I have held both watches side by side, even the leather-strap versions. In both cases, I have found the EFR-S107D to be just a little bit more elegant (and strikingly thin!) and have slightly better build quality. More subjectively, I think the design of the challenger is more distinctive and higher-class (even though it's clearly Royal Oak-inspired), while the champ is too classic. Not that there's anything wrong with that but, when compared to the EFR-S107D, it's almost mundane.
I can definitely see that. The Champ is pretty mundane, and the challenger is a very sleek design. The thinness is pretty mind-blowing.
Better build quality is visible even here in the video.
Great review 👍. I agree with your review. I wouldn't have known this much about the edifice watches, without your review. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Yes, they don't seem to get much coverage on RUclips, so I think I will just keep reviewing them :)
I have the leather strap version of the challenger (EFR-S107L-1AVUEF) and for me this wins hands down... The sapphire crystal is the added bonus!! Not bothered by the screw down crown.... If I was going diving I would use a proper diver!!
Fair enough. I totally agree about screw down crowns.
great review, i was considering one of those watch
I really like the Casio Edifice line, happy hunting :)
Love these type of videos. I would have given a star to the Champ on WR because of the screw down crown. Both watches are amazing and fantastic value for the money.
Thanks, yes screw down crown is a very popular feature!
i agree
The efv100d also looks really good on other straps I have the smaller version and think it looks great on an admiralty grey nato
I haven't tried it on anything but the stock bracelet, but I really should!
I used a combination of Scotchbrite pads to give the center links of my EFV-100 (blue dial variant) a nice brushed finish. Quick and easy "upgrade".
I have seen people do this. I might just have to try that, thank you for the suggestion!
nice u compared these. i have the white version of the EFV and i love it... the hands really are something special. i was looking at the sapphire one... to be honest I really dig the screw down crown on the EFV though.
The EFV is definitely something special, I bet the white dial looks killer. The Sapphire one is nice too, though.
Çok güzel bir inceleme. Teşekkür ederim.🙏🙏
Rica ederim, izlediğiniz için teşekkürler! (from google translate)
I have the efv-110 and the two micro-adjust holes makes it too tight or else too loose. The crystal has also picked up some scratches. It’s a good watch but the challenger is better.
Yes, I don't understand why every clasp does have a minimum of 4 micro positions. Bummer it got scratched, sapphire crystal is really nice for that reason.
Casio needs to listen to all of these reviews. This is a great watch but unanimously everyone says the Lume is lacking. How much would it cost to get the Lume quality improved? Really?
Totally agree, it can't be that expensive to add a few layers of lume.
Dirty cheap. Look what chinese doing with replicas. BG9W lume, sapphire... for 150$ and below... And thats for automatic watches...
Nice explanation
Love from Tamilnadu (India)
You are most welcome :) Love from USA
efv 100 D is elegant, simple and clear in a way I can't explain. For example, I like to watching this watch.
It definitely has an elegance to it I agree! It’s such a solid design overall
I like the hands on the S107D. I find arrow shaped hands distracting, and almost too playful. The white stripe on the S107D hands is also a nice touch.
Fair enough! Agree on the white stripe, makes the watch easier to read overall!
for me, i work in an enviroment where a watch needs to be a tool watch. and the polished bezel will scratch so fast and the crystal aswell. thats whats holding me back. love the dial though
That makes sense! It is definitely a scratch magnet, and I know mineral glass is a no go for many people for the same reason :)
more comparison are always interesting 👍😀
Glad you like them!
How about the EFR-S108D? This one looks to have all the benefits plus a slightly smaller case size. The only potential downside I see is the integrated bracelet (not being able to switch it with your own strap).
I did a review of that one :)
ruclips.net/video/VVr9aDA1kS0/видео.html
I would change the straps to brown leather on both of them so would be nice to see that. On blue dial EFV, it would suit nice.
Yes, straps are good alternatives to the bracelets on these!
The non sapphire watch, If you have bought this watch has I have I recommend buying Lusee watch screen protector from Amazon (uk).. I brought 30mm and it fits the watch face perfectly without overlapping the watch face which will prevent it getting caught and coming off.
Oh thank you for the good tip!
You could take a look at the Casio EFR S108d, it's kinda in between these two. :)
(The 107 seems inspired by the Nautilus, and the 108 by the Royal Oak, I think.)
I have one on the way as the next challenger :)
@@JustWatches1 Nice! Subscribed so I don't miss it. :)
@@madmaniaq Wonderful, welcome aboard
Good vid
Thank you :)
EFV 100d one of the best looking watches ever. Such an aesthetically pleasing watch.
Agree, one of the best watches, especially when you consider the price.
silly question. do you think the screws on the bezel are real?
now I wish I still had it so I could test them. I don't know!
A close but fair result I feel. If you are going to go into the champion's back yard to fight for the title, you really have to make sure you don't leave it to the hometown judge's scorecard, and instead win by knockout or emphatic points victory. I was however deeply troubled by the fact that when both watches were (equally) good on a particular aspect, and a tie was declared, neither watch received a much deserved star and were both just awarded a miserable little line. Obviously for a weak feature, such as the lame lume, both watches deserved no more than a miserable little line. This wouldn't have effected the outcome but I believe both watches would themselves be happier with my preferred approach, and I commend it to you for future world championship bouts.
I will definitely take this into consideration and update the scoring system. I agree, a more spectacular win would have been preferred! I will look for another challenger, and bring another showdown soon. Thank you for watching and the fun feedback :)
Both nice watches, but i would prefer s107d.
Thank you, yes a tough call for sure!
The EFR has a Japanese Seiko quartz movement btw .Dunno about the EFV haven't seen that opened up.
Oh, I didn't realize that, thanks!
From what I’ve read, Edifices have Miyota (Citizen) movements. Don’t know if thats still the case with the EFR.
Good content
Thanks :)
This page is underated
Thank you :)
They should make more of these because no one seems to sell them.
Agree, it always surprises me when a run away hit isn't produced to meet demand. Invicta made the same mistake with the 1953.
And they need to improve the Lume
On the versus, champion vs EFR-S108D, you gave point to 108 for movement, because is silent, and 100D it's not. So the winner is EFR-S107.
Absolutely correct, actually he champion deserves a star for the screwed crown...
That's fair. I know screw-down crowns are very popular and do serve an important function!
Decorative screws are a turn off. I have the other one; my main criticism is that the lume is poor. Light scratches in the glass can be polished out with wet-and-dry paper and finish with cerium oxide.
Interesting, I have never heard about cerium oxide trick. Yes, I wish they would improve the lume, I would pay more for that too!
@@JustWatches1 It is the pink powder used by dentists. Some silver cleaners include it. Diamantine works as well. Start with 400 grade wet and dry to get all the scratches out, then go to 600 and then 1200 before finishing with the powder.
@@physiocrat7143 Its hard to polish scratches on glass even with that powder.
I buy an Casio edifice efr-s108d from online not an authorized shop so I didn't get the official warranty now i have some doubt that my watch is not a original one i found something is suspicious outside box there was nothing mentioned about any information inside box there was no user manual or card specifically for this watch there was for another model and in the watch bracelet clasp are not shinning as other, the date are showing in white in my black dial watch. I bought it for around 58 dollar do you think it's a copy product?
I'm not sure, that is a bit strange. I didn't realize there were fakes of this watch. Could you post some picture on imgur or something, I could take a look!
@@JustWatches1 brother please take a look at the Instagram of your this channel i send some photos
Casio should make more watches, especially from Edifice, collection from 38-39-40mm range.... Wish that EFR is 39-40mm. EFV with blue dial is nice.
I know :( I don't know why they don't make more watches in this size range!!
¿Cual recomiendas más de los dos?
Prefiero el EFV-100D, pero ambos son geniales
I enjoy looking at your watches. Do you still enjoy wearing this nice watch?
The EFV-100D is still a favorite in the collection :)
I like the champion too, enough that I think I will upgrade to sapphire when I get a scratch or two
That would be a great upgrade, I have never switch out a crystal, but maybe I should give it a try!
@@JustWatches1 it is really easy with a $20 watch press.
Would take the 100d. Screw down nob is good also the smsller size. I have big wrists but the big divers style looks stupid. Also very important and this is a must in any assesment is how easy (or not) a jacket ie. Motorcycle type can be removed. Snagging jacket cuffs can break bracelet and gone is watch....
Ah interesting observation about the jacket, would have never thought about that! Thank you for watching :)
Is it worth owning both watches in my collection?
If you think you would wear them both, maybe use them for different occasions? Sure why not :)
What's difference between EFV-100D and EFV-110D
The 110 is the smaller version, I believe it is 35 or 36mm in diameter.
Only room for one of these in your collection? Are you nuts ?Keep the both .Theyre both excellent for their respective prices .
Agree, but to continue to get stuff for the channel, I have to sell :P
I’ve got them both. Very cheap
You should challenge the EFR-S108D-1AV
Yes, I want to! Waiting for that one to be available from a vendor I recognize and then I will get it for the next challenge round!
Of course the EFV-100D was going to win, it has been my daily watch since the moment I got it, it even took the place of my way more expensives swiss pieces and even made me question myself on why did I spend that much into other watches when I could just gotten this since the beginning haha
Exactly! The EFV-100D has made me question the entire hobby. Alas, I can't quite free myself of the watch bug :)
@@JustWatches1 Nobody can't my friend haha, I'm still having that desire of a new watch everyday even tho I don't need one atm :(
if the lume and the chaink links were same, would you still say so .prob the only caveat on 107 is those two
Thanks ..out of stock
Oh yeah, I noticed the black dial is gone now, but I have a feeling they will be making more, so keep hunting :)
I'm a huge screw down crown kind a guy, howeverrrrr, mineral glass is just soooo shit, with the few watches i had with it, it scrathed within a week, so I would definitely prefer the one with sapphire crystal. I usually wouldn't even consider a casio but both models look great for the price of a few beers. Might pick them up.
Sapphire is nice because you don't really have to worry about it. There is also a new Sapphire one that is a bit smaller, I sort of want to get it to check out for the channel, just waiting for a local seller. It is the EFR-S108D-1AVUEF. You can't go wrong with either of these however.
@@JustWatches1 Great mate👍 Personally I have 8 inch wrists so any smaller is a no go for me...elas
@Dharmic Science haha just regular Heineken mate. The better question would be...what's my definition of a few....😂👍
Bro do a review of Casio efs-s570dc please!
I'm tempted to check out the nicer Casio Edifice models I will add that one to my watchlist :)
@@JustWatches1 there's no proper review for that in RUclips.
@@hjoseph3802 noted :)
Challenger lost at first hurdle for me for having snap-on caseback
I am not a fan of snap-on casebacks, agreed!
plus lack of lume
Same, snap-on case is kind of a non starter for me. I mean comparing these two watches it comes down to where you want your scratches to be... on the back of the challenger trying to pry the case off, or on the front of the champ with the mineral glass. Also the fragility of sapphire means you risk shattering the glass trying to press the case back on after battery swaps. The challenger is a sexy watch for sure but with the screwdown case, crown and versatile styling the champ is hard to beat.
@@nuhuh9893 screw down crown and the screwdown case are my redline. stars goes to champion.
Edifice muy bonito
Esto es cierto :)
Watch on 1.25X speed
I watch almost everything on RUclips on 1.5x speed, it definitely helps, including with my own content :P
the challenger all the way :D
Fair enough :)
The Challenger was robbed!
Haha, fair enough! They are both great, but I had to eliminate one :)
Those screws are a deal breaker to me.
Fair enough!
I got both and they are so cheap, its not worth to sell one of those watches..
Yeah it is a lot of work for very little return to sell a watch at this price point.
Great versus. But have you seen that Casio made a combination of both for you? Check EFR-S108D :)
Oh interesting! 40mm I see. I also like that gold second hand. Maybe this will be the next challenger. I was also looking at the EFV-590D-2AVCR potentially.
@@JustWatches1 590D also looks like a nice piece, but does not have the simpleness of S108D. not possible to get in my country (Turkey) for the moment but I'll be watching around :)
@@korkmaztaylan Same, I see it on one seller's site but it is overseas. Might way for a closer vendor to show up.
None.... Need one with solar charge
I've been eyeing the EFSS570D-1A, which looks really good and has solar charge.
when u waering suit challenger will be the winner.
Fair enough :)
efv100d never liked those fake screws
Fair enough :)
There is no point in a Watch Case (Bezel) with imitation and only decorative screws.
It is pretty silly, but it doesn't bother me :)
The 'champion' looks WAY bigger on your wrist....so biased! 😀
Yes, I think I showed a bit of bias in this and the other showdowns. Not the most serious comparison :)
The challenger screwed itself 😏
I see what you did there 😆
Very predictable. The result was already decided before the competition.
I know :( Casio needs to make a real threat
The moment you realize something is terribly wrong with our society is the moment you only see "movement" on the 8th position of comparison.
Isn't the whole purpose of a watch to tell *accurate* time in the most convenient way?
To be honest, neither of these are capable of doing this to the full extent, although both look cool. I own EFR-S107D (I call it "wannabe-Oceanus") but I got pissed off with the fact I had to manually move the date forward at the end of month, especially February, as well as the inevitability of replacing the battery, so I ordered a real Oceanus (OCW-T200S) from Japan just to feel in the 21st century again.
The Oceanus looks like one heck of a watch! It is funny that we obsess over this antiquated technology that is less accurate than the atomic time we have on our phones. Still, something about a mechanical movement is romantic. Enjoy the OCW-T200S!
