6:04 Just my guess, but if I make the 3 the first time down, my defender will naturally think that I'm going to pull up again making the pump fake more effective.

FIBA, this isn't good form to teach. Every good shooter in the NBA dips the ball. It's like a golf swing. If you begin without a backswing, you don't have power.

My example with golf is true. Do I know every shooting advice? No. But look at the best NBA shooters. Look what they do. They DIP the ball. Don't deny it, they all do. Imagine if you cath the ball at eye level. You will notice you will have less power throwing the ball as far as possible, than if you catch the ball at hip level. I'm smart.

Ulysse, thanks for the respectful comment:) (i'm not that sensitive but anyway) I think the key as you say is to dip it when you do a catch and shoot. personally, I think i can relate to what your saying because nba players don't dip as much when coming around screens, indeed, for me however, i need a lot of power when i shoot.

@@VeguldenZilverling With this technique the power comes out of the ground via forward motion and flows through the body to the upper body and through to the release on the finger tips. The motion is in rhythm, balanced and always forward. The one, two step establishes a straight shooting line, balance and rhythm. Steph Curry and Paul George are 2 examples of players that shoot with this motion and flow. Not to say other techniques aren't more appropriate in some situations

Benjamin De Winter doesn’t mean they are using proper technique. They are elite athletes and can get away with not being 100% fundamentally sound

Totally agree, dipping is the natural motion for most NBA, WNBA and collegiate players. Look at any average-amazing shooter and they dip to some degree.
