    Our family forestry business runs 2 of the little Duramax's, awesome trucks for constantly being on the road, cant beat the mileage consumption. I still run an '04 3/4 ton Cummins, as I manage a cutting crew, and use my crew cab as a tool carrier, while i either carry a fuel tank or have my 5th wheel flat deck trailer hauling my over-the-tire tracks and a portable 1300L tank for fuel.
    The one truck is a lease deal as it hits 50 000kms every year, so it gets traded constantly

Zouave don’t need to pull the fob out and press the open button, just press that small silver button in the door handle . . . . .

    My dad got a 24 Sierra 3/4 ton, he had an emissions code come up about 4 weeks after he took delivery of it. Sat at the dealership for 2 weeks because parts were on back order. He was not too happy 😂 He went from a 15 to 24, and the power difference is crazy. Not sure what the difference is from what you had to this, but nearly spun the tires first time driving it. LASTLY, the thing is a pain in the ass about the seatbelts, it just chimes and chimes and chimes, so he bought a clip that you clip into the seatbelt holder, and then the seatbelt clips into that. That way if you don’t put you seatbelt on it doesn’t chime, just got that from Amazon

    In the 1950s few farmers had pickups, they used their one car to haul sacks of feed and parts - in the trunk and backseats. Few pickups were even made (...International - IHC pickups became popular). Fun to see how advanced they've gotten, ha.

    Yeah, the new trucks are very prone to break down. Even the diesel's my neighbor and a couple of guys where I work have the new ones. They aint even a month old. And one needs an engine and 1 of the transmission went out already.

    • @RyanS493
      @RyanS493 10 месяцев назад

      I’m not calling you out. But I strongly disagree that the “new trucks” break down more than the old ones. I’ve put many miles on the “big 3” brands through the years and they are all reliable and then they all break at some point. Regular maintenance is key to keeping anything going and Mike will be the first one to tell you this.
      Besides, Mike doesn’t have to worry about breakdown repair costs because these will have warranty while he runs them.

    • @crandonborth
      @crandonborth 10 месяцев назад

      So what if it breaks down just get it fixed it’s under warranty.

    • @jb-vz4wb
      @jb-vz4wb 10 месяцев назад

      I have seen a bit of both! My relative has a '14 dodge 1500 with the 5.7 hemi. After 10 years and 210,000KM, all he has fixed is the A/C condenser, and 4wd actuator motor. No leaks at all, and still on original brake pads! Was very surprised and impressed. Maintenance was not kept up, but maybe the usage, like very low idle time, has prevented a lot of the typical issues like lifter failure from happening.
      I know exactly what you mean, and for a long time thought the same. Newer cars seem to break, and they cost a lot more in parts and labour to fix. I used to work at a dealership and saw that often. Personally I drive an old car, and it works good, just have to put up with fixing it every now and then. Cheers

      Dont worry, most farmers finance or lease most things now a days. Nobody owns anything. Like my neighbors said, as long as we make the minimum payments on time we're good lol.

    Actually - serious question - why don't you like the big rig style top lights and the sidemarkers on the 3500? I'd love to have something like that on a truck over here in europe... but you hardly even get the half ton version xD

    I been following you for awhile now and it seems to me that you don't stick to anything that long. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if you traded in your wife with a new wife, 👍😁👍😁👍😁👍😁👍. Just saying, lol, 🤣🤣🤣🤣!!

    As a European hearing that fuel efficiency is just amazing. But then again we pay 2.20 euro per liter... but you actually use them for heavy duty things and not just for show so I get it.
