Hi amazing video bro i needed some help as soon as i do the quick effects it turns into a wireframe any idea why
Hey, thanks for the compliment! I'll be glad to help. Which object turns into a wireframe?
A very awesome tutorial! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I'm glad it was helpful. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I hope your project turns out well!
What happened in the end?
The main character saw the faceling girl, floating in the room above the pool, and was so frightened, he fell down and dropped the camera. Then he began pounding on the door in a desperate attempt to get out of there before he lost his last shred of sanity. The poolroom is the faceling girl's domain and she toys with any who enter her space, feeding off their fear and screams. Her picture is just outside the door before the vertical pool, but our character doesn't realize the significance when he enters. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! I am working on Part 3 in between life and other projects, but it will be released at some point. Have a great day!
@@Smooth_Shading OK thank you
What a superb video and explanation..Ideally if you can make a short video and summarize it
Thank you so much, I appreciate that. I agree, a shorter video summarizing the key points of the process would be great for people who don't need the longer, detailed version. I've thought about doing that. One of these days, I probably will. I'm glad you checked out the tutorial and took the time to leave a compliment and feedback. Whatever you're working on, I hope it comes out great!
how did we go from having the emiters as a flow fluid to a domain gas?
I think you might be confused by the pinned properties panel to the right of the 3D viewport, showing the domain settings. If you go back to 4:44, the video explains the reason behind it. Hopefully, if I understood your question correctly, that will help. Please let me know if it does/doesn't and if you have any other questions. Good luck with your project, I hope it turns out well.
you are spot on, thanks so much for the reply!! @@Smooth_Shading

Part 3 is in the works and will come out... eventually. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate you checking this out!
This is amazing! Wanna know how you made the dirt sticking to the car, looks so believable.
Thank you very much! I appreciate you checking it out and leaving a comment. I used a mask node I found on a channel called Wayward Art Company and modified it to accumulate a dirt texture on the lower portion of the meshes. It's driven by keyframes that increase a factor in the node setup for the z value, that's what makes it rise up the meshes. I don't know if I put that in the description or not. I'm gonna check and add it if I didn't because that channel definitely deserves credit for the mask node setup. They have a ton of great content. Thanks again for the comment, my friend!

I guess I learned parenting flow emitters to armature bones makes weird things happen lol. Or at least it seems to be the case. Did what you did and its working thanks :)
Nice! I'm glad I could help and it worked out for you. I parented a physics force to a domain once and things got really wonky. Thanks for the comment. Keep up the great work!

Bro... Can i animate this in my laptop.? (Intel 7..16 ram.. 4 graphics )
Yes, I think so. My desktop has less ram than that. Just be patient with the render time per frame.
youtube force ads is shoving down our throats now
Yeah, my channel is not even monetized yet and I noticed that when revisiting this video the other day. It stinks that the channel owner has no control over it.
when I duplicate using shift d I get 2 cylinders instead of one
You might be duplicating in Object Mode. Doing so would create a second object. Try duplicating in Edit Mode. Let me know if that works.

@@Smooth_Shading Anytime. If it makes sense to you and you have time, I´d love to see more tuts like the tyre smoke one you did a while back. I know these things take lot of time to produce, so it´s just a thought :)
@@lassebauer I would love to do more car animation tutorials and I do have a few brewing in the background, but you're right, they do take time. I always appreciate your input. I was really impressed when I saw the automotive art you create. It's really cool, a great visual style. So your input is particularly meaningful, as it comes from an artist whose work I admire. My mind works much faster than my modest PC and the limited amount of spare time I have makes it challenging to produce all the content I envision. But, hopefully in the near future I will be able to get some cool car-related stuff out there. Thanks again for your feedback, my friend.

Awesome! Great work my friend. I love it! Let me give you a WOO: WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! 😃
Thank you, my friend! First bit of content in a while. Got a few things in the hopper and been doing some course work but it's slow going. My channel hemorrhaged all the watch hours from our backrooms video. But I'm still grinding. We'll get it back. Wooo!
good work 👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks, brother!
Freaky! 😬 love the sounds and the heartbeat until the end! Very nice work!
Thank you! The sound was fun to do.
Thanks for the great tutorial. So, I'm doing a different project where I need tire smoke during drift. But there's an issue which I'm unable to resolve. So, I baked the smoke sim in openvdb file and when I import it back, the location of the imported openvdb file seems to be shifted to somewhere else and no matter what, I'm unable to align it with the car's tires. I have applied scale, location and rotation of the smoke domain before baking the smoke. Can you help me how to fix this? (Blender 3.5)
Thanks for the positive comment. You may be able to parent the vdb smoke to an empty. Positioning the empty near the spot where the smoke is generated from might help manipulate it better. Then you can move and rotate the empty to control the smoke. If the empty is patented to the car body then it should also follow the movement of the car during the drift. Let me know if that works or not.
@@Smooth_Shading That sounds good. Will definitely let you know here if it works :) Thanks for your suggestion 🙏
@@Smooth_Shading UPDATE : Tried out the Empty method and it proved to be more of a problem than a solution because as my car is drifting and rotating, the smoke also gets rotated and I had to put keyframes everywhere to keep it sane. Also, because of the adaptive domain, the scale and location of the smoke also keeps on changing. So, the closest "fix" I could do is to turn off adaptive domain. The baked smoke sim was relatively easier to handle. I just had to manually fix the location of the smoke by keyframing it. the scale and rotation stays stable. I'm still looking for a better and more precise fix though.
@@ibodhi If you import the saved vdb file, you don't need the domain anymore, I don't think. If you keep the domain in the scene and bake the smoke sim, it should just follow the emitters that are patented to the tires. I did another tutorial on tire dust that deals with a larger domain, maybe something from that tutorial will help. It can be challenging and frustrating. Sometimes, you might want to delete the domain and emitters and start over. I'll help as much as I can. Keep me posted. Don't give up, brother.
@@Smooth_Shading Yeah, I don't use the domain after finishing the bake. What I meant was if you're baking the smoke using adaptive domain, then the baked vdb after importing is difficult to keep track of. That's why I found the result of the baked smoke when I turned of adaptive domain much better even though it still need adjustments. And I have deleted the domain and started over so many times that I lost count of. I'm trying different settings. Definitely won't give up, will keep trying till I get the end result! And thanks a lot for your helpful suggestions. Can't thank you enough :)
Puedes hacer tutorial de polvo hacia abajo y que se hace grande por favor en mi idioma no hay tutoriales tan buenos como los tuyos!
Thank you for the compliment I really appreciate it! I'm not familiar with the term dust down, I looked it up on Google, but I'm still not sure if I understand what you mean. Tell me more, please.
how do u make the animation ?
Someday I'll do a tutorial on the animation. Basically, use Rigacar. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@Smooth_Shading i meant the car having the handbrake and the rear wheels spinning without the front wheels moving, how do u animate that with rig a car addon?
@@VotechsDigital Use the main rig control to move the car forward just a little. Use the rear end control to drift the rear to either side slightly. Use the rear wheels control to rotate the wheels independently. Keyframe all of them separately to get your desired result. Does that help?
@@VotechsDigital Also use the rear suspension control to squat the rear to help reflect the torque during the wheel spin. And then, bring the suspension back up when the wheel stops.
great tut man, will use it with the new add on - RBC. You know you sound like Christian Slater!
Thanks for the feedback, brother. I really appreciate it. I hope your project comes out great. Someone said I sounded like Matthew Broderick once. Christian Slater too now! I'll take it. They're both cool in my book.
have you tried RBC yet, works well with transportation?
Yes, I'm a big fan of RBC. I'm looking forward to using it in future projects. On my PC it works best with a low poly mesh but then I parent the dense models from Transportation to the low poly mesh, make the low poly mesh invisible in renders and the dense model mimics the physics behavior of the low poly mesh. Works out perfectly.
On this one, no collision too ?
No, though you can do a simplified version of the back portion of the car, make it invisible to the camera, set it as a collision object, and parent it to the car body. The smoke will behave more realistically around it but the physics bake time is longer.
No collision object ?
Not in this case, no. Where did you think there might be one, for the ground, or the car body?
@@Smooth_Shading No just asking
@@mica.motion Well, thanks for checking out the video and commenting. If you ever need any help or have other questions, let me know.

Thank you for watching and commenting! I'm working on ideas for a car racing tutorial. Perhaps in the near future!
In the generator, can we replace the smoke with fire and smoke to make it look like fire is coming out of the wheels when they are spinning?
Absolutely. Play around until you find the right settings for the fire and I'm sure it will look pretty awesome! Let me know how it works out.

Can you explain how you animate the wheels them selvs is this a rigacar on a path? or did you manually animate?
This is Rigacar but the wheels are animated using the wheel controls that are part of Rigacar as opposed to just letting them rotate on their own based on the movement of the main control. Does that help? Let me know if you have any other questions.
