    Do you think Jam El Mar should revive the "Storm" project? And why / why not?

    • @RuneSmedstuen
      @RuneSmedstuen 2 года назад +8

      Honestly, no! While alot of the tracks were perfection at the time, and brought with it so good much memories... I dont think it would bring the same 20 years on. New Storm-like project, yes... but not as Storm if that makes sense!

      Tricky question. Immediate thought is no, it has been a long time since original Storm stuff… maybe the project is better left in the past. Especially since Mark passed. 😢
      I think a new project would be better like Rune says above… in the theme of Storm 😊

    The equipment behind the Maestro is worthy of respect. This is a rarity. El Mar's music is nostalgia for proper dance music, one hit Let me free is worth it. In addition, El Mar is a professional for me, who still plays on vinyls like Geuseppe Ottavani. The keeper of traditions, the legend of electronic music. It's a pity that Marc Spoon is not with us, together they would give heat. Greetings from Siberia!

    • @muzikxpress
      @muzikxpress  2 года назад +5

      Pretty cool right? I don't know much about equipment myself as I am not a producer, but I don't see much vintage equipment like in Jam El Mar's studio soon. Kai Tracid has a lot as well (there's 3 interviews I did with him on my channel BTW!), I think they have some similar equipment. And indeed, a shame that Mark Spoon did pass away years ago, so young still....

      @@muzikxpress its a huge modular setup he has behind him.
      Each part is separate and they are linked together using the patch cables hanging that you can see. Unlike most normal synths that come with oscillators, envelopes and filters already connected internally as one complete package, with modular you purchase each of the modules separately and can have almost limitless possibilities with what you can connect to and how.
      It's a very complex and also very expensive way of working, but if you are a huge synthesis nerd and have the money then it's a rabbit hole a lot of people end up going down!

    I still have this Record from 23 years ago it was my our Pump Up song for my Group Entourage every weekend before we popped in the cab to hit the Clubs this record was on the turntables at full blast I know I have hearing damage from how loud I played it but boy were we pumped up to go do our thing, still one of my favorites they don't make hot music like this anymore. I remember People would always freak out what's this song.

    I recently rediscovered this record (just a few days ago). The last time I heard it was probably in 2000 when I started my very first year in school. To be entirely honest, I only really dig the middle section (the main melody) of this track (roughly from the 2-minute mark till the 4-minute mark). Everything else feels like chaotic filler that doesn't serve a purpose. Moreover, they lack an emotional depth and thus don't really feel trancey at all. I would love to see a rework/remix of this track that focuses on the emotion and energy-driven part of it and extends it in clever and tasteful ways. One track that comes to my mind as a reference is Lizard by Mauro Picotto. The Megavoices Mix is highly regarded in the trance community but it's a track that you only really sit through (all 10 minutes of it) just to hear roughly 30 seconds that are actually dynamic and highly enjoyable. After that, give a spin to the R.A.F. by Picotto Remix (remixed by the original author himself). It's amazing all the way through. I still appreciate the interview, as always, great work!

    • @muzikxpress
      @muzikxpress  2 года назад +1

      Nice one! BTW, I was gonna do an interview with Mauro Picotto yesterday about "Lizard" since he had a show in Amsterdam here in The Netherlands. Unfortunately the interview didn't happen after all, but hopefully next time he's in The Netherlands I can make it happen (last time he did a Dutch show was in 2017 though, so he doesn't have a lot of Dutch gigs it seems....)

    Such a timeless track. I assume that sample that underground resistance complained of was freely available in some sample packs or sample cards. I'm surprised Jeff mills would of seen issue with that. No doubt many others used it in tracks that were not successful.

    • @ravecrab
      @ravecrab 2 года назад +1

      The track sampled is X-101 - Sonic Destroyer, and if you listen to it you can hear they took more than just the stab. Jeff Mills is a pompous buffoon, so I'm not really surprised he was irritated by a superclub trance tune sampling him, even if he sampled things himself.
