Hello Dunc,I make my own slow jigs, bit tricky to do at first, but about 1/4 the price (if that) The two hooks can be set along the lure at what length you want. Each rig needs a split ring and a solid ring, and the hooks are inline eye hooks. The trickiest things to get are the solid rings. The lure bodies are more or less flat and an equal shape at both ends, the idea is for the lures to flutter down equally and slowly like a fish that is in trouble. I rarely go less than 30lb braid, and use a clear line leader. I use aluminium flat bar for the lures. I got enough kit to do about 20 lures for a tenner.
Sounds interesting! I reckon slow jigs would be one of the harder lures to make and get the sink rate/action just as you want it. I could have bought a lifetimes worth of your lures with the cash i lost on this trip 😂
Have a nice light 2-12g set up I use for perch, jacks and chub. I'm looking forward to using it at the coast for this sort of thing. How do you stop the reel from rusting and going minging?

What make is the pouch you are using to store your soft plastics, is it designed for that or is it something your just using. I’m looking around for some lure boxes but I liked the look of that. Tight lines.
It's an Outdoor Research Back Country Organiser, had it lying around the house to use for off piste skiing but re-purposed it. Not sure why I didn't think of using it before
That nano braid is really good. I use the same stuff in 4lb in Australia for bream fishing. You cast a mile with it. Unfortunately we can't get it here anymore.
It's the first time I've used and so far i'm pretty impressed. The only thing is that using an FG knot for the leader seems to weaken the braid and I snapped it a couple of times when I was re-tying. Could be the way I them off rather than the braid. What knot do you use with it?
What a brilliant video mate, drone footage was great and the venue is outstanding. Commentary as ever was superb, even watching you coping with snags to discussing technique was invaluable to those of us who question whether we are doing things right or not. Next time I visit the castle I will strap a rod to each of the family 👍🏻
Thanks for the watch and comment as always. Not sure the National Trust will thank me too much for publicizing the little agreement they have with us anglers 😂

I love your vids, mate. I noticed you use a lot longer leader than what I do. What knot do you use to tie your leader on? My Albright knot is often getting stuck in my tip guide, so I leave it very short. Thank you for your reply in advance.

Yeah it's possible to fly fish there, my mate was giving it a go last year but had no luck. A sinking line and a big streamer would work a treat as long as the fish were close enough inshore. Thanks for the comment and tight lines!
Nice start to the year SL - well done. I enjoyed the aerial footage especially as it provided great context for the landscape you're fishing in. (A bit different to South Devon where I am!) Had it been me instead of you, I'd have lost the lures without the consolation of catching any fish! I'm tempted to get some of those Zetz metals: I bought some cheap Chinese metals thinking (wrongly, I suspect) that all metals are much of a muchness and, consequwntly, have caught bugger all with them. The Zetz are brilliant metals, all of the hardware, like split rings and hooks, is top quality, and a proven design since they're from Japan ( bought in the UK). They also have a larger profile due to being made out of a zinc alloy. Saying that, some of the cheap Chinese ones are canny as well, as long as you choose the right ones. I tend to find a shape/design that works in the expensive model then trawl through the Chinese sites looking for ones with a similar shape. There's also a guy in Cornwall who sells them on Instagram, not too expensive and work well- Mental Metals. Hope this helps, cheers for the comment and tight lines.👍🎣
Really good video. You have put a lot of effort in and it certainly pays off. Great shots and plenty of tackle and method information. You’ve come a long way from your earlier videos.
Can some1 explain to this freshwater fisherman how you fish this "jig"? How deep, how fast, doesnt it snag on rocks and kelp at the bottom? (we call soft plastics on leadball hook a jig). UPD 7:40
I was bouncing these jigs along the seabed and I lost loads on this trip, mainly because of the assist hooks. If you use a single hook then you don't use as many. Hope this helps
It's been a long time coming but really enjoyed it. Can't wait to get out again but we're getting hammered with swells and easterlies so might not be fro another week or two.
Nice drone footage, fly one myself, handy for scoping out new marks. Your brave leaving it hovering with all the sea birds about. Mines always getting chased, usually by oyster catchers.
I've just got it and looking forward to scouting some new areas with it. A couple of Fulmers where having a look at it but they weren't getting too close, still a bit of a heart-in-mouth moment. Not sure I'll be doing that once the razorbills arrive, I could see them smashing straight into it!
Great vid and music. I was just telling the missus I was going to fish there. I was told that there’s decent pollack on lures so thought I’d give it a go.
Good timing then! I've fished it a couple of times and it's not the most prolific mark for pollack but the one's you do get tend to be canny! Tight lines 👍🎣
Cheers mate, it's my first vid shot in 4k and first outing for the drone. Can't wait to get up to south east Scotland and give it a go. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets Obviously not for the sea but it's a game changer for pike, perch and trout in lochs. Also can't wait to get down to St Abbs too, but that east wind is so bloody cold right now.
Eyup Nathan. Good to see you back on a rock and catching again. Seen anything of Old Dog? No? Me neither. Must still be snoozing in his basket. May your drone stay dry at all times. Sithi after! Dave.
I've not seen him for a while, thought he might have been down your way? And thanks for the drone, this is the one you sent my way the other month, I tried sending it back but it just wouldn't fly past the Tyne for some reason. Tight lines
You’ve been putting a lot of effort in with the channel mate it looks great, drone shots were awesome. That’s my fave mark on our coast I’ve fished it for 30 years . Had some great days on the yak up there as well all around the point and in the bay. Thanks for the vid 👍
Cheers mate, it need a bit of sprucing up since I'd neglected it for so long. I've not fished it all that much but do love it up there, where do you launch the yak from when you're fishing the castle?
@@SlippyLimpets through the dunes from the steads, it’s a pain but no worse than heart attack hill at the boathouse really. It’s just wide enough. The beach does surf up really easily though so the alternative is ring the harbourmaster and go out of Craster.
I tend to use either approach shoes or old trail running shoes from climbing/hiking companies like Scarpa. They're designed for use on rocky terrain so work well for fishing. Hope this helps
Cheers mate, feels great to be chucking lures around again instead of standing around the beach caster. Can't wait till I can get back to my usual pollack marks tomorrow.
No worries👍It's not cheap, 6 quid per song and for only one video. I've only used the site once and not sure I would again unless I really wanted a particular track they had
Yeah I did, those Zetz lures are equipped Decoy hooks which are some of the best you can buy imo. Landed some decent fish on them despite their light gauge. Glad you liked the vid👍🎣

Wahey the Slipster......was wondering where you'd got to! Great video mate, loving the drone work and this has definitely inspired me to try LRF this year. You're probably right about the first fish, could have been a different video altogether if I'd been struck down by the first cast curse!!...give it lrf a go it makes little fish seem big!
I fished 3 down and 2 up in this vid but had a way fewer bites on the in incoming tide. I don't normally worry about the tide state, I can only fish when i have the time to go out, so fish regardless of the tide. Give it go and the more you do it the more you'll get used to it

Really good video. You have put a lot of effort in and it certainly pays off. Great shots and plenty of tackle and method information. You’ve come a long way from your earlier videos.
Thanks for the feed back really appreciate it👍🎣
Great way to start the year, the drone footage is awesome too.
Cheers mate, it was nice to get a start on the lure season
Can some1 explain to this freshwater fisherman how you fish this "jig"? How deep, how fast, doesnt it snag on rocks and kelp at the bottom? (we call soft plastics on leadball hook a jig). UPD 7:40
I was bouncing these jigs along the seabed and I lost loads on this trip, mainly because of the assist hooks. If you use a single hook then you don't use as many. Hope this helps
Good to see you back on the rocks with the lure gear again, nice session 👍
@@SlippyLimpets yes does take much to knock them out of the sky!
Is that dunstanburgh castle
Yep, it is
Great vid and music. I was just telling the missus I was going to fish there. I was told that there’s decent pollack on lures so thought I’d give it a go.
Good timing then! I've fished it a couple of times and it's not the most prolific mark for pollack but the one's you do get tend to be canny! Tight lines 👍🎣
Not a bad first session to start the year . Tight lines mate
stepping up the footage game mate, looks really good.. worth the effort. Great days fishing ;)
Cheers mate, it's my first vid shot in 4k and first outing for the drone. Can't wait to get up to south east Scotland and give it a go. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
@10:50 "pick it, pack it Fire it up" 🎵
You got it mate!! 👍
This whets my appetite, got my first float tube sesh planned for next week.
A float tube is something i haven't tried, yet. Hope you have a good one!
@@SlippyLimpets Obviously not for the sea but it's a game changer for pike, perch and trout in lochs.
Also can't wait to get down to St Abbs too, but that east wind is so bloody cold right now.
Top quality video wor kid. Drone footage is fantastic.
Thanks mate, glad you liked it
Sorry Random question but Where abouts did you park your car looked on Google maps bit cant see any carparks thanks
Park at Craster at the top end of the village and it's about a 30 minute walk from there. Hope this help
What’s the rod mate? Being tall I’m after something a bit longer, 05-10g suits my fishing perfectly, love savage gear👍
It's called a SG Light Range Fishing rod, picked it up in a sale but not sure they make it anymore
@@SlippyLimpets you might be right, I’m only finding SG “cc” rods, cheers tho mate👍
Olso what is the name of the Spinig Road place?
Not sure what you mean by spinig Road?
This bamburgh castle? And is it a low water spot?
It's Dunstanburgh castle and it you can fish it at any stage of the tide
Off topic, but I’m looking for a decent pair of quick drying trainers, what do you use?
I tend to use either approach shoes or old trail running shoes from climbing/hiking companies like Scarpa. They're designed for use on rocky terrain so work well for fishing. Hope this helps
Another nice one dude!! keep it up fella
Thanks, will do!
Brilliant stuff mate, great to see you back on the rocks! 🙌 🎣
Cheers mate, feels great to be chucking lures around again instead of standing around the beach caster. Can't wait till I can get back to my usual pollack marks tomorrow.
@@SlippyLimpets i bet mate! Look forward to seeing those pollock videos again! 👍🎣
How do you get moby as a sound track?? Love the videos !!!
A website called lickd.co it sells one time licences to popular music to use on RUclips.
Is it pricey ?? And is that for one video only ?? Thanks for getting back to me!
No worries👍It's not cheap, 6 quid per song and for only one video. I've only used the site once and not sure I would again unless I really wanted a particular track they had
Have you tried shads?
Yeah, normally my go-to soft plastic. Love the Slider grass shad, it's my favorite soft plastic
Terrific video. You say the hooks are good on the Zet cast, did you use the assist hooks they are advertised with?
Yeah I did, those Zetz lures are equipped Decoy hooks which are some of the best you can buy imo. Landed some decent fish on them despite their light gauge. Glad you liked the vid👍🎣
Nice video. I enjoyed watching 👀
Glad you enjoyed it👍
Cracking video mate.
Thanks 👍
Another superb video. Have you ever fished here in the winter for cod, seems like a good venue, deep etc
I had a couple of trips there this winter, landed a dog fish and a couple of small codling. There's a video of one of the trips in my winter shore fishing playlist, if you wantnto check it out 👍
Perfect conditions. What a fantastic place to fish 👍😁
It was a brilliant day although a lot colder than it appeared on camera, not complaining though. Tight lines🎣👍
Wahey the Slipster......was wondering where you'd got to!
Great video mate, loving the drone work and this has definitely inspired me to try LRF this year.
Great to see you getting some fish on the lures.......and probably was for the best......that you lost that first cast fish!!
Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next one. 🎣
You're probably right about the first fish, could have been a different video altogether if I'd been struck down by the first cast curse!!...give it lrf a go it makes little fish seem big!
Cracking video mate well worth waiting for
Try tipping hooks with small pieces of lug
To tempt a wrasse out
Tight lines bud
Cheers for the tip, i'll give that a go next time.
Drone footage looked great👍
Definitely adds a new dimension to filming fishing
Great session Slippery🍻
Cheers mate!! Thanks for watching and the comment 🍻 👍
what tide state are you fishing? thinking of trying Flamborough but never tried LRF before
I fished 3 down and 2 up in this vid but had a way fewer bites on the in incoming tide. I don't normally worry about the tide state, I can only fish when i have the time to go out, so fish regardless of the tide. Give it go and the more you do it the more you'll get used to it
@@SlippyLimpets thanks m8 next good weather weekend i'm out there! tight lines.
Hope you got amongst the fish!
@@SlippyLimpets I did (sort of) couple wrasse but enjoyed my self. very new to sea fishing (only been on a couple of charter previously) and this was my first LRF attempt but i think i have your vids to thank for not blanking! onwards and upwards :)
