Just remember: According to Life Force, your stomach is a fiery inferno, your liver has volcanoes in it, and your brain is actually a mechanical fortress complete with moai heads and docking bays for spaceships!
"Kidney Stones cannot be destroyed!" I don't know what I laughed more at, the fact that there are like hundreds upon hundreds of kidney stones in this dude's system, or the announcer saying that.
Guessing you're in North America. In which case, yep, our Arcade version of Life Force was actually a beta version that was basically Salamander with the Life Force title screen, voice over effects and a couple minor background art changes.
Awesome job! Yeah, Salamander is ridiculous. I struggle a lot with Life Force NES too, despite it being much slower paced (though having a full High Speed section in Stage 4 and the ridiculous hitboxes of the solar flares in Stage 3 are probably the worst parts). Salamander 2 is way easier but even that gets nuts halfway through.
Yo hell yeah bro thanks for upload. Can't wait to check this out with this coffee drink. It's a double header! Btw freddie mercury was the lead singer from queen. Dude was awesome 4 real
Great job. My first shmup was Life Force on NES. After I found Salamander and Life Force arcade versions years ago I was quite happy that they didn't port it more directly. I think Life Force on the NES is far superior than both of these but it is also quite easy. Keep it up 1 CCing the shmup universe :).
In the original arcades there was also a 3rd version: the American version of Lifeforce. Its almost like a beta hybrid version of the transition from Salamander to the Japanese Lifeforce. It has powerup system and most of the sprite artwork of Salamander. Yet it has the title screen, voice samples, and some of the background art of Life Force ("Kidney stones cannot be destroyed", the space backgrounds replaced by beta versions of Life Force's organic artwork, etc).
these subtitles are so perfect for this game, really cool idea

Lmao
Don't doxx my Moai heads!

actually that was inside creature's body
Today I Learned the Lifeforce Cabinet at my liquor store when I was a kid was actually Salamander.

Yes. I knew I wasn't the only one who cleared the pink on the Brain Golem screen! lol
Awesome as always! Great playthrough of this classic oldschool-shmups. Love both games, graphics are awesome and especially the soundtrack is epic!
well i just got mauled on salamander arcade level 1, oh well time to watch super hard as 'motivation'
Force field?!
That's a shield Konami XD

Yeah dude I agree about the flare hit boxes. They extended to the black space lolz and blew me up. I remember not trying to get cute with the flares
21:08 Kidney stones? Haha!
I think I've got what must be the next evolution of your captions-see link in my next comment 😂

Never knew the PSOne version had a now loading screen animation. Not too bad....
those tiny brain golems are kawaii ^^
I thought for a sec you were going to clear loop 2 on life force!!!
Was the double feature ever released in the States?
it was planned to, but Sony of America had shit policy like "non2d games on muh 3d console" until SOTN proved them wrong
Guess this was supposed to be a better version of lifeforce. Sadly it just wasn't lol. Made the game corny and fucked the music all up as well.
Where's the Zelos Beast floating around it's Sphere both you can destroy as the final boss.
That's only on the NES version of Lifeforce.
and Salamander on 8-Bit Famicom as well.
4 multiplies is too much help for the player, also some bosses are ridiculous easy to defeat

So the difference is Salamander was in space and Lifeforce was in a biomechanical body??
Yup, and LifeForce having the Gradius style power-up system

Team er it just a game
Did you expect to get as far as you did on loop 2?
SuperViper T302 sad to say, I can't get past the first stage on loop 2😔
Sorry but this looks like a messed. Nes version is a lot better.
PC engine version is the best, it's easier and has better music.
