Sapphire is great, but the proprietary lug width kills it for me. I don't like metal bracelets and always change them to something else - a textile, nylon or silicone straps. You can upgrade the 100D with a sapphire crystal when the mineral one scratches, but you can't change lug width on the 108D. Both great watches for the price though. As I learned recently, there's also a version of the 100D with sapphire crystal, but it's for the Asian market only. The model range is EFB-107D. PS: Oh, it was actually mentioned in the comments under this video, seems that's where I read it first then :D
EFR-S108D for me. As a bracelet guy, it just looks so much better, I also love how thin it is and the smaller case size, as well as the reassurance of the sapphire crystal.
Great head to head review! the 108D looks so good on the wrist, the brushing on the bracelet, the angles of the case, the black date wheel, it's sharp, slim and highly legible. Thank you for pointing out about the white finish on the hands, I couldn't tell from pictures whether it was silver or white. The 100D deserves the win in my opinion, it looks like the ultimate go anywhere do anything watch; super versatile, screwdown case and crown for water resist, and easy to change straps to suit the occasion.
I always love a good head to head watch showdown! Well done! I like the case shape and design of the “challenger” and of course prefer the sapphire crystal! The 16mm lug opening you mentioned at the end was very unfortunate! This is a toss up for me! Great video!
I have both, and don't have to choose. However if compelled to choose I would have the challenger as it is so much slimmer than the (previous) champion. The king is dead, long live the king.
EFR S108D just looks so much better to me. I love how the bracelet ends match the lug width. I like the gold color seconds hand and you can't go wrong with a sapphire crystal. The bezel shape gives it an attractive look as well.
Nice showdown! From the usual front view photos on websites, I never realized how nice the side cases of these Edifices are. Much more compelling than the usual slab-sided ones IMO. I wish they still made the EF-503 for you to pick up, it’s a beautiful Edifice.
It's surprising how bad most stock sales photos are. I want them to make more edifice models like this but nothing new like this has come out for a while ☹
Love your comparison of these... I agree with you... But, I would always pick sapphire over mineral... Mineral will always scratch.... After a month or two you would wish you had the sapphire one...
I have 7 watches with mineral crystal, one of which I wore to school back in 2004 a cheapo Sekonda that cost me £15 and the mineral crystal to this day is pristine with no scratches. The chrome plated case has peeled a bit around the edges from sweat though and the crown has now peeled back to bare brass. Only one of those watches has a scratch; my Seiko 5 SNK809. Really I'm sure sapphire is nice and all but mineral has served me well, I don't understand why people hate on it so much... maybe be more careful with your watch? :D
I’ve the current challenger (108) with a blue dial and ex-challenger (140). 108 is my favorite of the two and it is not subdued and its sunburst is quite prominent.
Hello I love to buy this casio edifice 108 d Is it safe to order online from Mumbai India If yes then plz send me the link for order to my self plz thanks 😊
Nice comparison and I agree with your choice. The champ looks really good in that barton strap. Do you have a link for the strap please? Sapphire cystal and a better lume would elevate the champ even more. Casio are always compelling with their budget time pieces for me!
I would love if the champ had sapphire crystal and better lume, and would be happy to pay for a version that did! Here is the link for the baron strap: shorturl.at/jBLQ4
Очень нравятся мне Casio efv 100L, всё в них прекрасно, и даже можно легко поменять стальной браслет на кожаный ремешок, но очень сильно всё портит - это минеральное стекло!!! ну почему casio не сделать на них сапфир???
@@JustWatches1 Oh well. What would be your verdict of the two? I like the looks of the 107 (love the emerald cues) but prefer the size of the 108. (If only we could all design our own watches, am I right?) Greetings from Mexico!
Casio. Perhaps the most underrated watch company in the world. I have a Casio that has been running accurately for 20 years. I have had Seiko watches fail in 7 years. Timex in 2 years. My much loved Lorus only lasted 5.
Definitely prefer the form of the Challenger. It would be brilliant if they put the hands of the champion on the challenger. Would make for a real Tudor North Flag lookalike
Loved S108D over 100D initially, but the more I saw them both, I am liking the 100D more. The 100D have a way better second hand alignment, I like the date window more on it, and the 108D's side view looks weird to me. But the presence of sapphire crystal is epic! Moreover the watch is barely available now.
Everybody loves sunburst dials. I don't understand why there aren't more watches made with good sunburst dials. And they can be cheap - i have a watch costing 10 dollars with epic sunburst - Sonata 77083SL06W
I like everything about the challenger except the integrated end links of the bracelet It's next to impossible to replace the bracelet with a different strap, you are basically stuck with the bracelet that comes with it Which wouldn't be that big a problem if it comes with a quality bracelet, instead of this jangly low quality folded metal bracelet As it is I wanted to like the challenger but found that I just can't get over the bracelet. I returned mine within a few days of getting it. RIP
Casio, Casio..I have the ' champion ' in the smaller size ( good dial colour choices). All it needs is sapphire really. The challenger just needs regular lugs..one can't have both! I got an Oceanus before . I adore it but the integrated bracelet ( & it's pins) still drives me mad - never again.
Integrated bracelet's are risky because if you don't like them, you are pretty much out of luck. The challenger with regular lugs would do it for me for sure! The Oceanus looks beautiful btw.
I know it's expensive, but please go high end next time: EQB-1100XDB-2AER EDIT: I found a worthy contender at the price of these two! EFR-S567D-1AVUEF In Germany it's at 90 Euros right now, so even cheaper than these
I do want to try a high end edifice soon. I have my next one coming, maybe next week or the following we will get the review. I will keep the EFR-S567D-1AVUEF on the short list.
I wish they just put a sapphire crystal on the EFV-100D , it would be almost perfect then
That is the dream. I should see about installing one myself.
So true, Im gonna buy one anyway but I'd literary pay twice the price fo sapphire
Actually there is a sapphire crystal version with model code EFB-107L but only available in Asian market as I see.
@@korkmaztaylan there is but i think that efr s108d is better overall and also has sapphire
Here is the link but how to purchase this beauty? www.casio.com.cn/wat/edifice/EFB-107D-1AVUPR/index.html
I think it was a biased win. Sapphire crystal all day baby! And that casioak style case is unique. It's cool though, good video.

@@JustWatches1 I have found and after market solid link bracelet that could potentially fit the S108D, but I haven't had a chance to try fitting it.

You are welcome, thanks for watching!

Nice, I bet the blue 108 is beautiful!
Challenger! The design is so unique. I really like my EFV-100 (the blue dial) but the 108 is just so interesting looking.
The case is really cool! And I love how thin it is, makes it super comfortable.
Great video. For me, both are winners 👍😉
I can agree with that, thanks for watching :)
I want the 100D but with solar, Bluetooth and sapphire. Any thoughts?
any chance of a review for the casio mtp-s120? there is only one video on it online and it seems like a great affordable solar watch..
I'll add it to my list and see if I can get one :)
So is it impossible to change the bracelet on the efr?
Possibly, but you would need a conversion kit and I’m not sure if one exists.
My 100D is badly scratched. Looking at 108D but the dial looks somber next to 100D
The biggest problem with s108 is the lug width...makes it difficult to find straps
Absolutely!

It’s a Barton Silicon Elite. They are great, can be had for about ~$20, and common in tons of colors!
@@JustWatches1 thank you! What size? I have the big one.

The battery in my EFV-100D actually just died, so I will put a video up soon!

Yeah, it is sort of silly but it has a nice ring to it :P
Last time you didn't give extra star for screw down crown. This time you gave it and it feels like 100D cheated it's way to victory ha.
How very inconsistent of me LOL. Thanks for point that out, clear favoritism.
