    That boxing yourself tip really is true. Recently I was taken on a trip external from my college (this is in the UK so America’s high school) to visit Oxford University. Once I was there and started speaking to people who were going to apply or who were already students, it made me feel a lot more confident and as though “hey, these people have a lot in common with me, I can probably do that too”. Basically, surround yourself with the type of people you want to become. If you’re smart, don’t sit with a group of idiots, sit with the even smarter people so that you’re the idiot, that’s the only way to improve efficiently, at least in my experience.

    Well said Tamer. A lot of students also forget about taking advantage of their studying institution to work on personal interests.. Instead they end up working on problems/subjects that are selected randomly and without a good criteria. A good home work when doing student projects is thinking of what could actually be beneficial on a personal level so that on the long run you still enjoy what you do while studying a degree.

    One of the common challenges in engineering is taking those dedicated engineering classes and lacking a few mathematical tools/skills, it's always important to continue learning and practicing math, even if you completed all the math required.
    Besides, sometimes it's fun to jump into theoretical/pure mathematics, or learn, practice and review applied mathematics.

    1. Not just resume, add project. No project? Look at the most required skills for jobs, learn the skill and do a project on it
    2. Don't mind about your past investment. Make decision rationally base on the present moment.
    3. Try to pirate as much as possible
    4. Do cheat sheet (pretty self explanatory)
    5. Learn to give up when you can't solve a problem and surrender yourself to using hint. Learn how to solve it.
    6. Don't limit yourself
    7. Learn outside of classes.
    8. Networking and get some helpful friends

    • @IsaacBuzby
      @IsaacBuzby 2 года назад

      Hi current mech e major, it would be super helpful, lots of companies would appreciate the business aspect of engineering. Lots of skills like communication, project management and others. You can get specific jobs from that degree as it’s very versatile!

    • @TamerShaheen
      @TamerShaheen  2 года назад

      You can do a double degree if that’s something u want, but it can be hectic to handle that course load. I don’t see much of a benefit in it since no job requires both as they only require either an engineering degree or a business degree. So it might be better to pick one and focus on it. In addition, if u pursue engineering, u can pursue an MBA after to have some business background. And yes, mechanical engineers can get jobs in specific fields like aerospace and environmental.
