Hard to make pentatonic stuff sound fresh, but this is really vocal and flowing. Just goes to show that simple concepts, when played with conviction, will always sound good. This dude is killer!
Both Martin and JP are essentially perfect players in every sense possible. It is indescribable being able to watch and listen to absolute mastery of a musical instrument, to experience that thing called a "virtuoso". It is pure bliss. I can only imagine what it must be like to actually BE that good. For me, it's enough to experience the joy of music thru the talent of others. Speaking of virtuosos... Valeriy Stepanov's musical gifts are astounding in the same way Martin's are... people should also check his channel out, in my humble opinion. Astounding musicianship and instrument mastery, truly a delight even if I don't know a word of russian language!!
actually ; Steve Morse on his fusion era. Alternate picking + chicken picking is a huge trademark on Morse sound - Martin and John were heavily influenced by him - but Martin sounds closer to Morse than petrucci does.
