  • Ajahn Brahm teaches that in meditation now is the most important time, the most important thing to do is to care and the most important thing is the thing right in front of you, whatever that meditation object is.

hello ajahn brahm, I love you, you are such a calming and beautiful person. could you do a video about young people using drugs to get enlightened, like with lsd or Mdma for example. what are your thoughts on it? do you think it's useful or dangerous?

Ajahn Brahm has a video on this topic :) "Sex and Booze | Ajahn Brahm | 01-07-2011". My own understanding is drugs like LSD & MDMA are usually considered dangerous since they take the mind further away from reality, which is the opposite direction from enlightenment.. Using such drugs is considered a violation of the 5th precept and thus to be avoided, unless it's prescribed by a proper doctor.

Dear Ajahn Brahm, I need your advice please, my country Ecuador just passed by a great earthquake, there is a huge devastation, hundreds dead thousands injury, I live in Miami we are collecting donations but I feel very frustrated because I can't help more, on the top of that I feel very angry every time when I look at my friends messages talking about praying to God instead to acting, helping, doing something, I don't know why I feel this way, my anger is coming from my stomach reaching my hearth and my mind, please dear Ajahm, tell me what to do and find my inner peace that I used to have.

+sfalconi4 I am not Ajahn, but perhaps I can help as I too have been dealing with some feelings of anger recently and have been using the teaching of the Buddha and meditation to cope.
The frustration and helplessness you feel in terms of the earthquake devastation is the work of your mind. Such disaster is part of the impermanence of life. There is nothing you can do about that as it is beyond your control. The only thing to do is accept it and let it be. If the aid you are giving is the best that you can do, then that is all you need do. Accept and let it be.
The anger towards your friends is again the work of your mind. Try not to judge and find faults with others. This can be hard as we are naturally programmed to do it due to the superficial society we live in, but one of the Buddha's teachings was, "seek not others faults, but your own". Try to put that into practice.
The Buddha teaches that a well controlled mind is the best thing you can have. In order to achieve that meditation is key. But there are other important things to have as well such as compassion and loving kindness.
I am not sure if you understand my point or not, but I definitely recommend looking up Mingyur Rinpoche on youtube and checking out some of his videos. He addresses anger, dealing with difficult people etc etc. I also recommend googling the Dhammapada and having a read. It should definitely open your mind and help with your issues.
May you be well and happy, may you be free from suffering.
