Lyrics:
I was wrestlin' like, should I write a verse?
The culture got enough clout-chasin' vultures out here tryna prove they worth
They need attention
They can't imagine me not tryna make myself look bigger off of this Kendrick mention
I can't imagine his position
Before I got on my mission I was a party victim
I brought the party favors
I used my trauma, my single mama, to justify commas to pay the devil's wages, woo, huh
That probably went over they heads
Basically what I said is I was government fed
Bred for doin' time in the feds, but Jesus bled
Insead of puttin' dents in they head, He turned His
My cup runneth over with nonsense
They hearts grow colder, they love to do evil, they burn they conscience
I want the dealer's head who gave my cousin fentanyl
Labels exploitin' rappin' addicts, man, I'm sick of y'all
My daddy ran with Compton Crips, my uncle's Piru
Stuck in the middle of this madness, what should I choose?
I should be choosin' between Howard and Hampton
I love the people that I ran with but look at the damage
You want me put you on but I know you still with the scammin'
A crooked doctor took advantage and hooked me on Xanax
It's killers sittin' in they cell for takin' somebody innocent
And they don't even feel no remorse, the worst ignorance
But when I take a look in the mirror
The blood of Uriah's on my hands 'cause I'm that killer
Who had Bathsheba in his quarters, I'm that -
Who let Eve taste the fruit of death, I'm that sinner
I deserve death along with these liars and hypocrites
Fake tough rappers who fabricate they predicaments
Fake-deep guru pushin' voodoo on the people
Tellin' folks that my God ain't real, that's real evil
Huh, I wonder what Lecrae would do
Hopefully seek the hand of God and tell 'em that he's incapable
But truthfully, I'm nobody to judge
My good deeds are like some period blood stains on a dirty rug
All that I can offer them if Jesus' love
I know it sound foolish to many, like "Really? That's all you got for us?"
Yeah, the cross is foolish to the perishin'
The world'll call me weak and the saints'll say I embarrass 'em
I walk through valleys full of evil, I'm aware of it
I can't condemn the world and burn all of the heretics
Love is patient so I'm trustin' in the narrative
And Christ ain't watch the party die
He died instead of it

This is definitely the one. He used a big moment where spotlight was on him to point EVERYONE listening towards Christ.. that means all the new listeners too. God is so Good. This the one in Jesus name Amen 🙏🏼he pointing Kendrick to Jesus, Kendrick has a huge platform imagine him being a believer in Christ 🙏🏼

I love how Kendrick's version sounds like the old testament where God sends the flood to start over and Lecrae sounds like the New Testament where Christ dies for our salvation.

Stupid line. Christ died for your sins so go do whatever you want. Don't let the party die, they have to molest kids, girls and do all other sick stuff. But hey, it's O.K. Christ died for them.

@@TornadoVTwhat’s ur proof for that
Kendrick called for the real ones and Lecrae answered. This feels like the start of something massive
I am so glad this is the first Lecrae song I ever heard. Kendrick just got you another lifelong fan
You probably heard him but was unaware. He is one of the rappers for “Coming In Hot” which I learned about 2 weeks ago is a Christian rap song or perhaps created by Christian rappers.
You found a good thing. Lecrae been around some 20 years. Hidden in the open.
congrats brother, you are gonna enjoy absolute heat from lecrae
Now the most important thing that you get from this, and the point of his music is to know Jesus. That’s it run after Jesus with everything you have trust in him with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding trust in him with everything and he will direct your path Proverbs 3:5-6 .
What you been doing? Lecrae been on the map. Listen to his Fear song.

I love the symbolism and artistry in this exchange. The way KB explained it on Instagram was so on point.

Way better title than what everyone has been using
The honesty in this song, it takes a lot of guts to release something like this. If you understand Crae's story, this song will hit different. You really see his growth as a human. He goes from a tough upbringing, to finding Christ, getting hurt by Christians, going back to his old ways of coping, comes back more understanding, and Christians call him fake. And now he's here with his zeal of Rebel, but his understanding from Church Clothes 3 & 4. This guy is my inspiration fr, besides Jesus and my grade 8 teacher. Shout out Jesus, shout out Lecrae, and shout out Mr. Tran, I love you man. 🫶🏼
Awwwww hahahaha love ur shout outs!!!!!! Powerful🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 means a lot coming from a school teacher mom of a 12yr old and Jesus lover
@@charelle212 i'm glad i can inspire you, you inspire me! Being a teacher ain't easy at all, especially with the responsibility of raising them up to have a relationship with Jesus. Stay strong out there
Oh yeah we gotta keep praying for Lecrae. He's carrying his cross proudly and let's keep praying that his message and mission spread and continue to call people to Christ.
Crae is finally getting redeemed from being labeled "appealing to the mainstream" by the church, and yet the mainstream is recognising him for walking with the Lord.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! Glad this light is being shinned on him !
Yep. When you really walk with Christ, you may get the same treatment he did (hated by the world and by religious folk alike).

"He died instead of it" 🙌🏽🔥 AMEN!!
Glad he actually released it. This is classic Lecrae 🙏🔥 I've always appreciated how he is so genuine and doesn't pretend to be perfect. Doesn't sugar coat the words. I don't care what anyone says. Dudes gifted and a legend.
Well put. Classic Lecrae. This reminds me a little of Prayin for you.
@@mercivic that's what everyone keeps saying. I can definitely see that now. I do miss the classic Lecrae sometimes. Seems like he's coming full circle.

Glad I found my way here. Great response, awesome verse. Bring back the age of real rap and music for the soul.
Using the Kendrick mention to put out a response both pointing to Jesus with 21st century symbolism, and exposing the darkness of the industries, all in a one-verse line-up of straight bars? LECRAE STILL GOT IT IF YOU ASK ME. We’re still with you brotha!
All of his songs are fire. Lecrae My guy, this song is great. God bless
Been listening for years! I've been praying for him and I'm happy to see that he carries that cross unashamed no matter who's listening or in the room. Praying for you Lecrae and I'm proud of you. God bless you and 116 group.
a Kendrick and Lecrae collab now would be amazing and inspiring
It’s not far fetched, he’s collabed with Dax and Ty Dolla $ign before.
Lecrae, when I listened to this song this morning I got so emotional. I felt my faith stirring up fiercely. Thank you. God bless you!
God bless you Crae. In my eyes you've been a top lyricist for well over a decade. Way before the Kendrick mention. Proud of you! Keep reppin Christ & being amazing bro! Love you g!

Keep up the great work Lecrae! This is excellent art! Hip hop at its finest.
I haven't heard the Kendrick song but this go so hard Crae! My God the boy coming back stronger!
Been a blessing seeing Lecrae's journey and growth since Real Talk
Right. Been watching him grow for 20 years. No one knows about Real Talk bro lol. I never really thought back then God would use him so much to reach the masses and industry but here we are. Revival looks like this in 2024. And it's here. In my opinion.
he needs a movie bruh, but it better be good and some corny "God's Not Dead" type directors and writers. It needs to be made with respect, understanding, and love for the art of film, that would do him and God justice.
LECRAE SPITTIN MORE FIRE THAN SATAN EVER WILL!!!!!
That last line will change lives
Ya. This was exactly what I needed to hear.
Been listening to this song ever since the Instagram release. The lyrics of this are so powerful Lecrae. Keep up the amazing work man and I pray that God may continue to bless you and allow your cup to overflow. Praying for Kendrick too brother 🙏
This made me float man. such a good track. beautiful lyricism and an even better message. God bless
When I was a teenager, I was a deeply devout Christian, and I loved your music. It wasn't the same gospel drivel - it had soul, lyricism, passion and praise backed by solid musical talent and expertise.
I'm now an athiest, but I will always respect your work, your mission, and your faith. All due respect to one of the goats.
I feel u, not an atheist but fell off with Christianity a while ago. What I love about Crae is you don’t have to be necessarily religious to get something from his music. So much wisdom and passion behind it that it doesn’t matter. It’s music that truly brings everyone together. Much love brother❤️
@theamatuer96 Jesus, won't let you die! He died for you! Even the prodigal son lost his way... Hopefully, Jesus will make his way back into your heart... Jesus is King!
I'm atheist as well but i don't think you have to be religious to appreciate and value religion
Jesus love you and died you you. @TheAmateur96
I feel you on that last line. I've more or less always been atheist but I have such respect for artists like Lecrae for their dedication to the craft and the message. that extends to a lot of Christians because while I don't believe I respect a fair bit of the messages that Christianity offers
Really my first Lecrae song, and I’m on board
You had me in tears with this one.
This was great. I hope that everyone that listened to Kendrick’s song listins to this one as well
A few weeks ago, I stumbled on Lecrae’s channel. I just simply enjoyed his insight and show. Unbeknownst to me as I was watching an episode of him with Montel Jordan, I learned that he is one of the rappers for “Coming in Hot”. Shocking to say the least!👀 I enjoy his interviews and insights on Christianity and the world. Continue Lecrae with how the Lord is utilizing you to guide others toward Christ.
Big stuff happening in Christian hip-hop right now! Praise the Lord! I'm actually so excited about what God is doing and what He is going to do. This song hits so hard, man. I appreciated how humble you are on this track, I seriously got goosebumps when you talked about Jesus turning his head, you being Uriah's killer, and especially that last line when you dropped "Christ ain't watch the party die He died instead of it" SHEEESH!! That hits sooooo hard. I've been and will continue to be praying that God blesses you and your ministry, keep it up, man. God is truly working and will continue.
I’ve been listening to your music for more than 10 years. Way before Kendrick mentioned you. Keep doing your thing, Lecrae 🙏🏾🔥
