Reminder that this man explicitly said "I didn't do anything wrong" two days before this apology, and then tries to get credit for taking responsibility as if he had any choice.
@@smokingbeard7796 It was almost most definitely a verbatim response that he was instructed to say by his lawyer. "No wrongdoing was found" is also double speak. It's a way to try and claim innocence without specifically saying "he didn't do anything wrong." A way to shift the blame from Dr.Disrespect to the victim. Now the story will change to "I talked to the minor but it wasn't inappropriate"
“No wrongdoing was acknowledged” is the shit me & the (of legal working age) teenager operating the self-checkout would say to the door security guard after they both see me slip some spenny strong Panadol into my shopping bag, but the kid lets me walk out considering the unpaid goods are worth twice what he’s paid an hour and I’m clearly in pain. @@abaddonarts1129 It doesn't though. It could be inferred, but it was not necessarily implied. Keep in mind that he can not really go into detail about anything, but the public accusations are of sexual intent.
To be fair though, there is a _massive_ difference between saying that when it was a few messages that were inappropriate vs meeting up with the child under explicit conditions. To be clear, this doesn't make what DrD did morally okay, but I am pointing out that it's the opposite end of the spectrum from the people who meet up with the children.
@@Isometrix116 That is a good point. People also forget that whenever minors are involved, any cases are supposed to be sealed to protect the minor first and foremost. Like, imagine if that kid's name got out or people figured out who they are, on top of whatever the Diddlers of the world did, they'd get doxxed and harassed by the fans. I remember a case in the early 2010 were some blogger released the victims name and they ended up committing self-ending because of the shaming, harassment, etc. despite being the minor victim

This is a common panic defense statement.
No real intent means if anybody gets to look at the logs of what he actually said and see him expressing intent, it wasnt serious. He is premptively saying he didnt mean it when he said it.
What throws me is the fact he starts by saying he’s always transparent when his first response was he was never found guilty of anything illegal instead of admitting to messaging a minor and constantly editing out minor and then adding it back in after being called out for it. He clearly wasn’t being transparent to begin with
Also the qualifier statement of I’m always transparent “WHEN I CAN BE” 😂 yeah me too but only when I can be as to not reveal any bad things I may or may not be doing

Edit 2 - people seem to think the critique of twitch is that I think they should have some deep all encompassing moral code. NO: but the internet, in use and control is converging on fewer platforms controlled by a relative few. Those platforms operate in ruthless self- interest, such is the market, but there's no reason public regulators cant impose better standards of conduct for platforms and more protections online to build an internet in the interests of us all, not just the bottom line of a handful of platforms.

Be it on the internet, or in sports, or politics, or wherever, it's almost always the same; if you make someone enough money and/or have a high enough profile, your mistakes/crimes will be swept under the rug and after a period of time everyone will just pretend it never happened. Football stars abusing women, politicians getting caught doing the same thing the're projecting about, influencers and streamers doxxing people or running outright scams, we keep doing the same things over and over and over again and nobody learns anything.
First accurate take that I read in the comments so far. We've literally seen it happen a hundred times already. Taking an extended vacation at this point is the best thing he can do because his audience absolutely will continue to watch and support him and will eventually act like nothing ever happened.
You still literally have no idea what he said or did that was wrong, except inappropriate messages to a minor. For me, yeah, i wont be watching him no more. But that could literally mean anything. The worst thing at this point is that he literally lied to all his fans to think twitch were the bad guys here when it was him all along. That could be the courts systems fault but still doeant matter.
We live in an era where predators will admit to talking to minors to millions online and get no jail time (except for those who did) or get investigated by the police AND still have supporters will always shock me
I mean, I'm a prosecutor and what's been discussed thus far isn't clearly indicative of any criminal act. We'd need to see the messages to confirm whether or not there was actually any attempt to procure a minor for an indecent act, which is a lot more nuanced than just 'person flirts with minor'. What he's admitted to doing is already profoundly morally concerning, but we'd need to know more to criminally charge.
basically, Dr. and Twitch can agree not to talk about it, but, between all the lawyers, people who work for either side, IT staff (Admins). That is a lot of people who know/seen something. Leaks happen a lot, almost every time, so when you have conspiracy involving more than 2 people, the chance of a leak is going to increase substantially with each person. This is a great point. Despite the fact that he’s clearly lying to downplay the severity of the situation, his own words confirm there WAS an intention. ANY adult should behave the same way. The most appropriate way for anyone to handle things if they were going to be talking to a child at all (which is suspect right from the start) is to suggest they reach out to someone they trust at a school or doctor’s office. While keeping the victim's information private and safe should be top priority, I do feel that a gigantic company with all it's lawyers could've found a way to communicate the seriousness of the action/reason for the ban without divulging details about what happened or who it was done to. But I'm just some guy so who knows.
I 100% expect Doc & his fans to absolutely lean into the “cancel culture is out of control” BS their ilk always seems to resort to in order to frame their reprehensible actions as less egregious than the public response to those actions. Messaging to minors inappropriately is absolutely an act worth being cancelled over & the fact that DrD treats that reality so flippantly implying that he’s supposedly grown beyond his former self who participated in that vile behavior (even though that “former self” was still an adult who should have known better then as now) makes it clear at least to me that an actual earnest acknowledgement of his gross & irresponsible conduct & sincere apology for it is not on his agenda. With that being the case, I have zero patience for the desperate pivot him & his fans are likely to make into the predictable delusional narrative about “cancel culture run amok”. Being “cancelled” is nowhere near a supposedly “awful” fate for someone who is clearly angry he no longer gets to hide & deny his known history of courting underage audience members. That statement isn’t genuine contrition nor honest unapologetic confession but simply a semi-formally written tantrum for getting dragged into the spotlight.
There is no reason a fully grown man nearly middle aged should be texting a minor if they aren’t a family member Edit: Jobs that require working with kids is an obvious exception
I just watched "Some Ordinary Gamers" video on this, and Mutahar said he sometimes gets messages from kids in high school with questions about working in the tech field or cyber security, and I don't have a problem with that if obvious reasonable boundaries are kept. Granted, Mutahar's more than a decade away from middle-age, but you get the point. I just don't think we want to get to a place where any famous or influential individual is going to get smoked on sight simply because they responded politely to an admiring kid.
@@jasonjennings8465 it literally has never been intended to be for adults only, or it wouldn't be constantly working to make itself kid-friendly 🤦🏼♀️
It's not really that shocking, predators will often seek out an easy source of vulnerable children...Here in the UK our most notorious paedophile, Jimmy Saville, was a huge benefactor to a lot of childrens hospitals...and he visited them regularly. Then think of Priests and their Choirboys. When you get a female Paedophile, they tend to work in schools As teachers and TA's. So streamers and their younger audience members absolutely checks out. (Also yeah...your bait seems to have reeled in a couple of fish lol)

@@gaymer5697 ...except the age of the minor *doesn't* matter. If an adult man in his 30s or 40s is sending suggestive (or even outright sexual) messages to someone under the age of 18, their exact age does not matter. A grown adult shouldn't be sending that sort of thing to an eight-year-old, sure, but a sixteen-year-old is still a child according to the law, and their brain is less developed at that age compared to an adult.

Man, it’s kinda crazy. I’m 30F. About 15 years ago, I would flirt with a lot of older men in MMOs I played because my home was super toxic. I am very fortunate that no man took advantage of me. I’m really glad this is being talked about and people are getting cancelled for it. Now that I’m 30, I realize how stupid I was and how dangerous it was. But 15 year old me thought I was grown for my age and anything is better than my home anyway, which is wrong, obviously. I sympathize a lot with the minor. I wonder how truly bad it was. It is so disgusting how Dr Disrespect is walking around in circles, using a lot of tricks to not admit wrongdoing, not to take 100% accountability, and not to apologize. Yeah, he might not have done anything illegal, but that’s a thing with grooming, it doesn’t seem easy to legally prove. Ends up being he said, she said.

My guess is that if he's willing to self report this kind of nuke it's because he fears that someone comes out with actual recites that would somehow make him look even worse if they came out without him addressing this first. This would mean he's trying do damage control by admitting to inappropriate messages being sent between his 35 year old self and a minor which would just be insane...
Right, this is what most people aren’t realizing. When a public figure comes out and apologizes it’s almost always a downplay. So when he says “sometimes leaned towards inappropriate” it means they were probably frequently inappropriate af, esp when you consider dude is 40.
Doc obviously in the wrong for inappropriately messaging a minor. I’ve been a teacher for over 12 years with my students being little kindergarten kids to the elderly. It is my duty and moral imperative for when these conservations come up (and they do, kids are curious) that I approach them age appropriately and as academically as possible. I mean, I’m an art teacher, it’s really not appropriate for me to talk about it at all outside of the best I do to dispel harmful misinformation or let the kids know that they aren’t going to get shamed for bringing it up. ANY adult should behave the same way. The most appropriate way for anyone to handle things if they were going to be talking to a child at all (which is suspect right from the start) is to suggest they reach out to someone they trust at a school or doctor’s office. You have no reason to be talking about sex or relationships with them period regardless of context or intention. It’s very concerning that he wouldn’t know that even if we took him at his word that he was approaching it innocently.

He did so much hedging in that admission that he should work for Citadel.
The amount of people defending him is nuts.
they're called pedophile sympathizers / pedophiles
Did he actually commit a crime though? This is all new to me
@@ubergoober25 Crime or not, it's f'n disgusting.
Same as ppl throwing pedo word around
"I'm not perfect" after you just confirmed that you had inappropriate chats with minors is CRAZY
Just a minor setback for him💀
Zing!
He's still young. This is just a minor bump in his career. He'll be treated with kid's gloves and grow up to be a better man.
Bloody hell, the pun is killing me.
That's inappropriate dude
😏
This man fell off the moment he started getting into NFTs.
Remember that when people get caught doing this, it's never their first or only time.
"Were there intention behind these messages? Absolutely not! Come on guys! I lied to you all about not knowing why I was banned for 7 years straight. I'm super trustworthy!"
I can't believe that famous public restroom livestreamer DrDisrespect would do something like this.
It only goes downhill from here
It went uphill for jake paul. After the japan incident and scamming ppl.. dont assume
"as you know there's no filter with me"

Elon gonna remove the "last edited" feature next. Mark my words
Why should he? Is Elon Musk some kind of chomo defender now?
@@nimmha6708 He removed viewing who liked what because certain higher ups were liking porn posts

@@David-ii2op cmon you know thats not true
Time for the Doc to start streaming on KICK!
No mention if he knew if the individual was a minor, but 3 edits and deleting/adding the word minor. So many people from his PR/lawyer teams must have seen it, and no one thought to add if he knew.
For me, that sealed the deal.
Yeah I would’ve thought his pr/legal team would have and could have worded this message so much better.
really of all the things that was it
Bloomberg article claiming he was casually asking about the minor’s plans at Twitchcon doesn’t help. Surely he didn’t mean to meet her, right? He’d never
@@Nabuchodonozord clearly had no intentions to... I mean, who doesn't message someone inappropriate things to someone they never intend on doing inappropriate things with.
What if he wasn't sure the person was a minor? I don't know why everyone is trying so hard to find a reason to think something he didn't say. Why not wait for the actual messages to surface before coming to conclusions?
My guess is that if he's willing to self report this kind of nuke it's because he fears that someone comes out with actual recites that would somehow make him look even worse if they came out without him addressing this first.
This would mean he's trying do damage control by admitting to inappropriate messages being sent between his 35 year old self and a minor which would just be insane...
Right, this is what most people aren’t realizing. When a public figure comes out and apologizes it’s almost always a downplay. So when he says “sometimes leaned towards inappropriate” it means they were probably frequently inappropriate af, esp when you consider dude is 40.
Dr. Disrespect really went from .DOC to .PDF
Nicely done 😂
Doc obviously in the wrong for inappropriately messaging a minor. I also am concerned about the ex Twitch employee that waited 4 years to use his inside knowledge of the situation in order to sell tickets for his bands concert. I would say that is also troubling and should probably be discussed as well.
You’re literally the first person I’ve heard this from. Get off social media 😂
@@KyeCliqueYou clearly didn't even try to verify then because it is all out there in plain sight to see. Mogul mail covered it in one of his videos which is where I saw it, but the guy was not trying to hide it, he literally posted that if his concert sells out he will tell all at the show.
