What makes you think God who created you and provided for you on this earth is ok with you worshiping statues and animals instead of Him?? It’s ok because they been doing it for thousands of years?
Even if something is followed 1000 years before, it doesn't make it right. If GOD has given you something which is truth to spread, you follow and spread it. Yes, there were Islamic rulers that were wrong in their approach but that is not Islam. If you worship spirits or animals, how can that be something you agree with when there is something higher than that which created them? Does that not deserve your worship?the problem with humans is thinking that this world is all and there is no GOD and if you belive in GOD, you believe that GOD would be OK with all these new spiritual religions that create their own idea of GOD. We have normalized everything and everything that is GODLY cannot be seen anymore because we are clouded by our own interpretation of what GOD is and we see all these emotional human problems as what we should use to define our stance in this world. A true Muslim cannot own a free man but a Muslim can buy a slave so he can help him understand ALLAH and be a productive citizen in society. Also, an Arab existed before Islam came with Muhammad(saw). Only after Muhammad(saw), did Arabs start reverting to Islam. So even if Arabs were enslaving Africans for 1300 years it started before Islam. An Arab is not necessarily a Muslim and a Muslim is not always an Arab.

The Sheikh failed miserably in clarifying this person’s misunderstanding. Instead of making the image of Islam beautiful in the eyes of the person asking. It made him hate Islam. It is better for such an old sheikh not to discuss Islam...
Only Allah can change a person's heart. You have a freewill, you can submit your will to Allah and become a Muslim, or you can disbelieve and become a kaafir.

Agree, when giving dawah you must know to speak the language well, i have noticed also that many arabs get defensive when speaking about slavery done by arabs. We should acknowledge that, explain and seperate islam from those who did it because those people are evil
