Reinhard Mey, Konstantin Wecker and Hannes Wader are the three musketeers or kings of the singer-songwriter scene of the 70's and 80's. This song was written by Hannes and there is a beautyfull live performance on yt where all three perform this song.
I already knew the song, I once went through a phase where I heard some of Reinhard's songs. The older I get, the more these songs affect me and they become more and more important as human history progresses. A truly exceptional songwriter. We should hear more Reinhard Mey songs here and spread them around the world at least a little...
Reinhard is a master of words and Emotion. I am a big Fan and have all of his albums. He released more than 50. The woman u referred 2 in "Nein meine Söhne geb ich nichtt" is Luci van Org a former member of the pop duo Lucilectric. It is good ⁸
Konstantin Wecker used to be a pretty wellknown singer /songwriter in the 70ties /early 80ies. Please don't miss "Nein ich lass dich nicht allein" by Reinhard Mey. No political one but a very sad one for a dying friend. As you once said before, he is such a good story teller and I am sure you will like it a lot! (There are English subtitles!) Es ist an der Zeit is today more important than ever! 😒Mankind will never learn 😢😢😢But as we say in Germany, Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt! Thanks for your reaction ❤
This is actually a sort of cover version. The original was written by Scottish/Australian Singer Songwriter Eric Bogle. The original was called "Green fields of France". Konstantin Wecker was the German Singer Songwriter who translated, or rather re-wrote the text in German. Reinhard Mey (pronounced "May") and Konstantin Wecker, together with a third guy, Hannes Wader, were quite the influential trio in the late 1960s to mid 70s in Germany. Comparable, perhaps, to Pete Seeger in the US. (acutally, R. Mey and H. Wader did loads of gigs together, until they realized that their styles were so different that they had kind of a "Reinhard" audience and a "Hannes" Audience that began to dislike each other. At that point they parted ways concert wise, but stayed friends privately.)
The Melodie is a cover and the theme of war. But the two Songs couldn't be more different concerning their message. And the german version is from Hannes Wader not from Konstantin Wecker.
Nope! Same massage! Pacifism! Anti - war!wader has a tedecy to socialism! Mey is a mix between left utopia❤ and ralism. Wecker is anarchist....pacifism! No ism....at all!
My country Belgium, is full of war-graves of all the countries that fought their wars up here. The enemy was not the boy, your age, on the other side who lays on another graveyard. But those who send you up here. Militarism is not glorious but evil.
Greetings and Love from Germany again 💚...you're unbelieveable, serious...when i think bout what we have done to you..we gave you Rammstein and got you addicted, we gave you 'Loriot' and made you literally laugh your head off, we gave you videos of one of the most beautiful countries on this planet (our country) and gave you the endless desire to leave the shitty states and to become a German citizen. With 'Mey & Friends' we gave you so many heartbreaking masterpieces from the best musicians ever and, who would have thought, even made you cry in front of the camera, honestly, i'm really sorry for that😢...but you, it's hard to believe, you still stand by Germany, You hardly ever complained about it and you didn't say one evil word about us. But I could actually have guessed it, that's your die-hard American patriotism speaking ☺. hehe, have a peaceful one, my dear friend 😅
It was me who had this request. And why? Because D is an honest person (I think)...who really hears things as they are and just reacts. No tears that are scripted and no “woah” even though it doesn't feel that way. Thanks D. Keep up the good work. Your reactions are great.

A liitle correction! Wader (Wader , Wecker May - the big three of german songwriters and poets who stand for peace and tlerance) wrote the german lyrics! It' a cover from eric bogle "green fields of france!" For me the most emotinal version is the dropkick murphys one! Btw big song ! Big meaning! If german or englisch! But english original lyrics are stronger!
I would love to...but, sorry...i really don't have the time to do so...see, there are around 7,000 different languages, not including the countless dialects. It is what it is...
This is a translation/German cover of "The Green Fields of France", aka "Willie McBride". There are several versions out there; my favorite is by The Corries, here: ruclips.net/video/UyiLfSHSqds/видео.html Even the original is a very early anti-war song. Both Reinhard Mey and Konstantin Wecker are of the first generation of singer/songwriters, called "Liedermacher" (song crafters) in Germany that rose to fame since the 1960s. They're both still going. And another suggestion for you by Reinhard Mey, "Sei wachsam" (Be aware); here: ruclips.net/video/xCCoR7V9BOo/видео.html -- very relevant in this time of elections everywhere!
Konstantin Wecker is also known as Koks_tantin (Coke_stantine) Wecker. According to his own statement, he consumed up to seven grams of freebase/cocaine base and cocaine daily from 1994 until his arrest on November 29, 1995 and suffered from delusions.
Reinhard Mey is a brilliant song-poet, in my opinion one of the best singers for the peace Germany ever had. 👍
We should not forget that this song was written by Hannes Wader. Another important singer/songwriter of this generation. They are friends.
You are right. There is also a video with the three of them. 😊
Yeah, I bet Hannes doesn't mind. I love all three. Reinhard, Hannes und Konstantin. ❤
Not to forget that it's a loose translation of Green Fields of France.
Born in 1976, grown up with Reinard May. He always speaks/sings the truth with every word. So many awesome songs! Thx for reacting! 💚
I can recomment every song of Reinhard Mey.
Damn Ninjas cutting onions next to me.

More precisely, it was *translated* by Hannes Wader. He only rewrote the chorus. The original song is called "Green Fields of France" by Eric Bogle.
@@Horrrrrrrrst well, it's not really a translation, it's more a free interpretation by Hannes Wader based on the song by Eric Bogle.
Das geht so tief, sehr emotional!

Dear friend, I knew, you would do this song sometimes. Reinhard and Konstantin are the most powerful singers against war in German language.
Imagine it's war and no one goes. What would they do? Can then throw their money at each other in their villas
Konstantin Wecker is also a Singer/songwriter with really good texts

You could also watch Udo Lindenberg "Wozu Sind Kriege Da" from the 1980s. Great song, as well.
It is too early in the morning for someone to be cutting onions....!
