paycheck I miss my friend
As a 9-year suffer of chronic pain, I can relate so much this song. Chronic pain depletes you , both physically and mentally. And the truth that is hard to face is the fact that it will never go away!
I don't say much but I just got to say I was born and raised. n long beach Mississippi. and I lost my my grand dad over a year ago and his name was CB Davis he was a moonshiner and he was the best man u could have ever known so when I here this song it cut me to the bone and I felt like for the people that. new him this is a song to him
My tears don't stop listening to this song. All I think about was a time in my life I really messed my whole family up. I felt so alone and it was the darkest days ever I went trough. It still hunts me for what I done. All I can do now is be so proud I have my family back again and I hope one day I will forgive myself.
This has always been my favorite song, in 2007 the love of my life my first born Kristin Michelle was 17 and in her room burning CDs, she was so upset she said Mom it won't let me put this one on, isaid baby it's fine . One month later she was cruelly taken from this world destroying my life , trying to hold onto something anything I was going through her CD s and I found one with this song on it 14 times! It did work Beautiful, MOMMY MISSES YOU! And now I truelly feel like that violin!
my baby brother was murdered last month.......he had always said he wanted this played at his funeral.....well.it was.....not a dry eye in the house.....RIP BUCKO.....sissy loves you.
So sorry for your loss. I lost a sister to cancer. It feels like part of my past and future is gone. I can't imagine having someone taken like your brother was. I'm truly sorry.
Desmond Doss Jr I love you with all my heart❤️ Even though I have lost you, our memories will always live in my heart. I feel like an Old Violin right now, but I pray someday someone will see my value again
Donald Trump thanks so very much mr.trump. I love my brother so much more then I thought I could before I couldn't see him ' much alone with out flagpole.
Me too. This music was what played on the radio back in the good old days . I was in my twenties back then. I worked hard all day and played hard most of the night. I'll always have those great memories !
T-Mobile Retail. am 22 years old and am a Raper style. but sure this country music 🎼 make a tear from me. Even I sing this song I feel like come from my heart. I love country Music 🎼 👋🇬🇹
A poignant song. Geriatric set can relate to this song. Sometimes we feel like an old violin, ready to be discarded but we show the young set that we age like a fine wine.
Johnny was a great singer and songwriter who never got the airplay or recognition he deserved should have been in the hall of fame years .This is true county music not like the shit you hear today.
I’m a recovering addict with 29 years clean. In 2021 my youngest son and my wife passed away 6 mos apart. I have to say that as alone and lost as I felt when I hit bottom in my addiction it didn’t even come close to the loneliness I feel even now 2 years later. This song comes as close to expressing how I feel as I’ve ever heard.
Noone could write and compose something this deep and beautiful without feeling some equally deep hardships. And to Kaiden Lambert, this song is a family funeral tradition, so i feel you. Rip Johnny Badass Paycheck. BTW, i made an account just to make this comment out of respect
I met him one day. His old pickup truck had broken down on him at a gas station in Goodlettsville, TN. I walked over and asked him if he needed some help. I never let him know I knew who he was. He looked rougher than a night in jail. He said, I don't think so, son, it ought to start here in a minute. I said ok then, I'll be on my way. He said, thank you anyway, I appreciate it. I said well all right then, good luck. I should have said more since I covered a lot of his songs with our band and knew who he was, but I went on.
+Mackenzie Patton That's how I feel and always feel. Those people who have left us still deserve our respects, because they did so much here on earth. May Johnny Paycheck Rest In Peace and have fun in heaven.
Love this song. I was a drug addict and more when introduced to this song. I felt his pain and his truth in it....loved it ever since. (3 yrs sober and still this song helps me out)

Shame this man never got the full credit he deserved. He was a giant in country music. Same tier with Cash, Jones, Jennings and Haggard.
You and I give him the credit he deserves. And I'm sure Mr. Paycheck would tell us it is all he needs. It's better to be loved by those who are moved and touched by his music than be a megastar. Know why? Because your love and my love for his music means more. So so much more

We played this song at my grandpas funeral. He would turn this song up loud in his car and tell everyone to be quiet so he could sing it.

+Mackenzie Patton That's how I feel and always feel. Those people who have left us still deserve our respects, because they did so much here on earth. May Johnny Paycheck Rest In Peace and have fun in heaven.
