Thank you for this video. Professor Van Ness provides the antithesis to the disgraceful Graded Exercise Therapy, which had zero basis in fact or evidence. I'm so grateful. I cried.
Good speaker! I think at the very least, allow yourself to recover to your resting heart rate before doing another activity (not just below your AT: Anaerobic Threshold @ 28 min)
19:30 Aerobic system is the one that you use to maintain your posture. Most of your postural muscles are aerobic in nature. The ones that you use to walk and do low level exercise are primarily aerobic. Aerobic system is damaged. Activities that are longer than 2 minutes increase the risk of aggravation of the intensity of PEM. Classic exercise retraining has little benefits and may produce PEM. 23:45 Avoid prolonged aerobis activity like walking, standing. Position smartly when seated and doing different activities like showering.
I began a fitness career in 1984.........aerobics, aerobics, aerobics for and was forced to retire and go on medical disability after being diagnosed with hyperadreneric POTS and mast cell activation disorder. There were times when I was teaching 3 to4 classes/day. I was 30 when I started teaching all kinds of exercise classes, I am now 65. I also taught ballroom dance full time for 4 years. I always noticed my heart rate would fly to maximum VERY fast (3 minutes) I’m beginning to think they have the diagnosis wrong. I now have absolutely no strength or endurance of any kind, physical or mental. HOW do I find out if all my doctors are wrong? What type of doctor would make this diagnosis?????
Madeline Sabatello I began seeing a board certified neurologist who specializes in functional medicine and longevity. He is the first doctor who immediately understood my problems. He tested and found I was low in COenzymeQ10, glutamine and carnitine . Since taking supplements I have begun to improve. Look for a functional doctor who practices integrative health. If you are in california check out Sutter Health. It is in Northern cal but they are doing video consults now. Good luck.🍀

EXTREMELY helpful information! Thank you so much for sharing this MEFM Society of BC.
This is the ONLY thing I have seen that may actually help in 36 years of this appalling illness!
Same here. 30 years and started at 20 so never had a chance. Hoping this will help.

Interesting that walking and even standing is considered aerobic. I wouldn't have thought that.
