I would make the string burn as long as I want to but without damaging it and then make it suddenly vanish, apperar around the spectators arm and revealing something.
I would love to do a version of the Indian rope trick by having the string stand vertically solid upwards with an object tied at the top. Then ( as if by magic ) the object disappears and reapears somewhere else. Not sure if there is an actual trick like this though. You are amazing Jay and I would love to get back into magic someday ( my dad was in the Magic Circle in the UK ) when I have a bit more time
If I were to perform magic with just a piece of string, I would wanna find a way to make it seemingly grow in my hands without any other string added to it or turn string into a deck of cards. I haven't seen either effect before so it would be interesting to perform.
This is a gem. I've fooled some of my most magic-wise friends with this. It's all about making the two crossing actions look just the same; no delay when you steal the ring with the second one. Nice and smooth; not rushed, not slow, just steady and even. That way it's a complete fooler. Thanks, Jay!
You're an OUTSTANDING teacher of magic tricks! I love how there's several options for the same trick! it would be crazy if the ring was tied in a knot on a piece of string
I do a lot of slide of hand tricks like this just for fun. I have to say, you explained how and why it works so well better than anyone else could. Thanks for posting.
I am a 72 year man interested in magic, I have done a few little bit of self working tricks. But my hands are old not as agile as were before. But I love the tricks you do and the way you explain thim! Thanks
Great move taught to me in 1982 at the Desert Magic Seminar by a gentleman named John Corey. (Rip) thanks Jay your brought back a memory of an old magic friend! Thanks brother 🙏
Very interesting. My grandfather worked on the same stage as Houdini back in the days of Vaudeville. I grew up with "magic" and in school performed on stage during variety shows. I haven't done it in over 50 years, pretty much had forgotten about magic. But you piqued my interest in it again. Thanks. I'm definitely subscribing to your channel.
Wonderful, l love you bringing pleasure to all who are willing to watch, and especially how you are variety and new ideas. To me you are the best magician in the world because you share not only the joy of the performance, and the principles, but also inspire people to learn and go even deeper into making life amazing. True string theory 😄. String standing on soda pop would be a great idea.
Thanks, this matches perfectly as a follow-up prestigio for my favourite trick where I make a knot through the fourth dimension to get a ring on a cord.
I've been working on Troy Hoosier's Charming Chinese Challenge and have been struggling with the Clifton ring move but I think this will help a lot thanks Jay your awsome!!!
I just love the tuition and explanation of the emotional value towards an audience. It’s just one trick, but your audience will speak of their experience for years.
I came to view this again 2 months later, I forgot how it was done and was re-amazed of how good you do the trick, I couldn't figure it out again, it's so clever that you can drive a person crazy because it's so hard to figure out on your own! Thanks Jay!
Anything with strong?I would like to show a piece of string, thread something, such as a ring or hoop on the string, then with a magic gesture, cause the string to become rigid(like a vertical pole)and then for the ring to magically climb up the string(ala Indian rope trick)and possibly spring off the top of the string and be caught in your hand.It would be most effective if it were a borrowed ring or bangle etc)That could be a great trick especially if performed seemingly as an impromptu routine for only a few people.Love your stuff,Bob,so keep them coming!
Sankey, you are amazing and are helping my children learn dexterity thru magic. I would to see the string / ring trick in reverse where the ring returns to the string.
In my trick I would wind a fairly long length of string twice around my neck and then get volunteers to hold each end. I would then cover the string around my neck with a scarf and then tell the volunteers to slowly but steadily pull the string. When it becomes fully tight, I would take a couple of steps back, free from the string, leaving the scarf hanging on the center of the string.
Thanks for the attribution. I learned it from Charlie Miller in the old Geniis. Also I like your ring reveal. Not many people improve on Charlie Miller
just starting out in magic for a little fun only know 1 trick atm but if i could do any trick with the string i would love to do one where it takes place in the spectator hands it just seems more powerful that way
Fantastic! You have got me for life now! Now, how is the trick performed on the penn and teller show where the rope is cut many times and still remains intact. John from Oz
There's this trick using rope(a little thicker than string) but if you tie knots in a certain way and cut them, the rope stays together, fuses back together- it's really cool!!
I'm a computer and network technician by trade, so if I had supernatural powers, the string trick I would do (I'm assuming "rope" could qualify as string) would definitely be the Professor's Nightmare. You always run into a situation where a cable is way too long or just too short. It'd be handy to be able to take 1 long cable, cut it into 1/3's and end up with 3 equal lengths of cable. If rope doesn't meet the definition of string for the sweepstakes, then my string trick would be self-tying shoe laces. I mean, I work IT for a school system, so....mindblowing meets practical yet again :)
ALWAYS love watching you work!!I would like to take two pieces of string and through a series of twists a loops make one piece. I would call this Kinetic Neural Object Transposition or KNOT for short.
Smooth hands as usual. I would wave the string vertically, it turns to smoke, hands away. Then grabbing the top of the smoke , a little Shake and we have a Gold necklace
Awesome. I love this stuff and you make it look so easy, but in reality, it's really not. Because you are no amateur, if you think so, you would be mistaking. Practise is the keyword and it's so worth it. Nothing is better than seeing the look in peoples face when they don't understand what is happening at all. Thanks.
PS: Why are we doing the wave over the fist or say stuff like Abra Cadabra? I heard it's from back in those days when the priests held services in Latin, and they said something very similar in Latin while doing "priest stuff" and people didn't understand it and it became something one said when doing something "magical".

Very clear explanation
I would make the string burn as long as I want to but without damaging it and then make it suddenly vanish, apperar around the spectators arm and revealing something.
I’d make the string go in 1 ear 👂, out my nose 👃, back in my nose and the out my other ear 👂 😳 ... kinda gross huh 🤔

Great trick well explained and great options
Excellent routine options! LOVE the ZIP TIE idea. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Very cool, have never done a magic trick and this one looks like I could pull it off! The cut string and then not cut string has always got me. HOW!

Good trick I Going to add this to my repertoire
Glad to hear it. Have FUN.
Always Great! Thank YOU!
Best rope and Ring trick🔥🔥🔥
I love this trick. I used a piece of my wife's yarn. Smoothing it out looks natural.

Thanks for sharing Jay, this is brilliant and so effective. I think I’d try some string magic doing a cut and restore, maybe using colours too. 👍🏻
Vraiment vraiment bon
Great Tutorial,
When can we get Killer Key again ?
