    So adorable! I was giggling the whole time during the tool section. The fact you had no idea about the tools made it hilarious 😆

    Thanks for the tutorial! I just made my first ever construction fondant cake for my 2 years son's birthday and it was such a success. I used drip chocolate at the top instead of the fondant and it looked like real mud 😁 I had also such fun when making the tools. Thanks again 👍

    You did a great job on this cake! Your tools were well made and the little details are what make your cakes special. Down to the rivets on your tool belt:) beautiful job, another bedtime cake story for my little boy. ( we still have to watch your hungry caterpillar cake every night, he has all your words memorized!)

    The part at the top of the wrench is actually a round knob that extends beyond the wrench. You roll your finger over it to open or close the pinchers of the wrench.

    Do I have to use buttercream frosting underneath or can I use any frosting? Asking because I really don’t want to make buttercream frosting along with making this cake 😆

    Love your work! 🤗. As a small home baker, my stacked cakes tend to slightly bulge or wrinkle showing the obvious layers. Before delivering the cake looks wonderful but during the transfer the cake settles leaving it looking less than pristine. It’s sooo frustrating! Any advice would be helpful, thank you!!

    • @TheLovelyBaker
      @TheLovelyBaker  6 лет назад

      Hey Connie!! :) If your cake is bulging it could be for a few reasons. 1) Your board is not thick/sturdy enough to hold up during transport. If the board has any flexibility at all when you pick it up (the sides can turn up, it is still able to bend slightly), then it might not be giving your cake the support it needs. This could be made worse if the cake is not on a flat surface during transport as its likely to wiggle more on someones lap or on a car seat. 2) You may need to add more dowels/supports into your tiers 3) If you already have all that down, then you may just be adding a little too much filling in between your layers. Try giving your cake a longer break in between the crumb coat step and the final ice, and I have even heard of people adding some light weights on top of their cakes to help them settle faster. I have definitely had this problem before so you are not alone, just try troubleshooting with the suggestions above and hopefully you discover a routine that works for you!

    omg I love this cake, glad I came across your page. I just started making cakes and about to try my first tiered cake. since fondant can't be in the fridge, where do you suggest I place a covered cake while working on decortions

    • @TheLovelyBaker
      @TheLovelyBaker  6 лет назад

      Hey there! As long as there are no fillings in your cake like fresh fruit or cream cheese, you can have your cake on the counter at room temp. In my experience a fondant cake can go into the fridge , you can place it in the fridge and turn the cold setting down so that when you take it out there isnt such a drastic temp change. Some condensation may still form on your cake, but if you leave it alone it should dry back down:) The big fondant disasters happen when you take your cake from being extremely cold and then shock it by taking it out into a warmish room or if you live in a really hot climate.
