  • In this video I show you how to diagnose a flashing glow spiral dash light fault.
    This is for engine code CAYC on all vag models, probably similar solution on similar tdi cr engine from volkswagen.
    Using obdeleven I found fault code p242a exhaust gas temperature sensor 3 cylinder bank 1. It can be quit hard to sort out which sensor you should swap out to solve this issue. By disconnecting the sensor(s) you while the scan tool is connected you can determine which one is the faulty.
    Always use ceramic anti seize pasta when reassembling.

    Coolant Pump 'B' Control Circuit Low
    As well come on and go at times. Are they related all together with some wiring issues?

    • @tmdrtn
      @tmdrtn  2 года назад

      Hello! Not sure, if you have 2 different problems in your electronics it would be worth to thoroughly check all wiring in the engine bay for damage. That problem I have not dealt with yet. But perhaps it is the electric coolant pump wiring?

      No, it was not, but it can be since dpf regeneration is not possible with a faulty sensor.

    good evening, could you explain the logic of sensor 1/2/3 of bank 1? I saw that on my Giulietta with obd2 it gives me 1 sensor 1 and 2 sensors two (the very fine ones) otherwise I have two large sensors that should be the lambda probes... but they shouldn't reveal the temperature... I have the exact same problem as you, it shows 1000° when cold... I checked all the sensors manually by disconnecting them and checking in obd but the one from 1000° remains at 1000°... obd2 tells me exhaust gas sensor on input but where in the input in the turbine or in the dpf? I would be very grateful if you could solve it

    • @tmdrtn
      @tmdrtn  Месяц назад

      @riccardotulipano9501 a quick reaction, seems to me that when a sensor os I dication 1000 degree Celsius while cold engine, this sensor should be faulty. Maybe you can do a continuity check with multimeter, this to verify, in that case I would exchange this sensor the thing is that when a sensor is failing it will end up at maximum resistance which is the maximum limit of its range, this being 1000c. Resistance measurement can help to find the faulty one

      @tmdrtn  2 года назад

      Hello Mark, I use the first generation obdeleven pro version, this is a none subscription solution, still use it and is sufficient for me, manual long coding is also working very good with this setup. Unfortunately they "upgraded" to another solution with some functionality taken away at a higher price. Best of luck to you!

      Hello thank you for watching and subscribing! Yes p242a indicates identical problem, please verify as in video before replacing the sensor. Fluctuations during idle or surging can be caused by several things such as injectors, hpp but likely if there is no fault code I would suspect the egr valve.
