Damn... That sucks... I really liked their animations and stuff. I hope their victims are doing okay. It's a really hard doc to read due to the topics but I would recommend people read it if they have the stomach to. So many people on YT are turning out as awful people and it really sucks. Will this ever stop? Will people ever get the common sense not to be horrible wastes of oxygen?
I loved how Frecklewish stopped seeing the kits as Birchface at the exile and how they all morphed into a similar look as Mapleshade. Really shows how Frecklewish started to blame them as products of their mothers crimes once she knew the truth, and how she was valuing them before it. Not as themselves, but as extentions of her brother.
@SATURN13 I'm sorry you went through that! No parent should be relying on their children to try and heal them. Some people really shouldn't be allowed to have/keep kids and she sounds like one of them. I'm really glad you got out of that situation. Yeah, a lot of people like to excuse all Frecklewish did, because she was grieving when she did it, but so was everyone else in that book and they never try to excuse their actions. Most of the time, they condemn them, despite excusing Frecklewish. It's very hypocritical to me because it misses the most massive part of MV, that everyone was both a victim and an aggressor and no one was innocent but the kits. Frecklewish suffered, yes, but she called for the exile of literal babies and wanted them to be driven off. It's inexcusable, the same as Oakstars sentencing, Appledusk's behavior, Ravenwing's silence, and Mapleshade's murders.
THIS ^^ tbh, whenever stuff like this happens in the wc community, theres always either a villain or a hero. i get mapleshade is a literal murderer, but she wasn't an "evil" cat before the events of mapleshades vengeance. and neither was frecklewish! although freckle def doesn't deserve all the slander, she isn't a little owo baby who did nothing wrong. imo, both cats suck. theres really nothing good ab either of them. the only true victim were the kits, myler, and nettlepaw. frecklewish only say the kits as extensions of her brother, nothing more. even after the whole time that she loved and cared for them, the bond really meant nothing to her. i get lashing out at mapleshade (albeit physically) but wanting the kits out of the clan?? during a storm?? literally calling them "half-clan" creatures??? it doesn't matter if they were the children of appledusk, birchfaces killer, they were CHILDREN. they had no control over who their parents were. some people try to flip the argument over with "but mapleshade shouldn't have mated with appledusk in the first place!" ah yes, what a crime. falling in love with a cat in another clan. although yes, having kits with a tom from another clan is reckless (but at this point, 50 cats have already done it so far into the series) warriors logic is pretty much "when a tom and molly hang out, they mysteriously start having babies!" again, i dont like either of the characters. they both suck. frecklewish was obsessed over the kits being supposedly birchfaces children and mapleshade was a murderer of 3 cats. victimizing frecklewish is stupid. she WASNT a victim. however, she didn't deserve to be killed.
@@urmom-kj1lw MV is probably the most misunderstood book in the series, first it was interpreted as a sob story for Mapleshade, then for Frecklewish. But at the end of the day the biggest victims will always be the kits, it doesnt matter who was grieving the most or who was right or wrong, those three kits died far too soon. They died because none of the adults in their lives and outside of their lives were far too unstable to realize that their actions and words were hurting them. None of them stopped to realize that 3 innocent kits died because they were too selfish to let go for the sake of them, they're too busy yelling and screaming at them and at each other to notice how badly they were projecting at them. I honestly hope there's a sequel novel in the same time period as MV where at least one of the adults, probably Frecklewish, actually realized how badly they messed up and how 3 kits are dead because no one thought about them unless it was convenient. I do hope it's Frecklewish so the Frecklewish fans can get their closure and Freckle can have a better light on her than the previous demonization.
@SATURN13 I actually have a theory that I wanted to ask at the next q&a with the authors! Take it or leave it but I think Ravenwing misinterpreted the sign that led to him telling Oakstar. I think it for four reasons. 1) Ravenwing is said to be very new as a lone medicine cat, so new that Mapleshades kits are the first he delivers alone. This means that his mentor, Oatspeckle, was probably the one receiving and interpreting omens before the events of the book. 2) The sign came the day before he saw Mapleshades kits swimming. If it was about them being half clan, why was it sent then and not before they were born or at their birth? It was only sent when Starclan knew he would become suspicious and insist on telling Oakstar. 3) The sign was three reeds being swept away by a river, but four cats were exiled. If the meaning of the sign was that these cats were meant to be chased off, then Mapleshade should have been represented in some way as well. However, three cats drowned, not four. 4) Signs are able to be misinterpreted to such a degree considering Cinderpelt predicted that Squrrielflight and Brambleclaw would destroy the clans from a sign saying that they would save them. I think the sign was a warning to Ravenwing that the kits would drown if they were exiled because of his suspicions and he misinterpreted it to be Starclan warning him that the kits didn't belong.
@SATURN13 The worse part is that they were only exiled completely because of their father. It wasn't even because they were just half-clan, it was just because they were Appledusks. Later on under Oakstars leadership, Squrrielwhisker gives birth to the half clan kit Windflight, and Oakstar allowed them both to stay. He literally was just taking revenge on the kits. Oakstar it the one cat I would put in the Dark forest if I had the chance.
@@marsofia5549, not sure why. It is right. Being born isn't anybody's fault, but the responsibility for the consequences would be on Mapleshade and Appledusk. They were grown warriors and had to know what would their decision do to their kits once the truth is out.
@@Ebonyfire Appledusk actually brings this up after Mapleshade tells him she's pregnant. He tells her that they won't be accepted, they're half-clan, and Riverclan isn't on the best of terms with Thunderclan. Mapleshade brushes this off
underrated detail: at 3:17 mapleshade carrie’s her kits on her back like a mother spider would/does. the amount of attention to detail in this map is outstanding!

I like the little detail of Mapleshade unsheathing her claws over Appledusk’s paw. He was by no means innocent or a good person either, but people usually are so focused on bashing him that they either don’t notice or choose to ignore how toxically possessive Mapleshade was of him even before their kits were born. They were never good for each other.

as the credits end, a spider crawls onto one of frecklewish's eyes. this is symbolic in several ways. for example, mapleshade's design parallels that of a black widow's. it could be used to portray the snake bite, which was ultimately caused by mapleshade, hence, the spider. she had been very depressed interesting weeks leading up to mapleshade's exile, her hope and desperation to still be with her brother and mapleshade's lies skewed her perspective (hence, the spider blocking half of her vision). even when the whole clan had turned against mapleshade, she still clung to the tiny scrap of hope that her brother wasn't truly lost until the inevitable truth came out.p the fact that such tiny details can say so much about the emotional trauma frecklewish was going through further cements the fact that this map is truly outstanding.
Not only that, but Mapleshade is depicted as a BLACK WIDOW, a spider known for killing and eating her mate. And considering that Maple ends up killing Appledusk, her mate and the father of her kits. God, I love this map sm.

This MAP is so beautiful. Everything Frecklewish fans have been hoping for since like...forever really. Frecklewish isn't a perfect cat by any means, she is a flawed character with a lot of grief swallowing her up. It's nice to see this character who has been misinterpreted and demonized for so long getting positive attention. Thank you for hosting this MAP, Aster.
In a young audience base fandom who tends to resort to black and white feelings about characters I find most Frecklewish fans refreshing in their nuanced opinions of her. The moralities of characters in mapleshades vengeance are all so complicated and interesting but she’s such a cool, morally grey tragic character.
I truly adore the detail of Frecklewish conjuring up a new image of the kits as soon as she sees them, making them look more like Birchface. In the book, she says she sees Birchface so clearly in all of them, but that couldn't be further from the truth (as Mapleshade herself notes). LOVE that someone finally used that and took it one step further visually. Truly one of my favourite MAPs!
it's so nice to see the fandom finally seeing frecklewish for who she was instead of completely hating her and misinterpreting her actions. She totally was flawed and was by no means perfect, but we have to consider that she was going through so much grief and sadness. Anyways, this is now one of my favorite MAPs of all time. We hardly ever get MAPs that feature a different perspective to Mapleshade's vengeance!

I used to hate Frecklewish. When I read Mapleshade’s vengeance for the first time I immediately took Maple’s side and was triumphant when she killed Frecklewish. I always found her annoying. But after watching her side of the story and the struggles she faced really hit me. Frecklewish went through so much, she lost her brother and her clanmate used her dead brother to lie. I feel for Frecklewish, and she’s now one of my favorite characters. This map was absolutely gorgeous and portrayed the emotions of the plot perfectly. The aesthetic was unique and eye-catching and the song was a perfect fit. Thank you for this map, every participant did a phenomenal job!
I know, right? D: also, a little detail i noticed, Frecklewish never said that she saw the kits drown! She just said that she saw Mapleshade struggling and Riverclan cats at the border, so ! maybe she already thought, that the kits were save? I reread the book after noticing this, and it just felt completely different...
I mean, to be fair, Mapleshade never lied. She simply never confirmed (nor denied). Frecklewish assumed the father was Birchface. Mapleshade never confirmed he was. She simply sat there and allowed them to assume whatever. She stated at the beggining of the book that she would be raising the alone, that she would be keeping the father private, and she stayed true to her word. Like Its so weird to approach a lady who obviously wants to keep her children's kin private and go "hmmm..... SO MY DEAD BROTHER MUST BE THE FATHER, RIGHT?? :D". I kinda pin the blame on Freckle for that one. Like..... yeah... Maple never said Birch wasn't the father. But she never said he was, either. So technically she never lied. She just allowed them to assume

I've actually never read Warriors but still linger around the map scene cuz there's some incredible artist here But THIS has to be one of the coolest maps I've seen- design, concept, song choice. It's all astounding! And then it's brought together by all these amazing artists who joined and made the MAP complete
This map will be historic. A character who had been hated so far was finally shown in a better light. Yes, the map does not make her an ideal without flaws, she constantly screams at Maple and kittens. But it shows that she was only person. That she suffered. That she was in pain. That we can judge her too harshly, for a few mean words she said. Thank you for what you've done with the perception of this character in fandom. Thank you for this map. You and all the animators.

The fact that she was mean to kits and a queen bc of a lie- (Edit: It turns out it wasn't a lie. They assumed Birchface was the father. "Assumed: to accept something to be true without question or proof", thats what they did)
this was gorgeous!! everyone did absolutely incredible- the map gave me chills. i love the focus on birchface, and this perspective of mapleshade's story. the bug theme being a much appreciated added bonus. the ending credits was so nice too!!
i really like the detail at 1:57 of mapleshade unsheathing her claws and pulling appledusk's paw closer to her pregnant belly. it's a really subtle way to show her sinister sense of possessiveness.
I like how thos shows the fact that she didn't just sit and watch the kits doe and saw other riverclan cats that could help which is why she left. That's something really important I think most people interpret wrong. And this entire map in general is just stunning and goes with the book so well, it's absolutely amazing.
I like how the kits change from resembling a moth to resembling a spider, showing not only her blind sightedness but her desperation to see her brother in these kits, only for reality to set in and also see them like predators, like their mother. I love the bug symbolism in this! Seriously, Frecklewish and her brother being moths, while Appledusk is a praying mantis and Mapleshade is a spider, including Ravenwing as a butterfly. This all is just great! EDIT: WAIT REWATCHING THIS I JUST REALIZED 2:22 The kits look like they do naturally (can't see spider eyes cause their eyes are closed) but when we see them through Frecklewish's eyes they change and look brighter/more like her brother. Like they didn't have the antenna but after we see them do
The way the eyes/hair/ears meld together and form bug-like shapes is so appealing. I need more bug cat hybrids. I love antenna too, the can convey so much emotion. So many cats in the background are equally appealing to the eye as well.
I like how Mapleshade was more portrayed like a Spider rather than a moth, showing she's with a different mindset then the others and how she bassicly makes a web of lies that catches Frecklewish (im guessing that was also symbolized in the opening scene? Edit: and right after Mapleshade's secret is revealed) I love this ugh- Edit: And Appledusk like a mantis, that ate Birch away from Freckle
I love how you guys made Maple’Shade a black widow, black widows are known usually for being insanely deadly and often killing the male after mating. It really shows her possessiveness and the murders she committed, great job!
I can confidently say that I have never been more excited for a M.A.P I loved this idea when I saw the M.A.P call, I love the song, the character, this is going to be the perfect thing to top off the fandom's frecklewish 'phase'. I like to imagine that despite the fact those kits did not belong to Birchface that Frecklwish still cared for them and that is why she watched to see if they made it across the river safely. She couldn't help them once they were taken away in the river, but she saw the riverclan cats and thought it was all okay- I feel she did truly care for the kits and was only betrayed by Mapleshades deception. Appledusk said at one point that the kits couldn't help that they were born, so I feel that Frecklewish doesn't blame them for anything and cared about them because it was Mapleshade who was at fault for what happened. I love the symbolism in the map and the little details- and the bug theme?? So beautiful. Everything about this is so amazing

i love how in 2:06 mapleshade's eyes look towards the right while her main eyes stay looking at frecklewish, it's a nice detail to see since often liars may look in a different direction whenever theyre lying, and that's what mapleshade is doing when she lies about birchface being the father of her kits
oh my lord. everything was absolutely stunning. from the designs to the details, every single animator did incredible. the song perfectly fits with frecklewish. the theme, colors, and emotion portrayed through the map is amazing. frecklewish’s happiness, to bitterness, greif, joy, and anger feels welled and unexplainable. she honestly has a perfectly valid point for being angry. her brother died, her best friend lied about him being her kits’ father, just to turn out thier real kin is appledusk of riverclan, the very tom who killed him. freckle is heartbroken, the only thing she has left now is her father and her clan. she never deserved to die, at least she could’ve gone to starclan, to be able to see birchface. the grief is portrayed beutifuly in this map. whenever i rewatch it i honestly nearly shed a tear.
She's a very flawed character..But honestly I sometimes see myself in her. I too have to deal with a lot of grief and it sometimes makes me lash out at those I cared about. I've always done so much for others yet it's always never enough. I LOVE her design in this!! She's so beautiful, amazing job to everyone
I adore this map altogether. I loved the designs and the way that it dug past Mapleshade’s views. Frecklewish probably didn’t want the kits to die like Mapleshade said, she cared so deeply about the kits. But it’s been shown how these cats react to true kin heritage being revealed. It showed her grief incredibly, and how she made herself believe a lie because she so desperately wanted her brother to still be with her. I like to think that deep down she always knew that the kits weren’t Birchface’s, but so desperately wished they were that she pushed aside every sign that they weren’t. And then when faced with the truth that she didn’t want to accept at first, she crumbled. Everyone in Mapleshade’s vengeance should be looked under a microscope because they are all so morally grey it is incredibly interesting (Besides the kits and probably Reedshine and Ravenwing)
I'm a bit late, but I just wanted to say I love how clear this map tells the story! Even without reading the book, you can tell the characters apart so easily and tell whats happening and when plus how everything connects to each other! Thats really really rare with most warriors MAPs out there imo!
Dude this was amazing, I loved the freckle perspective on this, she really didn't deserve what happened to her. I get Oakstar getting a bad rep but he lost his son to Maples mate and then lost his daughter. Frecklewish really needed some attention as a notable background character. ALSO I LOOOOOVE THE BUG THEME. Bugs have a huge variety of morphologies and I thought it was clever to use a lot of bug symbolism, especially with mapleshade and appledusk. My favorite bugs are cicadas! This is now my comfort map, beautiful job Kirikerise and the participants of this lovely map

It's been really amazing watching this MAP's progress! Everyone did an incredible job! Bravo! The art direction is truly special. The swampy color scheme with the lanterns and small houses just creates such a magical, cozy environment for such a tragic story. Not to mention the amazing bug designs. I love all of it.
There is so much I want to say about this M.A.P and how much I adore this So now it's time for a really long comment :> I watched your whole frecklewish video and I agreed with almost everythingggg Not a lot of people in this community show frecklewish and birchface's relationship, her brother clearly meant the world to her. It makes it worse if you can remember her mother Shinecloud died too I first want to talk about frecklewish, the cat who is heavily demonized in the fandom Frecklewish is by no means, perfect nor is she a horrible cat And that's what makes her likeable in my eyes Frecklewish at the start with her brother honestly made me feel so many emotions. The animators did such a lovely job capturing Frecklewish and Birchface's relationship The way they play at the beginning, the way they train together and the way birchface comforts Frecklewish is just beautiful We get into more scenes with these wonderful siblings, starting with them joking to each other and frecklewish's proud expression as Birchface gets his first apprentice Next we see the battle between thunderclan and riverclan The battle is simple and fierce at first, but then we see Appledusk and Birchface Birchface's stumble movements as he snarls at Appledusk is very well done and it looks like he's trying to stay on the rock 1:27 I literally can't express how much I love frecklewish's expression- It's like she can't process anything while her tears slowly build up at the moment while she's staring at her brother and his apprentice's body 1:36 During this part, she now looks horrified once reality snaps back into her and she sobs into her brothers body 1:45 Now we see how much this truly affected her She's sitting in the middle of camp, doing nothing but sulking while her clan mates are doing their usual duties 2:01 I love how it shows how frecklewish is happy about the news that mapleshade is expecting BEFORE frecklewish actually asks if they are birchface's kits 2:09 The split scene where Frecklewish hugs Mapleshade and cries is so well done like no words 2:20-2:30 Gosh this scene is so sweet From frecklewish's shocked expression to instant joy and then her crying happily about the cats (also I love the kits, they look so skrunkly) 2:42 Now we cut to frecklewish playing with the kits You can see the pure joy in her eyes, the pure love she feels for the kits is strong as she is believing a lie Now we cut to the most controversial part- the exile 2:56 This scene is done perfectly, Frecklewish is in disbelief at first then defends Mapleshade (a lot of people forget that she was the first to defend Mapleshade, not claw her instantly-) 3:05 The way Frecklewish turns from grief stricken to angry is incredibly done well I especially love the detail of everyone else being blurred out a little as we focus on Frecklewish only 3:08 Now this part- is very controversial Sure it was not okay for Frecklewish to put her claws on Mapleshade, but her anger was completely understandable (not justifiable but understandable) Then we see the kits and frecklewish might've realized she screwed up especially since canonly she calls them "half clan creatures" (I love the detail of her not getting in their faces though, because she never actually does that) 3:17 Frecklewish then screams at Mapleshade as she leaves then she hugs herself, and I love that detail a lot She's angry and grief stricken (Which doesn't change much canon wise) 3:24 I really love this honestly- We as the readers aren't sure what truly happened The Erins claimed she watched, which is compeltely twisting Vicky's words If anything, she 100% left when the riverclan patrol arrived Even so, she literally couldn't do anything She would've been another cat to save for goodness sakes Not to mention how foolish it would be to jump in a flooding river when it took down a cat like Mapleshade- 3:37 I love how tired Frecklewish looks, it truly shows how much mapleshade's lie affected her- 3:41 This part honestly broke me- The way she's clearly dying, and how she looks so mentally tired It feels like she was just waiting to die And then Birchface at the end, smiling at her just hit honestly Welcome to Starclan Frecklewish Now, let's talk about Mapleshade real quick The way she is portrayed in this m.a.p is how I see her- A loving mother, and a horrible person 0:33 She's seen to be bored or annoyed, I honestly can't tell lol 0:57 Here she is either borde or annoyed again, and then Appledusk grabs her attention- 1:10 While a meeting is happening, we see her meeting up with Appledusk- Lovely 1:59 OH GOD I LOVE THIS SCENE It truly shows how possessive she was over Appledusk as Appledusk embraces happily with Mapleshade And I love the idea of her grabbing Appledusk's paw and placing it on her belly as a way of hinting she's expecting his kits (I'm not the biggest appledusk fan but I love how it shows his caring loving side for Mapleshade) 2:05 Mapleshades fearful looks when frecklewish asks if birchface is the father of her kits, then how she quickly turns relaxed. It's done so well I can't express how much I love the detail of her other eyes looking away from frecklewish to imply she's lying 2:12 The way she awkwardly smiles when Frecklewish hugs her then instantly turns annoyed is very accurate- (this is shown canonly in the books when she wants to bat frecklewish away so she can be online with her kits) 2:28 She continues to look annoyed and even angry as Frecklewish grieves happily about her kits 2:49 We can see how anxious she looks about her lies as Frecklewish plays with her kits 2:56 Her small movements of pure fear then how she looks surprised that Frecklewish believes her still So she then keeps her act up- 3:04 Not a huge thing, but the detail of her looking angry an with no pity at all is perfect- 3:16 She looks angry now as she believes she did nothing wrong Again, I love how this m.a.p shows Mapleshade's true colors, while also keeping the fact she loved her kits, she was just a bad mother Oh boy this was a long comment, feel free to put your own opinions or add on to it! everyone did so incredibly well, even the outro is gorgeous and creative! I love the tiny details of the kits designs. One gets eyespots on their cheeks like a butterfly, but they have real eyes and not just imitations. I love the warm orange colors.
Oh my God, how much I crying. Poor Frecklewish, she didn't deserve such a terrible death and fate. And she don't deserve the dark forest. She should be in Starclan. I am insanely happy that you have released this map. Frecklewish should not be hated by everyone. I'm glad you showed all this from the Frecklewish side. All the artists have done an amazing job. Thank you all for this, this map means a lot to me.
People say that it doesn't make sense that Frecklewish went to the Dark Forest and IN MY OPINION, Frecklewish didn't deserve to go to the Dark Forest but at the same time, she did. She said she would help to protect Mapleshade's cubs but she didn't do that when the truth was told to everyone, she attacked Mapleshade in front of the cubs, she attacked a clan member before leaving (I don't even know if that counts) and didn't help Mapleshade's kits when they were crossing the river. I'm sorry for writing all this text, don't kill me

As someone who’s favorite book is Mapleshade’s vengeance, HOLY COW THIS IS AMAZING! I love how it’s insect themed and wow…also the song is amazing, too! I also realized something: all of the cats are insects, while Mapleshade is the only arachnid. This shows that she had evil intentions and/or didn’t belong.

This actually makes me feel bad for frecklewish in a way I never have. This map is absolutely amazing, not only the story but also the art, each map part is amazing, I honestly appreciate frecklewish a lot more now, she was truly sad when birchface died, and became overjoyed when she thought mapleshade was bearing his kits, so when she figured out the truth she was overwhelmed with rage causing some wrongdoings of course that doesn’t completely justify what she’s done but you get to see her perspective. This is amazing.
Absolutely gorgeous. The designs are so unbelievably perfect. And the scenes with Maple and Freckle being adorable bug wives (don’t come at me) we’re gorgeous just- Everyone did a wonderful job!
A cool detail that was here, in 1:43 there was a mantis eating a butterfly, which represents frecklewishes friend getting killed and then at 3:23 there was a butterfly in a web , that represented how frecklewish was manipulated by mapleshade

OUR PRECIOUS FRECKLEWISH! I love this AU so much, I can’t stop rewatching this! I honestly just adore the concept of the cats being part bug, like Mapleshade being a spider and when she gets mad cobwebs grow out of her fur. Everything about this is so perfectly expressed.
This map is far the most emotional map i'v ever watched, Freckle'wish and Maggotbelly are 2 things that mash well together, I burst into tears because of the emotion and amazing animation. Maggot belly will go down in history

I love this map. I always kind of liked Freckle'Wish though I've never read Maple'Shade's vengeance. I was incredibly confused and mad when the Erins decided to put her in the Dark Forest. It's nice to finally see a map for Freckle'Wish, and I think the animators did a wonderful job conveying her emotions.
Oh my gosh this whole thing looks so beautiful and sad. Love how at the start, we can see the moth in the spider web. How in the eyes of Frecklewish the kits don't look as themselves, more similar to her brother. The whole thing is incredibly sad and I think it's great that yes, while we can all recognize Frecklewish's flaws, we can also see how painful this whole thing must have been for her.
i know this MAP is a month old, i finally watched it after it being recommended to me and im glad i did! its so stunning, visuals, the bug-like characters, everything! even small details! one thing i am confused on is the mention of suicide, that part is a bit blurry to me, my brain can't wrap around how it is i thought she just died as an elder in that bit

This is hella late, but this map is stunning. This map brought me to tears. I love frecklewish, and I’ve always loved her. I’m so glad someone has made a map on her. She’s so underrated!
This MAP does a really good job at showing how much Frecklewish missed her brother and how she saw her brother in Mapleshade's kits because she thought they were his. With the amount of grief she was going through it's understandable why she'd lash out and feel sort of betrayed to find out they were Appledusk's. It still doesn't make what Frecklewish did justifiable, it just helps the viewer understand why she acted the way she did when she figured out the truth.
I can say without any doubt. This is a wonderful MAP, in which everyone has tried hard. I just thank all the gods of the world for my person coming across this video in the recommendations. The song selection is really gorgeous. I listened to the text, and the sound for several minutes and I.. i liked everything.
I love the fact that Mapleshade was a spider in a clan full of moths, butterflies, and other prettier insects, and that once Frecklewish realized the kits weren't full thunderclan they had that web imagery around them

I used to dislike frecklewish for watching mapleshades kits drown, since I was (and still am!) a die-hard mapleshade fan, but this has made me see her in a different way and birch face was really important to her. I also love how mapleshade has a red-back spider marking on her tail and how cats were portrayed as bugs!! Again, well done everyone!!

This is an important MAP because it's probably the only one that focuses specifically on Frecklewish. She was a victim of circumstance traumatized by seeing her brother and his apprentice drown in the river and thought he would live one through Mapleshade's kits, just to realize Mapleshade lied to her.
The fact that the kit's appearance changes one the truth gets out is beautiful, and shows how Freacklewish wanted the kits to belong to her brother so much it made her see the kits differently, absolutely stunning
This was beautiful! Properly showing Frecklewish's view of Mapleshades Veagance was amazing. She reallt had a hard life, especially when she thought her brother was living on through Mapleshade's kits. Outstanding map!
I can’t WAIT to see the finished map! I just know it’s going to be my favorite, first off as soon as I came across the map call, I LOVED the song choice, and then it had my favorite character, Mapleshade, and Frecklewishs story. Honestly this was such a creative and amazing map to host kirikerise!
AAAAH THIS CAME OUT SO WELL!! I've been in love with this map concept for so long, I'm so glad it finally came out!!! Everyone did spectacular with each part! The emotions and vibe each part has is wonderful and strong and each artist managed to capture the right energy wonderfully in each part! The colors and scenery makes this map have a lot of emotion, I absolutely adore it! (The little tree houses in the clan is such a nice touch as well!!)
This is one of my favorite map ever, showing the side of a side character, all of those emotions, the song, the designs, each animator's outstanding part... It got me breaking into tears pretty quickly hehe
I’m gonna start off by saying: THE THEME AND IDEA OF THIS MAP IS AMAZING! I never really liked frecklewish, as my personal opinion, but this map really makes me hate her a lot less lol! I believe she’s flawed and in grief, like MapleShade. She acted out but not as harsh as maple. Overall the art and theme of this map is so cool! The finished product looks amazing and the part flow together so well! :3. The designs are awesome too! Jeez, this has to get to be a really popular and well known map! :3. Happy Valentine’s Day! One of the things I remember is that mapleshade’s murders (from what I've gathered from fan content) are also done out of anger and grief. We find people rooting for her and feeling sympathy for her. So why can't it be the other way around for Frecklerwish? I love the depth of her character and I'm so happy to see more content with her. (Quick disclaimer I’m not saying Freckle is worse than Maple I’m just pointing out the double standards.) Also amazing detail at 1:59 with Maple unsheathing her claws and pulling Apple's hand closer, it shows whom truly possessive Maple is.
I think it’s because others would take Mapleshade’s narrative or thoughts of her victims too literal. Like how she believes that Frecklewish had watched her kittens drown after Nettlepaw told her what she seen.
This was so good! Im not usually emotionally swayed often, and this swayed me for sure! I love how the point of view from Freckle`wish is so accurate! and the art and editing looks great!! all together an outstanding map
its so fricking beautiful I can't speak. I love how it focuses on Frecklewish's perspective on how she felt when Mapleshade told her that she's having kits, yet Mapleshade lies and says the father of her kits is Birchface, Frecklewish's brother. Its just a beautiful MAP and the song fits so well!

This is so depressingly beautiful. I love the bug theme here, it really matches the song. really beautiful artwork here. The colours are stunning and the song is so sad but so beautiful. definitely all over moth frecklewish.
This has got to be the most accurate version of Frecklewish I've ever seen in the fandom. She was tricked by Mapleshade into thinking the kits were legit, and lied to her about the true father. She rightfully attacked Maple once she found out that the kits were the heirs of the one who killed her brother; Appledusk. She didn't watch the kits drown; she saw them start to cross and left thinking the cats on the other side would help them cross without her. She had no idea about what happened until Maple confronted her about it. In fact, Maple blamed her for their deaths even though she was no longer there when it all happened.
I don’t think mapleshade lie to frecklewish like everyone in clan and even frecklewish assume mapleshade kit dad is birchface even though mapleshade never say anything about birchface being the father or either the clan see them dating at time (I know I am defending mapleshade but really thunderclan, what make you assume birchface is the father of those kit)

I mean with no evidence or proof that maple and birch were together it was kinda awkward and in the book freckle didn’t give mapleshade a chance to tell her anything. Queens don’t owe anyone an explanation of who their mates are. But both freckle and maple are equally horrible people they practically used each other in their own way.

I loved how Frecklewish stopped seeing the kits as Birchface at the exile and how they all morphed into a similar look as Mapleshade. Really shows how Frecklewish started to blame them as products of their mothers crimes once she knew the truth, and how she was valuing them before it. Not as themselves, but as extentions of her brother.

Yeah, a lot of people like to excuse all Frecklewish did, because she was grieving when she did it, but so was everyone else in that book and they never try to excuse their actions. Most of the time, they condemn them, despite excusing Frecklewish.
It's very hypocritical to me because it misses the most massive part of MV, that everyone was both a victim and an aggressor and no one was innocent but the kits.
Frecklewish suffered, yes, but she called for the exile of literal babies and wanted them to be driven off. It's inexcusable, the same as Oakstars sentencing, Appledusk's behavior, Ravenwing's silence, and Mapleshade's murders.

frecklewish only say the kits as extensions of her brother, nothing more. even after the whole time that she loved and cared for them, the bond really meant nothing to her. i get lashing out at mapleshade (albeit physically) but wanting the kits out of the clan?? during a storm?? literally calling them "half-clan" creatures??? it doesn't matter if they were the children of appledusk, birchfaces killer, they were CHILDREN. they had no control over who their parents were. some people try to flip the argument over with "but mapleshade shouldn't have mated with appledusk in the first place!" ah yes, what a crime. falling in love with a cat in another clan. although yes, having kits with a tom from another clan is reckless (but at this point, 50 cats have already done it so far into the series) warriors logic is pretty much "when a tom and molly hang out, they mysteriously start having babies!"

@@urmom-kj1lw MV is probably the most misunderstood book in the series, first it was interpreted as a sob story for Mapleshade, then for Frecklewish.
But at the end of the day the biggest victims will always be the kits, it doesnt matter who was grieving the most or who was right or wrong, those three kits died far too soon. They died because none of the adults in their lives and outside of their lives were far too unstable to realize that their actions and words were hurting them. None of them stopped to realize that 3 innocent kits died because they were too selfish to let go for the sake of them, they're too busy yelling and screaming at them and at each other to notice how badly they were projecting at them.
I honestly hope there's a sequel novel in the same time period as MV where at least one of the adults, probably Frecklewish, actually realized how badly they messed up and how 3 kits are dead because no one thought about them unless it was convenient. I do hope it's Frecklewish so the Frecklewish fans can get their closure and Freckle can have a better light on her than the previous demonization.
@SATURN13 I actually have a theory that I wanted to ask at the next q&a with the authors!
Take it or leave it but I think Ravenwing misinterpreted the sign that led to him telling Oakstar. I think it for four reasons.
1) Ravenwing is said to be very new as a lone medicine cat, so new that Mapleshades kits are the first he delivers alone. This means that his mentor, Oatspeckle, was probably the one receiving and interpreting omens before the events of the book.
2) The sign came the day before he saw Mapleshades kits swimming. If it was about them being half clan, why was it sent then and not before they were born or at their birth? It was only sent when Starclan knew he would become suspicious and insist on telling Oakstar.
3) The sign was three reeds being swept away by a river, but four cats were exiled. If the meaning of the sign was that these cats were meant to be chased off, then Mapleshade should have been represented in some way as well. However, three cats drowned, not four.
4) Signs are able to be misinterpreted to such a degree considering Cinderpelt predicted that Squrrielflight and Brambleclaw would destroy the clans from a sign saying that they would save them.
I think the sign was a warning to Ravenwing that the kits would drown if they were exiled because of his suspicions and he misinterpreted it to be Starclan warning him that the kits didn't belong.
@SATURN13 The worse part is that they were only exiled completely because of their father. It wasn't even because they were just half-clan, it was just because they were Appledusks.
Later on under Oakstars leadership, Squrrielwhisker gives birth to the half clan kit Windflight, and Oakstar allowed them both to stay. He literally was just taking revenge on the kits. Oakstar it the one cat I would put in the Dark forest if I had the chance.
This made me realize how true Appledusk's leader's statement was...

@@marsofia5549, not sure why. It is right. Being born isn't anybody's fault, but the responsibility for the consequences would be on Mapleshade and Appledusk. They were grown warriors and had to know what would their decision do to their kits once the truth is out.
@@Ebonyfire Appledusk actually brings this up after Mapleshade tells him she's pregnant. He tells her that they won't be accepted, they're half-clan, and Riverclan isn't on the best of terms with Thunderclan. Mapleshade brushes this off

I like the little detail of Mapleshade unsheathing her claws over Appledusk’s paw. for example, mapleshade's design parallels that of a black widow's. it could be used to portray the snake bite, which was ultimately caused by mapleshade, hence, the spider. she had been very depressed interesting weeks leading up to mapleshade's exile, her hope and desperation to still be with her brother and mapleshade's lies skewed her perspective (hence, the spider blocking half of her vision). even when the whole clan had turned against mapleshade, she still clung to the tiny scrap of hope that her brother wasn't truly lost until the inevitable truth came out.p
the fact that such tiny details can say so much about the emotional trauma frecklewish was going through further cements the fact that this map is truly outstanding.
Not only that, but Mapleshade is depicted as a BLACK WIDOW, a spider known for killing and eating her mate. And considering that Maple ends up killing Appledusk, her mate and the father of her kits. God, I love this map sm.

This MAP is so beautiful. Everything Frecklewish fans have been hoping for since like...forever really. Frecklewish isn't a perfect cat by any means, she is a flawed character with a lot of grief swallowing her up. It's nice to see this character who has been misinterpreted and demonized for so long getting positive attention.

Frecklewish doesn't deserve fans
In a young audience base fandom who tends to resort to black and white feelings about characters I find most Frecklewish fans refreshing in their nuanced opinions of her. The moralities of characters in mapleshades vengeance are all so complicated and interesting but she’s such a cool, morally grey tragic character.
absolutely oustanding. this MAP is just chefs kiss. Showing Frecklewish's side of Mapleshade's story, her emotions, her struggles, GOD it's so good.
I truly adore the detail of Frecklewish conjuring up a new image of the kits as soon as she sees them, making them look more like Birchface. In the book, she says she sees Birchface so clearly in all of them, but that couldn't be further from the truth (as Mapleshade herself notes). LOVE that someone finally used that and took it one step further visually. Truly one of my favourite MAPs!
it's so nice to see the fandom finally seeing frecklewish for who she was instead of completely hating her and misinterpreting her actions. She totally was flawed and was by no means perfect, but we have to consider that she was going through so much grief and sadness. Anyways, this is now one of my favorite MAPs of all time. We hardly ever get MAPs that feature a different perspective to Mapleshade's vengeance!

I used to hate Frecklewish. When I read Mapleshade’s vengeance for the first time I immediately took Maple’s side and was triumphant when she killed Frecklewish. I always found her annoying. But after watching her side of the story and the struggles she faced really hit me. Frecklewish went through so much, she lost her brother and her clanmate used her dead brother to lie. I feel for Frecklewish, and she’s now one of my favorite characters.
This map was absolutely gorgeous and portrayed the emotions of the plot perfectly. The aesthetic was unique and eye-catching and the song was a perfect fit.

She just said that she saw Mapleshade struggling and Riverclan cats at the border, so ! maybe she already thought, that the kits were save? I reread the book after noticing this, and it just felt completely different...

She simply never confirmed (nor denied).
Frecklewish assumed the father was Birchface. Mapleshade never confirmed he was. She simply sat there and allowed them to assume whatever. She stated at the beggining of the book that she would be raising the alone, that she would be keeping the father private, and she stayed true to her word.
Like Its so weird to approach a lady who obviously wants to keep her children's kin private and go "hmmm..... SO MY DEAD BROTHER MUST BE THE FATHER, RIGHT?? :D". I kinda pin the blame on Freckle for that one. Like..... yeah... Maple never said Birch wasn't the father. But she never said he was, either. So technically she never lied. She just allowed them to assume

But THIS has to be one of the coolest maps I've seen- design, concept, song choice. It's all astounding! And then it's brought together by all these amazing artists who joined and made the MAP complete
Same I tried reading them but I couldn't find any books where I am except 3 and they were not in order at alll
This map will be historic. A character who had been hated so far was finally shown in a better light. Yes, the map does not make her an ideal without flaws, she constantly screams at Maple and kittens. But it shows that she was only person. That she suffered. That she was in pain. That we can judge her too harshly, for a few mean words she said.
Thank you for what you've done with the perception of this character in fandom. Thank you for this map. You and all the animators.

this was gorgeous!! everyone did absolutely incredible- the map gave me chills. i love the focus on birchface, and this perspective of mapleshade's story. the bug theme being a much appreciated added bonus. the ending credits was so nice too!!
i really like the detail at 1:57 of mapleshade unsheathing her claws and pulling appledusk's paw closer to her pregnant belly. it's a really subtle way to show her sinister sense of possessiveness.
I like how thos shows the fact that she didn't just sit and watch the kits doe and saw other riverclan cats that could help which is why she left. That's something really important I think most people interpret wrong. And this entire map in general is just stunning and goes with the book so well, it's absolutely amazing.
I like how the kits change from resembling a moth to resembling a spider, showing not only her blind sightedness but her desperation to see her brother in these kits, only for reality to set in and also see them like predators, like their mother. I love the bug symbolism in this!
Seriously, Frecklewish and her brother being moths, while Appledusk is a praying mantis and Mapleshade is a spider, including Ravenwing as a butterfly. This all is just great!

The way the eyes/hair/ears meld together and form bug-like shapes is so appealing. I need more bug cat hybrids. I love antenna too, the can convey so much emotion. So many cats in the background are equally appealing to the eye as well.
I like how Mapleshade was more portrayed like a Spider rather than a moth, showing she's with a different mindset then the others and how she bassicly makes a web of lies that catches Frecklewish (im guessing that was also symbolized in the opening scene? I like to imagine that despite the fact those kits did not belong to Birchface that Frecklwish still cared for them and that is why she watched to see if they made it across the river safely. She couldn't help them once they were taken away in the river, but she saw the riverclan cats and thought it was all okay- I feel she did truly care for the kits and was only betrayed by Mapleshades deception. Appledusk said at one point that the kits couldn't help that they were born, so I feel that Frecklewish doesn't blame them for anything and cared about them because it was Mapleshade who was at fault for what happened. I love the symbolism in the map and the little details- and the bug theme?? So beautiful. Everything about this is so amazing

i love how in 2:06 mapleshade's eyes look towards the right while her main eyes stay looking at frecklewish, it's a nice detail to see since often liars may look in a different direction whenever theyre lying, and that's what mapleshade is doing when she lies about birchface being the father of her kits
oh my lord. everything was absolutely stunning. from the designs to the details, every single animator did incredible. the song perfectly fits with frecklewish. the theme, colors, and emotion portrayed through the map is amazing. frecklewish’s happiness, to bitterness, greif, joy, and anger feels welled and unexplainable. she honestly has a perfectly valid point for being angry. her brother died, her best friend lied about him being her kits’ father, just to turn out thier real kin is appledusk of riverclan, the very tom who killed him. freckle is heartbroken, the only thing she has left now is her father and her clan. she never deserved to die, at least she could’ve gone to starclan, to be able to see birchface. the grief is portrayed beutifuly in this map. whenever i rewatch it i honestly nearly shed a tear.
She's a very flawed character..But honestly I sometimes see myself in her. I too have to deal with a lot of grief and it sometimes makes me lash out at those I cared about. I've always done so much for others yet it's always never enough.

I adore this map altogether. I loved the designs and the way that it dug past Mapleshade’s views. Frecklewish probably didn’t want the kits to die like Mapleshade said, she cared so deeply about the kits. But it’s been shown how these cats react to true kin heritage being revealed.
It showed her grief incredibly, and how she made herself believe a lie because she so desperately wanted her brother to still be with her. I like to think that deep down she always knew that the kits weren’t Birchface’s, but so desperately wished they were that she pushed aside every sign that they weren’t. And then when faced with the truth that she didn’t want to accept at first, she crumbled.
Everyone in Mapleshade’s vengeance should be looked under a microscope because they are all so morally grey it is incredibly interesting (Besides the kits and probably Reedshine and Ravenwing)
I'm a bit late, but I just wanted to say I love how clear this map tells the story! Even without reading the book, you can tell the characters apart so easily and tell whats happening and when plus how everything connects to each other! Thats really really rare with most warriors MAPs out there imo!
Dude this was amazing, I loved the freckle perspective on this, she really didn't deserve what happened to her. I get Oakstar getting a bad rep but he lost his son to Maples mate and then lost his daughter. Frecklewish really needed some attention as a notable background character. ALSO I LOOOOOVE THE BUG THEME. Bugs have a huge variety of morphologies and I thought it was clever to use a lot of bug symbolism, especially with mapleshade and appledusk. My favorite bugs are cicadas! This is now my comfort map, beautiful job Kirikerise and the participants of this lovely map

I watched your whole frecklewish video and I agreed with almost everythingggg
Not a lot of people in this community show frecklewish and birchface's relationship, her brother clearly meant the world to her.
It makes it worse if you can remember her mother Shinecloud died too
I first want to talk about frecklewish, the cat who is heavily demonized in the fandom
Frecklewish is by no means, perfect nor is she a horrible cat
And that's what makes her likeable in my eyes
Frecklewish at the start with her brother honestly made me feel so many emotions.
The animators did such a lovely job capturing Frecklewish and Birchface's relationship
The way they play at the beginning, the way they train together and the way birchface comforts Frecklewish is just beautiful
We get into more scenes with these wonderful siblings, starting with them joking to each other and frecklewish's proud expression as Birchface gets his first apprentice
Next we see the battle between thunderclan and riverclan
The battle is simple and fierce at first, but then we see Appledusk and Birchface
Birchface's stumble movements as he snarls at Appledusk is very well done and it looks like he's trying to stay on the rock

People say that it doesn't make sense that Frecklewish went to the Dark Forest and IN MY OPINION, Frecklewish didn't deserve to go to the Dark Forest but at the same time, she did. She said she would help to protect Mapleshade's cubs but she didn't do that when the truth was told to everyone, she attacked Mapleshade in front of the cubs, she attacked a clan member before leaving (I don't even know if that counts) and didn't help Mapleshade's kits when they were crossing the river.

This actually makes me feel bad for frecklewish in a way I never have. This map is absolutely amazing, not only the story but also the art, each map part is amazing, I honestly appreciate frecklewish a lot more now, she was truly sad when birchface died, and became overjoyed when she thought mapleshade was bearing his kits, so when she figured out the truth she was overwhelmed with rage causing some wrongdoings of course that doesn’t completely justify what she’s done but you get to see her perspective. This is amazing.

A cool detail that was here, in 1:43 there was a mantis eating a butterfly, which represents frecklewishes friend getting killed and then at 3:23 there was a butterfly in a web , that represented how frecklewish was manipulated by mapleshade

OUR PRECIOUS FRECKLEWISH! I love this AU so much, I can’t stop rewatching this! I honestly just adore the concept of the cats being part bug, like Mapleshade being a spider and when she gets mad cobwebs grow out of her fur. Everything about this is so perfectly expressed.
This map is far the most emotional map i'v ever watched, Freckle'wish and Maggotbelly are 2 things that mash well together, I burst into tears because of the emotion and amazing animation. Maggot belly will go down in history

I always kind of liked Freckle'Wish though I've never read Maple'Shade's vengeance.
I was incredibly confused and mad when the Erins decided to put her in the Dark Forest.
It's nice to finally see a map for Freckle'Wish, and I think the animators did a wonderful job conveying her emotions.
She kind of deserved to go to the Dark Forest and at the same time no, no, she didn't deserve to go there either (don't kill me)
I adore the bug theme of this map and I love how this MAP focuses on Frecklewish before Mapeshade and her kits were exiled.
I just noticed that the pattern on Mapleshades tail looks like the hour glass shape black widows have!! That’s such a cool design detail
Oh my gosh this whole thing looks so beautiful and sad.
Love how at the start, we can see the moth in the spider web. How in the eyes of Frecklewish the kits don't look as themselves, more similar to her brother.
The whole thing is incredibly sad and I think it's great that yes, while we can all recognize Frecklewish's flaws, we can also see how painful this whole thing must have been for her.
i know this MAP is a month old, i finally watched it after it being recommended to me and im glad i did! its so stunning, visuals, the bug-like characters, everything! even small details!
one thing i am confused on is the mention of suicide, that part is a bit blurry to me, my brain can't wrap around how it is i thought she just died as an elder in that bit

finally frecklewish getting positibe attention, i literally adore her story because i personally relate to her. the details of this map are OUTSTANDING, and i love the design choices as well!! especially how frecklewish's face is shaped like month wings

This MAP does a really good job at showing how much Frecklewish missed her brother and how she saw her brother in Mapleshade's kits because she thought they were his. With the amount of grief she was going through it's understandable why she'd lash out and feel sort of betrayed to find out they were Appledusk's. It still doesn't make what Frecklewish did justifiable, it just helps the viewer understand why she acted the way she did when she figured out the truth.

I love the fact that Mapleshade was a spider in a clan full of moths, butterflies, and other prettier insects, and that once Frecklewish realized the kits weren't full thunderclan they had that web imagery around them

an absolutely stunning MAP!! well done everyone! I used to dislike frecklewish for watching mapleshades kits drown, since I was (and still am!) a die-hard mapleshade fan, but this has made me see her in a different way and birch face was really important to her. I also love how mapleshade has a red-back spider marking on her tail and how cats were portrayed as bugs!! Again, well done everyone!!

This is an important MAP because it's probably the only one that focuses specifically on Frecklewish. She was a victim of circumstance traumatized by seeing her brother and his apprentice drown in the river and thought he would live one through Mapleshade's kits, just to realize Mapleshade lied to her.
The fact that the kit's appearance changes one the truth gets out is beautiful, and shows how Freacklewish wanted the kits to belong to her brother so much it made her see the kits differently, absolutely stunning
This was beautiful! Properly showing Frecklewish's view of Mapleshades Veagance was amazing.
She reallt had a hard life, especially when she thought her brother was living on through Mapleshade's kits.

I just know it’s going to be my favorite, first off as soon as I came across the map call, I LOVED the song choice, and then it had my favorite character, Mapleshade, and Frecklewishs story. Honestly this was such a creative and amazing map to host kirikerise!
AAAAH THIS CAME OUT SO WELL!! I've been in love with this map concept for so long, I'm so glad it finally came out!!! Everyone did spectacular with each part! The emotions and vibe each part has is wonderful and strong and each artist managed to capture the right energy wonderfully in each part! The colors and scenery makes this map have a lot of emotion, I absolutely adore it! (The little tree houses in the clan is such a nice touch as well!!)

I’m gonna start off by saying: THE THEME AND IDEA OF THIS MAP IS AMAZING! I never really liked frecklewish, as my personal opinion, but this map really makes me hate her a lot less lol! I believe she’s flawed and in grief, like MapleShade. She acted out but not as harsh as maple. Overall the art and theme of this map is so cool! The finished product looks amazing and the part flow together so well! :3. The designs are awesome too! Jeez, this has to get to be a really popular and well known map! :3. Happy Valentine’s Day! And thanks for helping me get a little bit of a better perspective on frekclewishes emotions the way I couldn’t grip myself :D ❤️❤️

One of the things I remember is that mapleshade’s murders (from what I've gathered from fan content) are also done out of anger and grief. We find people rooting for her and feeling sympathy for her. So why can't it be the other way around for Frecklerwish? I love the depth of her character and I'm so happy to see more content with her.
(Quick disclaimer I’m not saying Freckle is worse than Maple I’m just pointing out the double standards.)
Also amazing detail at 1:59 with Maple unsheathing her claws and pulling Apple's hand closer, it shows whom truly possessive Maple is.
I think it’s because others would take Mapleshade’s narrative or thoughts of her victims too literal. Like how she believes that Frecklewish had watched her kittens drown after Nettlepaw told her what she seen.

This was so good! Im not usually emotionally swayed often, and this swayed me for sure! I love how the point of view from Freckle`wish is so accurate! and the art and editing looks great!! all together an outstanding map
its so fricking beautiful I can't speak. I love how it focuses on Frecklewish's perspective on how she felt when Mapleshade told her that she's having kits, yet Mapleshade lies and says the father of her kits is Birchface, Frecklewish's brother. Its just a beautiful MAP and the song fits so well!
Mapleshade didn't say at any point who the father is, Frecklewish just asume it.

This has got to be the most accurate version of Frecklewish I've ever seen in the fandom.
She was tricked by Mapleshade into thinking the kits were legit, and lied to her about the true father.
She rightfully attacked Maple once she found out that the kits were the heirs of the one who killed her brother; Appledusk.
She didn't watch the kits drown; she saw them start to cross and left thinking the cats on the other side would help them cross without her. She had no idea about what happened until Maple confronted her about it. In fact, Maple blamed her for their deaths even though she was no longer there when it all happened.
I don’t think mapleshade lie to frecklewish like everyone in clan and even frecklewish assume mapleshade kit dad is birchface even though mapleshade never say anything about birchface being the father or either the clan see them dating at time (I know I am defending mapleshade but really thunderclan, what make you assume birchface is the father of those kit)

I mean with no evidence or proof that maple and birch were together it was kinda awkward and in the book freckle didn’t give mapleshade a chance to tell her anything. Queens don’t owe anyone an explanation of who their mates are. But both freckle and maple are equally horrible people they practically used each other in their own way.
