Basically the game goes to the company level. Each regiment is made of companies. The American revolution was smaller in scale to the civil war. The largest battle of the revolution had a total of 27000 soldiers.
Yeah its company level, The American revolution a company was about 60 men (without officers), regiment was 10 company's (one light one grenadier 8 line) about 700 men some went as high as 1000 like the scots regiment. The game does 6 slots about 120 men each so two company's. and Great Siege of Gibraltar 72500 was the biggest battle of the war of independence.
My understanding is that the Battle of Antietam from the ACW had more casualties in 1 day than the losses of the entire 10 years of the Revolution. So yeah, the scale matters.

Not a big fan. British line infantry should have a massive advantage in melee combat due to the fact that British regulars were issued with bayonets. Especially in the early years of the Revolution, US forces (especially militia) generally lacked bayonets. This is why the Americans often broke in the face of British bayonet charges and almost always were defeated handily when the British did close into hand-to-hand combat (don't believe the Hollywood bull). No, the battles are not scripted. You fight each battle with what you bring to the fight in the larger map, and you can fight anywhere, any time. And yes, you can zoom in.
I dont think these quick victories are a bug. I like this mechanic because its actually realistic. Allowing the AI to retreat and save as many soldies as possible. In total war we are always completely wiping out enemy stacks. Casualty rates were never so high in reality.
Overall it looks like it has a lot of promise. I like the campaign map and mechanics even though some tweaking will obviously take place. For the battles I think I'd like to see the range of units increased a bit but obviously decreasing accuracy the further out you are. Overall for ranged combat I'd like to see more casualties with each volley. Saw many examples of a unit right next to the enemy and inflicting 1-3 casualties from point blank range. I think increasing unit ranges will help negate charges to a degree since you'll have to withstand up to 2 volleys with at least one being very close and devasting. Having increased range will also encourage more creative maneuvering of units. Excited to see more and what updates we'll get.
I mean if you look at the actual battles in the real life war plenty of them were decided by bayonet charges and its unlikely you’ll be able to achieve the same firepower as you do in Ultimate general civil war
Yeah the range looked quite low, and I know guns are inaccurate but definitely should hit at least half of your shots if they're like mid charge a couple feet infront of you
@@gavinsepicgaming9835 you’d be surprised, quite a lot of people without training will shoot high, muskets of this period are HEAVY and thus hard to hold steady in battle conditions. Of course the big cause of inaccuracy in these battles is actually just smoke from the guns, something which is understandably extremely difficult for a game to simulate(smokeless power arguably did far more to improve accuracy and range of small arms than rifling)
what is a shame about ultimate general is the limited scale of the game and low replayability. they should focus on an entire era and regional setting next
i think you're expecting too much all at once UG started with one battle (Gettysburg), then a series of battles (Civil War). then combined land-sea ops (Age of Sail), now they're tackling real-time 4X including everything they've done in the past as a wise man once said: bro let em cook
before i purchase this im curious how strict the system requirements are for it as listed on their website. In theory my laptop is woefully inadequate accoridng to their minimum reqs ( i have 8gb of ram, a gtx 1650, and my processor is an intel i5-9300 @2.40 ghz). But it runs Ultimate Admiral Age of Sail well enough. But I guess I'd rather not spend $50.00 on a an early access model until im sure it will work...
Constructive criticism: if you don't know, then you don't know. You don't have to talk for every second of the video. Your videos where you actually know what's going on, are more enjoyable than others like this one. I realize you went into this game raw, but you corrected yourself multiple times where if you just slowed down and tried to understand the game and whats going on, you would have more credibility in your presentation.

bro its 2023 and they are still not displaying all the models. This game looks like UA: Age Of Sail reskin and it even takes place in the same time period. I am impressed by the AI tho.
Jackie this is the revolution, not the civil war. there are no 150,000 man battles in this war. the largest battle of the war was either long island or yorktown and neither were all that large and only a few thousand people fell in the bloodiest battles. to put in perspective more people died during Pickett's Charge than most battles in the revolution or even better, more people died at Gettysburg than Americans died in the revolution from battle several times over.
Did they fix the scaling? There was huge problem in UG Civil war where they would scale enemy solders x3 of yours no matter what you do.If you bring huge army they would bring a horde of man....Really anoying
Doesn't look to be the case. The British did retreat as they were outnumbered 3/1. Scaling system is game breaking for me, reason I didn't get civil war. Looking forward to this one...
So i bought the General Edition and was excited to add my founders name and officer.... did anyone else buy that edition and did it give you the abaility to do that? they show a video of that bveing in the upper left hand corner and I do not see it at all.
Their other games are a bit meh, although i played the original ultimate general and it was an outstanding game. Maybe the ultimate general games have a different lead or dev team or something. This game is very high on my wish list, however i am going to wait for a full release.
Picked it up today. Can be quite brutal if you overextend yourself. Always leave a decent amount of garrison in towns as the Brits will definitely sally out and take them. Currently my main general is stuck on the large map and I can't move him. Reload coming.
This game is impossibly hard. I've beaten the other UG games on legendary, and this game is super hard, on easy. I can't seem to get enough money. Does anyone know how to raise taxes? Also, the British are overwhelming in numbers. Just when I thought I had things wrapped up, I had Boston to Ticonderoga, with garrisons in every place, and a floating 2500 man army (2 brigades), with Ustates rifles, and all of a sudden, the Brits dropped of 8000 men at Boston, and tore through the whole map. I lost everything.

New patch is up. Impressed. That was quick. Thank you Generals for your support. You are again on the first line doing the impossible. We have prepared an update. As we continue to make and improve the game, you may encounter bugs in completely unexpected places. The update v0.1.23 rev.48199 BB1 includes: 1. Correction of the ability to start a tactical battle 2. Fixed freezing in the final window, and added statistics 3. Reduce difficulty on normal and easy levels. Britain will have fewer troops and send fewer of them. 4. Improvement in AI retreat on the global map 5. Cavalry melee combat has been rebalanced. Other units will be less dependent on their condition in melee battle. 6. Improved interface in the headquarters, because players could not understand that there is a research tree in each department 7. Added tutorial videos to the menu 8. Fixed arrows for ghost units in delayed reports 9. Various minor fixes and improvements. 10. Improved British sabotage events - rebellion and betrayer.
As an Empire TW player with an absurd amount of hours, this has me curious. I'd love to find a Total War alternative since Creative Assembly has dropped the ball, but I'm not quite sure I'm ready to move to this yet. Campaign Minimap would be nice. The battle/reinforcement map mechanic looks really neat. It would be even cooler if the campaign map was still running during the battle, so opposing forces can march south to jump you right as you're recovering. I hope this is just the start. Empire was great, but you can tell CA intentionally stripped out mechanics, and never polished their diamond in the rough. This series has clearly made the strong foundation for the Empire Total War we always wanted.
as a proud member of the greater british empire, I have to admit that the british army wasnt the most powerful at the time. while it was not second rate, it was very much conisdered a secondary issue compared to the Royal Navy. If i had to pick the best army in the world at the time, I would probably go with Prussia.... it wasnt until the 1800s that the redcoats truly becae the best. I also hope when they ask for the british backgounrd they acknowalge that a not insignificant ammount of redcoats were localy sorced units...though the high command were brits though and through

I've been playing this game. The casualties are much higher when you get better guns.
Looking forward to the next episode. Nice video, nice game!
I want them to make a Crimean War game. Underrated time period.
So is there a communication system between units and armies? Flags? Horns/drums/fife/bugles? Messengers?
what is a shame about ultimate general is the limited scale of the game and low replayability. they should focus on an entire era and regional setting next
i think you're expecting too much all at once
UG started with one battle (Gettysburg), then a series of battles (Civil War). then combined land-sea ops (Age of Sail), now they're tackling real-time 4X including everything they've done in the past
as a wise man once said: bro let em cook
34:10 I doubt it was a bug, you simply had an overwhelming force vs 250 guys or so.
I’m picking it up today.
before i purchase this im curious how strict the system requirements are for it as listed on their website. In theory my laptop is woefully inadequate accoridng to their minimum reqs ( i have 8gb of ram, a gtx 1650, and my processor is an intel i5-9300 @2.40 ghz). But it runs Ultimate Admiral Age of Sail well enough. But I guess I'd rather not spend $50.00 on a an early access model until im sure it will work...
i guess the ai is playing (realistically) conservative? bcs as a player i wouldnt go fight a larger army even if i am a disciplined british army
Well, it's not entirely historical, considering nobody was raising regiments and marching them to Massachussetts until after April 19, 1775....
Shame it's not allowed on steam yet.....Looking forward to this, I have over 2000 hrs in UG: Civil War
40:30 Isn't it directly setting your army on the battlefield according to what it was set up on campaign map? Cause it kinda looked like it for me, but maybe I'm wrong, I didn't play the game yet.
Gameplay dialog volume too low cant hear it well
bro its 2023 and they are still not displaying all the models.
So do you play the game through the website? I have a Mac, so didn't know if I purchase, will I be able to play?
Hey Jackie ,can you buy me this game ,I can help you in your ameican revolution episodes cause I am civil war tournament champion from india
Looks promising! Just discovered the mod for TW: Empire, Empire 2 and having fun with it. Will keep my eye on this
How is that, man? I wanted to love Empire, but just couldn’t get into it.
Looking good.
is this the 79.99$ version you have to buy?
Did they fix the scaling? There was huge problem in UG Civil war where they would scale enemy solders x3 of yours no matter what you do.If you bring huge army they would bring a horde of man....Really anoying
Doesn't look to be the case.
The British did retreat as they were outnumbered 3/1.
Scaling system is game breaking for me, reason I didn't get civil war.
Looking forward to this one...
This looks like the best historical strategy in a long time. If this is successful, they have a Napoleon version in the bag.
There is a typo in the reputation tap "loosing..." --> "losing". Such a classic lol
So i bought the General Edition and was excited to add my founders name and officer.... did anyone else buy that edition and did it give you the abaility to do that? they show a video of that bveing in the upper left hand corner and I do not see it at all.
Squad, company, regiment, battalion, Division.
Their other games are a bit meh, although i played the original ultimate general and it was an outstanding game. Maybe the ultimate general games have a different lead or dev team or something. This game is very high on my wish list, however i am going to wait for a full release.
Is it historically accurate in the sense that a good third of the "american" troops are Frenchmen and Spaniards?
This looks even better than I thought it would be
Picked it up today. Can be quite brutal if you overextend yourself. Always leave a decent amount of garrison in towns as the Brits will definitely sally out and take them. Currently my main general is stuck on the large map and I can't move him. Reload coming.
Does the campaign map expand anymore or is this it?
@@Grizz-db4ui That's it for now. You can play for 1 year.
dang@@JS-bp3up
This game is impossibly hard.
@@Grizz-db4ui Ir does open up a bit further north.
is there a game similar to total war: arena? I havent been able to find it anymore but it had such awesome gameplay
How and where can i play this game? I only have a ps5 so what fo i need to start playing this game?
Was going to buy it.....but a bit of a high price point man. I'll wait i think.
Is it just me or does the kid in the blue jacket around 3min in kinda look like jackie? hahahahaha
what is the genre of this kind of game? is it just called " total war like " ??
This is hilarious because I work in concord right behind the battle road
iwould love an empire total war version in this stile including the sea battles
You should've named urself jack fisher on god
The wait is over!
Although i love the ultimate general games, i severely suck at them
Funny how none of the workers in the plantation are black.
Imma max charisma and do banzai charges the whole time
Ultimate General Medieval here we come! This game looks amazing thanks for the Share Jackie Fish. I would love to see what this development team thinks of next and until that time I’ll enjoy this title as much as previous ones by them.
💯
In the battle view are the units one to one or is it like 1=5 people?
Ah i was looking at steam epic wondering how the hell to get it lol
I REALLY hope they have a head to head mode for the campaign map. Would be incredibly fun.
It's been stated that it's unlikely that they'll have mp and if it does happen it wouldn't be for a long time.
Can you a bannerlord camping
With aisre
Holding off till they update the game with the beta 1.2
I love that they are using the flag of New England
Multilayer battles in these games would be great
anyone figure out how to raise taxes in this game?
Add Russian language on release, pls =)
New patch is up. Impressed. That was quick.
Thank you Generals for your support. You are again on the first line doing the impossible.
We have prepared an update. As we continue to make and improve the game, you may encounter bugs in completely unexpected places.
The update v0.1.23 rev.48199 BB1 includes:
1. Correction of the ability to start a tactical battle
2. Fixed freezing in the final window, and added statistics
3. Reduce difficulty on normal and easy levels. Britain will have fewer troops and send fewer of them.
4. Improvement in AI retreat on the global map
5. Cavalry melee combat has been rebalanced. Other units will be less dependent on their condition in melee battle.
6. Improved interface in the headquarters, because players could not understand that there is a research tree in each department
7. Added tutorial videos to the menu
8. Fixed arrows for ghost units in delayed reports
9. Various minor fixes and improvements.
10. Improved British sabotage events - rebellion and betrayer.
This is gave me Empire Total War vibes.
Those devs have got to make a warhammer 40k game.
I've waited a long time
as a proud member of the greater british empire, I have to admit that the british army wasnt the most powerful at the time.
while it was not second rate, it was very much conisdered a secondary issue compared to the Royal Navy.
If i had to pick the best army in the world at the time, I would probably go with Prussia....
it wasnt until the 1800s that the redcoats truly becae the best.
I also hope when they ask for the british backgounrd they acknowalge that a not insignificant ammount of redcoats were localy sorced units...though the high command were brits though and through
These guys from this studio will literally kill the total war licence in 10 years.
Please no scaling! ( fingers crossed)
In simple im buying this on my next pay
Hey Jackie great vid pal this looking awesome maybe the best experience for the AR. I will sub for more. My question. If i buy the 50euros - dollars version etc etc that they have in the site you have the link are they gonna keep updating the game like the games you buy in Steam in early access and they update their games and they release at the end the final version of their games and you buy it cheaper that way or they are not gonna update this version and you will have to buy another version of the game again or on steam when they will have it in steam eventually. I will buy this version if they are gonna update it and this will be the the only money i will give is this the case or they are not gonna update it and stuff from this site??
Willpower ended up as 69. Niiiiiice
