So I was practicing my japanese with this japanese man and he asked me something and I replied "Wakarimasen" as a response, meaning " I don't know" he said that it was wrong and that the right word was "shimasen " which one is right? Arigato Gozaimasu 😊😊

      Good question! 💕
Basically, "Wakarimasen" means you don't understand something, and "Shirimasen" means you don't have the knowledge or information that the person is looking for.
However, "Wakarimasen" also means you can't give the answer but it doesn't necessarily mean you don't have knowledge about it.
”Shirimasen” could sound cold like "I don't care", "Who knows?", so you have to be careful when you use the word.
However, "Shiranai" which is a casual way to say "Shirimasen" doesn't sound cold so much.
It's not simple and kind of hard to explain everything in a short comment.
      I'll make a video about these words✨
