I think when people say "Igor is poorly mixed" they really mean "I don't like the mix on Igor" which is fine tbh but it's not objectively bad.
they probably mean: i'm not used to this style of music and i don't like it, and i heard someone on the interent say it's poorly mixed so i'm just gonna blame it at that.
What they mean to say is that this music is roughly mixed and I don’t listen to music deep enough to know the difference of rough mixing with intent and actually accidentally mixing badly be it because you’re bad at mixing or technology limitations

Tyler can mix well, look at Flower Boy (or even Wolf in some sense) If the mixing were super clean on IGOR, it would be worse for the soundscape and would've probably gotten an 8. Igor is Tyler's Death of a Ladies' Man. It sounds exactly how it should for the character being portrayed and the story being told. Would the sound work for everything? Absolutely not. But it's perfect for the purpose for which it's being used.

FrodoBaggins1926 And I agree with you, it’s just my personal taste. Even though there are albums with maybe a similar aesthetic to Igor that I’ll listen to every now and then.
ON My initial listening, the mixing on IGOR was the main problem i had with it. However after multiple listen throughs I can totally see how it demonstrates Tyler’s deliberateness in his efforts to capture a specific aesthetic and concept. It’s clear he’s going for an underground neo soul type of sound that’s rough around the edges. I think the contrast of this production choice with the subject matter of love, (both good and bad aspects of it) is a really creative desicion and waaay more interesting and exciting than most popular music out now

I thought it was pretty good, clearly not intended to be a masterpiece, more of a victory lap for Taboo, and in that way it works pretty well. It’s got nice themes on Denzel reminiscing on Florida, nothing too crazy but also interesting. Great, hard hitting production, sick hooks, great flows, nothing special but really well executed. I enjoyed it quite a bit, maybe the skits are kind of intruding and numerous but I think it’s a good release, so I’m thinking like an 8.1/10, but I have a feeling Anthony will give a 6 or a 7.

Mixing is an art form. The way you do it is a choice, just like all the other arrangements.

If you’re to look at his albums in an objective way in terms of vision and effectiveness; it’s definitely between Flowerboy and Igor, but I can see how Igor could top it given that it is so different for Tyler while still being great.
