    I love how in depth you explain things. The thing I find with other tutorials they tell you what buttons to press so your simulation looks like theirs. But with this you're explaining what things do, and why you would do it, which is great because that makes this so applicable to any smoke simulation. Thank you for a brilliant tutorial!

      Thanks for taking the time to leave this nice feedback my friend! It's funny that you mentioned this because I'm working on a new tutorial, similar to this one, but specific to a car doing a burnout on pavement and I thought, "I'm not going to ramble so much on this new one. I think it needs to be more concise and to the point." So, it was really nice to hear you say that you appreciated the in-depth explanations. I had just been second guessing this style of tutorial the day before you left this comment. The new one will still be an improvement over this one but I won't shy away from explaining the "why" behind the settings. Thanks again brother and keep up the great work on your channel. I like what you guys are doing!

    how do you get it to not have gaps between frames of emission so it blends them together?

    • @Smooth_Shading
      @Smooth_Shading  Год назад +1

      Try increasing the Sampling Substeps in the emitter settings. Depending on how fast your car is moving, that value will need to be increased accordingly. Start with a Sampling Substeps value of 2 or 3 and see if that helps. Let me know how that works out and if you have any other questions.

    • @Smooth_Shading
      @Smooth_Shading  Год назад

      Yes, I'm a big fan of RBC. I'm looking forward to using it in future projects. On my PC it works best with a low poly mesh but then I parent the dense models from Transportation to the low poly mesh, make the low poly mesh invisible in renders and the dense model mimics the physics behavior of the low poly mesh. Works out perfectly.

    • @Smooth_Shading

      I think you might be confused by the pinned properties panel to the right of the 3D viewport, showing the domain settings. If you go back to 4:44, the video explains the reason behind it. If the denoising leaves it blotchy looking, try 48 samples. I rarely render above 64 samples and my PC is pretty modest. Render times are usually around 5-7 min per frame. Sometimes my animations look a little shimmery because of the lower samples and denoising but that's the trade-off for the render times. You'll find the sweet spot. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
      You can make the body of the car a smoke collision object in the physics settings for the car body. If your car body mesh is pretty high-poly though, you'll probably want to make a low-poly version of it either with the decimate modifier or make a simplified version of it using basic modeling techniques. After you set it as a collision object, you may want to turn off it's visibility in rendering if any parts of it are visible. The smoke sim will naturally take longer to calculate/bake with a collision object involved, especially if it's high-poly. That should do the trick. Thanks for asking about this and I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for the feedback. I hope your animation turns out great!
