Omg this is all I ever wanted from coffee! It always seemed too thin for the flavor! Thick beverages are my dream! 🤩 You know when you are little and not yet allowed coffee and it seems the greatest thing ever? And then at long last, you get to taste it and it shatters all your hopes and tastes sooo gross and bitter? I thought it would be thick! Adults used to talk about coffee like oh this one is robust, it's strong, or just soft and round. All adjectives that made me think it would be thick! Btw I'm 26 this revelation took me about 20 years... I could never put a finger on why it was so different from what I used to dream of.
There's actually a mexican drink called champurrado that is made during the winter and its super good. Instead of corn starch you use masa and you can do all sorts of flavors the popular one is chocolate
you can use that thickener in your blended frozen coffee drinks to make them stay smooth instead of separating into ice and liquid that leaves slush in the bottom of your cup
We use this for patients with dysphasia-nectar thick or honey thick. It’s always so sad when all they want is a cold drink of water and we can’t give it to them -but working in a hospice, we could ask our nurse to give it to them-and my gosh, makes a huge difference. There are so many things that these have to be added to - it always is great to have these videos bring light things people may not think about with our elderly - such as this in every drink.
@@Ladyinquisitor Hi, thicker liquids are harder to accidentally breathe in or "aspirate" so we give them to people with swallowing issues so they don't get what's called aspiration pneumonia
@@Ladyinquisitor It’s used for dysphagia, not dysphasia. That one stupid letter makes all the difference - dysphagia is difficulty swallowing, while dysphasia is difficulty speaking and understanding speech. It would have been really great if Evan and Katelyn would have gone in to this a little bit and brought some awareness to what Thick It is actually used for!
I think Katelyn's extra thick coffee is what it was supposed to be based off of the instructions. You guys accidentally said 5.5+5.5=9, instead of 11. Maybe the first one was weird because it was at a "between" texture that wasn't recommended. It might be cool to try this with a sugary, extra flavored milk and see if you can make an "ice cream" that can't give you a brain freeze.
The first coffee was much thicker than what we would consider "honey" consistency in the hospital -- it was closer to the next level, which is sometimes called "pudding" consistency. I think their scoops were a little generous, plus they used the amount intended for skim milk -- but they were putting it into a mixture of coffee, whole milk, and a non-dairy milk that already contains thickeners. All of those require LESS thickener than skim milk, so they really used way too much.
I had a dream once about this powder you mix with milk to make an “ice cream” (I think there was a slushie version too?) without freezing. It had thickener(s), I think powdered milk, stuff like that. I’ve been wanting it ever since. It had a weird texture but in a good way.
"It might be cool to try this with a sugary, extra flavored milk" You would be making instant pudding. Modified corn starch is exactly what they use to make instant pudding thick. Ice cream has the texture it has because of tiny ice crystals that melt as you eat it. You don't get ice cream by just making milk a thicker consistency.
My daughter has to add thickener fro her bottles to a moderately thick consistency, I was worried this was going to be a disappointment review…. But I can’t tell you how much Evan saying he likes it at the end made me smile. Thank you 😊
Interesting video. Shortly before my grandma passed away she needed to have liquids thickened to a honey consistency. Change of subject: I don't like coffee, but I find people's coffee routines interesting. When I was a kid my dad knew when I was really sick because I would complain that my parents' morning coffee smelled like poop.
I said this as well. Along with the fact that taking away necessary medical products especially implying a possible trend is detrimental. Especially since they could just make atole
Evan, Katelyn, I remember when you first showed the window pattern light background. I was so impressed. It’s definitely holding up. It’s still convincing us that it’s daytime even when you are filming at night.
Evan is courageous. He just dives into it, but frankly I did also ponder about the mousse thing! Would like to see you guys trying to test it out as a ingredient to help to its concistency! Sounds like it could do a bomb mousse if it goes unoticed on it.
This immediately brought to mind an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies where Ellie May cooks for Jed and he picks up a spoonful of something and says "that's just how I like my gravy; thick and brown." And Ellie May says "that's not gravy, that's the coffee. I clogged the pot with what I made this morning."
I blend my cup of coffee. It creates a lot of crema without any milk/creamer and rounds out the flavor in a similar way. It doesn't last for more than 10 minutes, but neither does the coffee.
I feel like there's the potential for some kind of ultimate crossover between this and the rice krispie treats but I don't know how that would work exactly. (Also it's sciiience tiiiime but as corn starch is non-Newtonian I think there's a chance that fluids containing Thick It should feel thicker the faster you stir them.)
I drink my coffee with half milk and half coffee too! I just like the taste. Also speaking of coffee flavored milk, there is actually a product where I like called coffee syrup where you can make your milk have a sweet coffee flavor. Its delicious.
that's because the viscosity (how thick it is) of liquids changes with temperature, which affects how it flows, develops bubbles and so on. I'm not sure if that applies to all liquids (probably doesn't), but it's definitely the case for some.
i am a PSW and I've had to give some residents thickened coffee and i have also made some at home(my dad had a problem swallowing for a while so he got some for his drinks, i thought it would be interesting to put in coffee. its a lot different when you make coffee without milk or cream). thick coffee while its good if you cant drink liquids or cant swallow well. you should try soups or clear liquids with it because it really throws off your brain when your drinking something you know should be thin and it is more scoopable.
LOL the beginning of this video was my actual entire coffee process this morning including the 1minute in the microwave... You are not alone KATELYN!! 😅😂
As someone who slowly sips on a coffee overtime, starting with a less hot cup of coffee and slowly sipping it as it cools is how I prefer it, but I hate if I mix cold milk into already cool coffee making the coffee too cold which might happen as I make 2-3 cups worth in one batch and just top off my cup before the pot cools too much. I really hope I'm not alone but I'm sure I am.
My grandma lived with us for roughly two years, before she passed. We eventually had to use a thickening agent one when she ate/drank, and I think we used the brand you were using in your video.
the UK thickens a lot more desserts with gelatin than I've experienced in the US, so am definitely feeling Katelyn - especially when taking a bite of cheesecake or something where I'm not expecting that texture.
Katelyn - I have my coffee lighter than you do. There’s no right and wrong for how much milk to have. Some people have no milk some have one kind some mix various kinds. Coffee is personal, don’t feel judged 😊
More milk means less caffeine. In some ways that's definitely better. Just calling it coffee becomes questionable at some point. And I think many would put that point at a ratio of about 50% milk. Declaring it coffee flavoured milk may not be a bad thing.
@@sebastianjost Tell that to the Italians lol. A cappuccino and caffè latte is more milk than coffee, yet they start with an espresso so the caffeine content is the same. Basically don't be a coffee snob lol.

@@lacytaylor1501 I remember a friend of mine made fun of me for getting the most out of my k-cup, which made it watery. My mom used to give me white coffee as a kid. Basically milk with a bit of coffee in it. I don't think it was that much whiter. Mostly because I use a lot of cream/sugary creamer/powdered creamer in mine now. When I even drink it. Usually I just drink a diet coke in the mornings. Not sure which is healthier diet coke or sugary coffee. I really should just switch to water but I get cranky without my diet coke. Or at least that's what I tell people.

Thank you Evan and Katelyn for spreading the thick it message. I just recommended this product to my friend who's caring for an elderly person who can't have liquid.
After seeing the title I assumed it was another of Katelyn's cursed ideas. I think you should try making thick water. I wonder if you could then taste the powder because water doesn't really have a flavor or if it would just be really cursed? You should also try a selection of thick sodas. Yum.
I wonder how thickened iced matcha would taste. I don't like coffee even though I am a barista (at a hospital). I've helped out on patient line, putting patients trays together. I've had to use a thickening agent in different drinks. The thickening agent we used was a liquid/gel.
Funny, I take protein shakes and I am in a constant battle against THICK lol. I want chocolate milk, not chocolate shake. So this is like the stuff of nightmares.
As a person that works in a hospital kitchen and have used the thickener, there are multiple types of thickeners. Some are for flavoring and others work better at different temperatures. One is meant for cold foods, another is for hot foods and we have a third for coffee and a fourth for decaf coffee. Edit: for mixing we use an industrial kitchen blender so we won’t end with clumps in the mix like what you get with hand mixing.
It's okay Katelyn, you're not alone. I use creamer and almond milk in my coffee. Also, if you don't put honey in your homemade coffee like she did, you're missing out! ❤
Soda aside, congrats, you have literally just reinvented tapioca pudding and "condensed" soup, both of which are primarily thickened with some kind of starch. But that's not a reason to not do it. It's probably extra reason to yes, absolutely do it, whether with this or just with some other starch products. Especially the first one. I think you'd want more tapioca pearls than they'll give you, but a matcha or black tea tapioca pudding sounds amazing.
I’m glad you started the video by saying that thick it is used to thicken liquids for people with certain medical conditions. Because I have seen a lot of people use thick it and blend meals together and say how gross it is. But for people like myself who have to blend meals into purée form to eat and thicken liquids to avoid having a NG or other feeling tube placed it’s a way of life and we find these things helpful and are extremely grateful for them. I have been able to doge tubes for now and am grateful. All I ask is please don’t shine negative light on products like this because when people started these trends I have gotten a lot of OMG that’s so gross how can you eat that someone on RUclips did it and throw up it was so bad. Which puts bad feelings towards food around. I had puréed pizza in the hospital as one of the meals and loved it and asked how to make it at home. I made it and even though it’s delicious and tastes just like pizza because that is what it is some people gave me a hard time for wasting good pizza and were grossed out even though if I never told you what it was you would think it was some kind of thick tomato and cheese soup. There is a lot of stuff around food and people with swallowing problems especially in family context around meals and if we should get soda this week or that. Your opening was good but remember these things are not made to be taken to the extreme and when you do I like the fact that he said you wanted to make it extreme when it tasted really bad. I’m not trying to be preachy I just want you to know that what you post gets seen by many people and taking something that is strange to you and many others but is a medical supply you should also take into consideration the fact that formula for tube feeding is in short supply so some who can are going back to eating what they can and causing trends can cause that medical supply that is always already at risk of short supply to become extremely rare for those who need it to get. There are preferences in brands and types of thickeners for different swallow problems and running low in some can cause people to switch to brands that don’t work as well and can cause serious problems. Just food for thought. It’s just a worry that I have since if I can’t eat or drink that means IV feeds (TPN) and IV fluids where people who have “normal” swallows just try different foods. Sorry I didn’t know why this bothers me so much because you were so good about it. But you showed up in my feed for the first time today because this has been put into the category of other RUclipsrs I watch and the person it said it was like was “simply not logical” which has a huge following herself.
I agree with you. This hits different if you have to use it yourself or to feed a loved one. You wouldn't use a wheelchair for a day in a RUclips video and complain about how "gross" it is. I love E+K but this one misses the mark. 🙁
hey to everyone who seen this trend going around the internet. I know it might be fun to try but please remember that there are people who are replying on such products to consume food and so on. so if you're wanting to try this out just for a short joke please be mindful :)
Yeah, I kinda missed an end statement that brought it back to the intended use of the product. And that it's great it exists. It started off great mentioning what the product is used for. But then they kinda got lost in the sauce. It happens.
Yeah back when this trend was super hot there was actually shortages of the stuff, which is not great for people who actually need it. Also the whole trend seems a bit like making fun of the disabled. Sorry if the same thing as wheeling around on wheelchairs being like "oh my gosh isn't this AWFUL it's so TERRIBLE" just kinda... guache and mean spirited.
@@driverjayne yeah I mean no harm people can do what they want but you also have to buy it in a gallon or so I believe so there's always the bigger part you're not gonna use and probably gonna throw away to be thought of. :/
Modified corn starch is what they use in instant pudding mixes, just add liquid and stir, calcium can interfere with and delay the gelation but it’ll work.
Looks exactly like Dutch Vla! A very ordinary desert that many people have for breakfast and often after dinner. Comes in every flavour here, even coffee :) (we do definitely eat it cold)
The microwave coffee thing is quite normal in my household. Bit its because the people in my house dont want to waste coffee, so they save it fpr the next day and heat it back up. They do this with all kinds of coffee. Even stuff from like dutch bros or starbucks
My wife used to work at a long-term care facility and brought some of that stuff to a party once. If you think coffee is off-putting, try thickening something carbonated. We did Cherry Coke Zero, it was... interesting.
Speaking of hearing hot and cold liquid... I was recently thinking about how you can smell cold, when someone comes in from outside and it's a crisp day, you can definately smell it
thicken EVERYTHING 😂😂😂 in all seriousness though, I think thick hot chocolate would be nice, maybe even thick juice. thick soda would be... interesting? oh, it might make a great milkshake, though? what about thick tea?! I wanna know 😂
I watched this at 6.30 in the morning before going to work (I work in a coffee shop), I’m definitely going to bring up serving thick coffee with my boss
I used to be a carer/support worker in the uk, we would use this a lot, especially when people had Alzheimer’s, Huntingtons, MS, etc. I have tried it many times to ensure i had the right consistency for that certain patient because everyone is different right! it definitely helps those that need it.
I usually put condensed milk instead of milk, milk, because condensed milk is more common in my household than pure milk, but when I do put milk I make it exactly like katelyn does, including the blasphemous 1minute warming up in the microwave, no more, no less 😂 I feel like I found a comrade😆
As a fun sound experiment, you should try the Allassonic Effect. Basically, when you put instant coffee / hot chocolate in hot water and stir and then tap the bottom of you mug with a spoon (inside), at regular intervals, the pitch of the sound slowly increases. I think it's because of air bubbles created by mixing powder and hot water. I love doing that in the morning with my coffee ! It reminds me of Shepard's tone and tickles my brain haha
I’m so glad you guys actually said what the thickener is for, but also PLEASE don’t waste it!!! There are people who actually need it to survive so it shouldn’t become a trend. Great video though!
I usually don’t recommend heating in a microwave because the coffee oils can burn and that’s not a good taste. But with the milk it’s not too bad and just doing it slow to build up the temp, like 30 sec intervals and stirring after every interval, it helps!
Polish culture has something called "budyń". It's like pudding but it's more honey in texture. This coffee looks like budyń. We eat budyń in a bowl with a spoon. It's usually vanila or chocolate but we have other flavours like salted caramel, stawberry, raspberry, gingerbread, blueberry. I'm quite sure you just made coffee budyń
The sound difference of different temperatured liquids being poured is true, because hotter liquid has more little bubbly things going on. It has like a deeper sound, and colder liquids have a higher pitch I think. When I first heard this I wasn’t surprised coz even tho I wasn’t really conscious of it before, it made sense to me that I could hear the difference even if I never realized it before.
Apparently the reason you can "tell the difference" between something hot or cold being poured is because hot is usually poured into ceramic, while just regular glass for cold things, making them sound slightly different.
Most of my patients that need thickener because they struggle to swallow would rather risk choking than put thickener in their tea. Might be because tea is sacred in the UK.
2:50 This is so true. The water heater/water pressure in my apartment is terrible, so when I'm showering, the water will sometimes just randomly come out hotter than lava. I can HEAR IT ABOUT TO HAPPEN. I've caught myself instinctively reaching up and moving the shower head away.
Hear me out. Could you not use a thickener and then whip it to a foamy consistency, then freeze/air dry or bake it to get some kind of crispy coffee snack?

There's a reason we always use a calculator for anything important and have someone check our work
@@soonerjohn06 So you're saying making thick coffee isn't important😤😜
I was looking for a comment calling that out!
Same!!!! As engineers myself, I was like, what……..?!?
Omg this is all I ever wanted from coffee! It always seemed too thin for the flavor!
Thick beverages are my dream! 🤩
You know when you are little and not yet allowed coffee and it seems the greatest thing ever? And then at long last, you get to taste it and it shatters all your hopes and tastes sooo gross and bitter? I thought it would be thick!
Adults used to talk about coffee like oh this one is robust, it's strong, or just soft and round. All adjectives that made me think it would be thick!
Btw I'm 26 this revelation took me about 20 years... I could never put a finger on why it was so different from what I used to dream of.
personally, this is why coffee ice cream is awesome. I agree on the thicker drinks- smoothies, puddings, etc.
You should make thick cereal and thick baked beans. Truly cursed. 😂
Thick rice crispies!!
Thick version of hot coco
Thicc baked beans is so cursed
YES.
Thick pea soup
There's actually a mexican drink called champurrado that is made during the winter and its super good. Instead of corn starch you use masa and you can do all sorts of flavors the popular one is chocolate
you can use that thickener in your blended frozen coffee drinks to make them stay smooth instead of separating into ice and liquid that leaves slush in the bottom of your cup
At least with xanthan gum, a little just makes it more cohesive, but I overdid it once and got basically a latte mousse and it was still delicious.
May i ask why people with dysphasia need this? I googled dysphasia and i don’t see the correlation 😢
@@Ladyinquisitor Hi, thicker liquids are harder to accidentally breathe in or "aspirate" so we give them to people with swallowing issues so they don't get what's called aspiration pneumonia
@@ktbug42795 ohh I see! Thank you for taking the time to explain.
@@sisabell ohhh!! Okay, I see!!
Theyll all be quite weird regardless; thick-it just makes things weird
"It might be cool to try this with a sugary, extra flavored milk"
You would be making instant pudding. Modified corn starch is exactly what they use to make instant pudding thick. Ice cream has the texture it has because of tiny ice crystals that melt as you eat it. You don't get ice cream by just making milk a thicker consistency.
I think he said when he read the thing that it took longer for milk to get thick, but then later said they needed to put in extra when it was milk.
My daughter has to add thickener fro her bottles to a moderately thick consistency, I was worried this was going to be a disappointment review…. But I can’t tell you how much Evan saying he likes it at the end made me smile. Thank you 😊
I am smiling so much (with a little tear) because of Evan's shirt 🥲🥲

Looked for the comment.
Was not dissapointed!
PS: I'm the melon man!
One of these days we’re gonna tune into a livestream and Evan is gonna have a whole bucket of Thick Coffee to snack on.
Yall are very genuine. Yall don't act at all. It's very nice to see genuine youtubers just being themselves in a video.
Guys, I think you should've just made Mexican Atole. It's basically the same thing, a hot drink made with cornstarch.
Thank you, I was trying to remember the drink that was like this.
I said this as well. Along with the fact that taking away necessary medical products especially implying a possible trend is detrimental. Especially since they could just make atole
I heard of a Native American version where it's coffee and a specific type of flour! I've seen EmmyMade make it once, looked interesting!

Evan, Katelyn, I remember when you first showed the window pattern light background. I was so impressed. It’s definitely holding up. It’s still convincing us that it’s daytime even when you are filming at night.
I need more of this, we need a series. "Will it thick it?"
That sounds like something GMM would do lol
@@JennL919 I was about to comment that!
🎶do do do do, we might regret it, but will it thick-it? lets find out!🎶
Evan is courageous.
@RhondavWest Your comment also reminds me of Green Acres and Lisa Douglas' syrupy-thick coffee 😄
Haha maybe we will find a marshmallow replacement after all
@@EvanAndKatelyn2 You have basically invented edible resin 🤣🤣
Yay! Who brought the Rice Thickies Treats?!
Can we add a tapioca trial? Tapioca tastes much better than corn starch!
I drink my coffee with half milk and half coffee too! I just like the taste.
Also speaking of coffee flavored milk, there is actually a product where I like called coffee syrup where you can make your milk have a sweet coffee flavor. Its delicious.
Love the idea of an auditory challenge. And, yes, hot & cold liquid sound different.
that's because the viscosity (how thick it is) of liquids changes with temperature, which affects how it flows, develops bubbles and so on.
I'm not sure if that applies to all liquids (probably doesn't), but it's definitely the case for some.
Finally someone else who used honey in coffee! Everyone I know looks at me like I've grown a second head for doing that 🤣
My husband suggests tea, but my chaotic evil heart is screaming try it with bovril 😂

Bovril would be brilliant for them to try this with
wouldn't that just taste like gravy?
@@LittleDergon probably.
My American self had to google what that is, and I’m both intrigued and disturbed.
i am a PSW and I've had to give some residents thickened coffee and i have also made some at home(my dad had a problem swallowing for a while so he got some for his drinks, i thought it would be interesting to put in coffee. its a lot different when you make coffee without milk or cream). thick coffee while its good if you cant drink liquids or cant swallow well. you should try soups or clear liquids with it because it really throws off your brain when your drinking something you know should be thin and it is more scoopable.
LOL the beginning of this video was my actual entire coffee process this morning including the 1minute in the microwave... You are not alone KATELYN!! 😅😂
You can heat up the milk while making the coffee.
That way both things are done in parallel and you get your hot coffee with lots of milk faster.
You both need to get a milk frother and just make latte's 😂 10000x better than microwaved milk
I also add a lot of creamer to my coffee, to the point that when my mom sees me making it she asks “do you want some coffee with your creamer?”
Speech Language Pathologist here-diagnosing and treating dysphagia is what I do! I love y’all’s channels and totally geeked out when I found this! Scientists keep doing cool things and have developed gel thickeners available now in addition to the older school powder thickeners that are clear and tasteless and do the same thing in about 30 seconds and don’t keep thickening over time!
So many beverages you could try. Wine would be my suggestion. It would be soooo weird!
@4:00 lmao! Evans face is like, "Ain't nobody got time to steam some milk."
I love how Katelyn is like, "Nope, don't like that." And Evans like, "This is fine." lmao
Auditory challenge: does using a glass against a door or wall and pressing to your ear actually make what's on the other side louder?
I’m guessing it would (in anticipation for this to make it to a livestream), because of echos and sound waves ricocheting around the glass. I’ve always thought it helped, at least
to heat your milk, there is also little milk foamers, than can also simply heat and stir the milk instead of foaming. they don't take up a lot of space and are great to have.
Coffee is serious and unique business, Katelyn was right to defend her coffee choices
I swear some coffee people ( and also tea people) can be so hostile sometimes. I love going on Tiktok to watch people make their preferred coffee drink and people are sometimes up in arms if the coffee isn't just straight hot bitter bean juice that's brewed dark as the abyss...
@@lacytaylor1501 I remember a friend of mine made fun of me for getting the most out of my k-cup, which made it watery. It being watery also made it turn really light when I poured in the half-and-half, even though I really don’t use much. She’s one of those “I drink it black” snobs, and thought it was some kind of laughing moment when I used enough milk in watery coffee to make it light. However, she likes to drink the nasty coffee offered at her church that was brewed sloppily with cheap coffee and left to sit for hours on a countertop after service, so I really don’t feel that bad about my watery k-cup.
@@DannyDevitoOffical-TrustMeBro I don't even know what they think they are bragging about when they are all like ' I only drink straight black dark roast ' or anything like that. It reminds me of people who only drink beer and go off on people who drink more colorful and fruity drinks, like good for you and your case of mildly alcoholic grass juice, I'mma be plastered with like three of these amazing tasting drinks. It tastes good and I get all the benefits I'm wanting from drink this faster than you will...
Katelyn don't feel bad, your 1/3 2/3 coffee is exactly the same way I used to do it, with the honey and even down to having to immediately microwave it because all the milk made it instantly cold.
Although by "used to" I mean I was like in middle school😄
My mom used to give me white coffee as a kid. Basically milk with a bit of coffee in it. I don't think it was that much whiter.
Mostly because I use a lot of cream/sugary creamer/powdered creamer in mine now. When I even drink it. Usually I just drink a diet coke in the mornings. Not sure which is healthier diet coke or sugary coffee. I really should just switch to water but I get cranky without my diet coke. Or at least that's what I tell people.
My new favorite couple. Came to find resin inspo and found some legends!!!! 😂 I love Evan and Kaitlyns energy...... ideas...I just love everything about them.
Yum.
I have to use this and you can absolutely taste it in water lol. It's not *bad* but you definitely go "that's not plain water".
If you try with soda and thick it be careful. The carbonation and the thick it cause some massive expansion quickly
Waiting for coffee, with Evan and Katelyn, yeah!
It's okay Katelyn, you're not alone. I use creamer and almond milk in my coffee. Also, if you don't put honey in your homemade coffee like she did, you're missing out! ❤
5:13 Evan’s math skills are AmAzInG 🤣🤣
I would like to see you guys thicken EVERYTHING. Boba milk tea? Soda? SOUP?
Thick soda sounds so cursed. What would happen to the bubbles?
@@dolphin64575 thick soda is sooo cursed, ive had it! So difficult to mix and tastes like an abomination
I imagine if you put enough sugar into this it might be nice. Kinda like a coffee flavored pudding or jello.
The thickener contains maltodextrin so it should already be somewhat sweeter :)
I love your coffee blending Katelyn. My coffee is cold- 1/3 cold brew, 1/3 oat milk, 1/3 milk and usually some sweet syrup.
Imagine if they tried adding the powder to like soda or something like that to see what type of texture they would get
You get a mentos and Diet Coke effect. The powder disrupts the surface tension too much.
Looks exactly like Dutch Vla! A very ordinary desert that many people have for breakfast and often after dinner. Comes in every flavour here, even coffee :) (we do definitely eat it cold)
I really appreciate that Evan is wearing an Unus Annus shirt for this video 😂
I thought the same thing! memento mori
@2:45 YES! I was wondering if this was the case! Nice~
A tickened carbonated thing would be interesting to see
It causes it to go flat. Doesn't really work well.
If you add the thickener to the soda it will fizz over. While hilarious to see people do its a pain to clean lol
The microwave coffee thing is quite normal in my household. Bit its because the people in my house dont want to waste coffee, so they save it fpr the next day and heat it back up. They do this with all kinds of coffee. Even stuff from like dutch bros or starbucks
you crack me up so much I love you guys! I love my coffee light and sweet so i get you, Katelyn! ☕🤎 You made coffee pudding! 😋
My wife used to work at a long-term care facility and brought some of that stuff to a party once. If you think coffee is off-putting, try thickening something carbonated. We did Cherry Coke Zero, it was... interesting.

This is excellent! I can tell my two cats apart by their meows but I don't know how much that extends to other cats.
Speaking of hearing hot and cold liquid... I was recently thinking about how you can smell cold, when someone comes in from outside and it's a crisp day, you can definately smell it

Thick wine immediately comes to mind
I watched this at 6.30 in the morning before going to work (I work in a coffee shop), I’m definitely going to bring up serving thick coffee with my boss
I love watching them make fun videos, just messing around being themselves in a different style of video
I used to be a carer/support worker in the uk, we would use this a lot, especially when people had Alzheimer’s, Huntingtons, MS, etc. I have tried it many times to ensure i had the right consistency for that certain patient because everyone is different right! it definitely helps those that need it.
I usually put condensed milk instead of milk, milk, because condensed milk is more common in my household than pure milk, but when I do put milk I make it exactly like katelyn does, including the blasphemous 1minute warming up in the microwave, no more, no less 😂 I feel like I found a comrade😆
as a CNA, you guys are being so precise lol i just dump & stir until it looks right
Now this is going to be an interesting video :D
As a fun sound experiment, you should try the Allassonic Effect. Basically, when you put instant coffee / hot chocolate in hot water and stir and then tap the bottom of you mug with a spoon (inside), at regular intervals, the pitch of the sound slowly increases. I think it's because of air bubbles created by mixing powder and hot water. I love doing that in the morning with my coffee ! It reminds me of Shepard's tone and tickles my brain haha
UNUS ANNUS SHIRT👀
I had to use thickener & simplythick instead of the powdered gives it a different texture. Also doesn't change the flavor
It reminded me of what we in the Netherlands call 'vla' as well. Most popular are vanilla and chocolate as well, so might be the same concept?
The sound difference of different temperatured liquids being poured is true, because hotter liquid has more little bubbly things going on. It has like a deeper sound, and colder liquids have a higher pitch I think. When I first heard this I wasn’t surprised coz even tho I wasn’t really conscious of it before, it made sense to me that I could hear the difference even if I never realized it before.
Love seeing Evan rep the Unus Annus shirt in a Thick It video
Apparently the reason you can "tell the difference" between something hot or cold being poured is because hot is usually poured into ceramic, while just regular glass for cold things, making them sound slightly different.
Most of my patients that need thickener because they struggle to swallow would rather risk choking than put thickener in their tea. Might be because tea is sacred in the UK.
I love you guys in this episode. You're my favorite RUclips couple hands down! ❤
